Capítulo 7: 『National City』

She walked along the side of an avenue near the CatCo Building. Her eyes coursing over the many buildings which surrounded her. There were many buildings in particular which grabbed her attention. On being the Big Belly Burger. She could smell the french fry oil and the grease from the burger grill. She licked her lips slightly as her stomach growled.

"I should have eaten more before I left," she muttered under her breath, dragging her feet on the concrete sidewalk.

Hekate found herself glaring at the truck which she was passed by her. Its windows were unnecessarily tinted to the point that not even shapes could be seen. It was a black sports utility vehicle, one of the most typical government vehicles across the entire world, especially in the entertainment sector.

She didn't bother looking inside the vehicle however and turned her head to look forward as she continued walking. She soon began brushing shoulders with the people on the street.

She was taking in every face she saw, all the new things present. She skipped passed a comic store and came to a stop. Her head immediately snapped to the side, her two toned eyes looking over a taller boy. He was about eighteen years old, he was dressed a bit nerdy with a sweater dress shirt and tie, he was also looking at a comic book about a speedster of some sort.

Her head cocked to the side slightly as she walked up to the window, looking at him. He had short brown hair combed to the side. He looked like a preppy on top of a nerd. He was so squeaky clean.

Suddenly a screen opened up revealing information about the man she was looking at.

『This is Winn Schott, son of Winslow Schott and Mary McGowan. He was a ward of the state up until he turned Eighteen this year. His father is a murderer who killed six people with a toy bomb and was given the nickname the Toyman. He was then abandoned by his mother following this event, being placed in foster care as stated before. He is currently visiting National City and is currently a student programmer.』

In a sense this person was like her, in the sense that she felt abandoned by her blood family, as he had been left alone. He was someone she could relate to, someone she felt she could probably talk to.

It seemed he also had a childish interest in fiction, while also holding a high intelligence quotient.

Pursing her lips slightly seeing this, she would gently nudge the door of the comic book shop door, causing a bell to go off. Looked up at the bell for a few moments before looking over at Winn who was still preoccupied.

A small smile forming over her lips as she walked over to him. He was five foot ten inches, she was five foot two inches and about visibly only ninety nine pounds or so.

Her little form cast a shadow at his feet. From the corner of his vision he could notice someone observing him. Lowering the comic book to his side, his gaze rested on a young girl four years younger than him. He turned his head slightly, curious and confused.

The girl before him was odd eyed, that was rare. However what was even rarer was the luminescent eyes of green and copper. "Hello...?" Winn addressed her, "What's your name?" He place a hand on his hip as he held his place in the book with his thumb.

"Hi," Hekate said with a beaming smile across her lips as she reached out a hand to shake. "My name is Hekate Liades."

Raising his brows at the brisk introduction and the suddenly offer of a handshake, he reached his hand out to grasp hers as well. "Nice to meet you, Hekate Liades, my name is Winn." He took in her fair facial features, they were soft, yet the grasp she gave in the shake was heavy and stern. Despite how soft her skin appeared to be, she felt physically denser.

He quickly noticed however the emblem on the back of her gloves. "Is that the superman emblem...?" He asked as he turned her wrist to see the back of her head. "It isn't.. What is this?"

Winn seemed to brighten up like a sunny day after a storm, seeing something that remotely looked Kryptonian.

"It's a Glyph," Hekate said as her head remained lulled to the side but tilted down slightly. "A Kryptonian Glyph, do you want to know more," her voice sounded like that of a temptress luring in its prey like an anglerfish with a light.

The way she swayed in front of him, it felt like some sort of trap. He took in his surroundings, no one really seemed to be paying any sort of special attention towards them. "Sure...? Are you from around here?" Winn was completely and utterly confused with her demeanor.

"Nope," She gave his wrist a tug, which caused him to stumble from the strength behind her. "Come come~" She looked like a younger sister trying to pull their older brother along. Her demeanor changing again in that manner as he put the book down and followed her out of the shop.

"Where are you from then?" Winn chuckled awkwardly as she tugged him through the cement jungle.

Hekate giggled, "Not here, not there, not anywhere in particular." She spoke cryptically as she looked over to him, holding his one hand in both of her own as she brought them into an empty lot with basketball hoops.

"What are you going on about, what do you mean?" Winn shook his head slightly trying to figure out what she was talking about. No here? Not there? Not anywhere? "Do you not have a home?"

Hearing him question about her home, she frowned slightly. "E.T. Has no home to phone." Again she sounded a little bit off with this, almost goofy. It was as if she was playing with him, toying with him. She was having fun with this, it was written all over her face.

Winn's face was turning pink in annoyance, but he quickly noticed that there was no one else around. Making a stern, yet cross, expression he glanced around. They were in an empty lot in the not so busy part of town. "Where are we?"

"According to the Atlas, an empty lot on East Avenue. The basketball hoops must be new." She had noticed how angry he was getting, or at least annoyed, with her antics.

"Let go of my hand," Winn was beginning to think she was messing with him. Though really she was just trying to get to know him through his reactions.

She let go of his hand, "Do you like superman?" Her held her head high now, looking right up at his face. She stood only a couple feet away from him, within arms reach.

This question he found himself asked was strange. Though it wasn't out of place when she spoke of not having a home to phone to as she referred to herself as E.T. "Of course I like Superman, what isn't there to like?"

The girl smiled dully at his tone, he sounded like a fanboy. He clearly was a hero's man. "Where did Superman come from? Hmm?" She leaned towards him with a glistening look in her eyes.

Winn didn't know whether or not to take her seriously. She wanted him to answer her question, one that he obviously knew the answer to, in order to answer his own question. "Prove it?" He said with an inquisitive tone, crossing his arms over his chest.

She closed one eye and looked at him, "Only if you got a couch for me to crash on." She grinned slightly as he nodded slightly, he seemed hesitant. She didn't want to stay with people who were connected to Kal-El, even though they knew their true name. They had given her an identity, one which pretty much gave her free reign.

Holding her arms out to her sides, her hands turned over with their backs to the setting sun, her eyes were partially closed. She began to levitate, "How about this?"

His eyes looked over every little bit of her. She had no tech on her that could possibly do this. The location was too open and random for this to be a planned out magic trick. He nodded sincerely, he was almost brought to tears. "So you really are a Kryptonian, just like him?"

"Say what you will," she rolled her neck slightly and rested her feet on the ground.

"Are you going to be a hero like him?" Winn was becoming excited, he was even showing it as he almost jumped up and down.

However that look in her eyes, it seemed she didn't share the same admirable thoughts on superman heroic antics. Though she didn't have any negative thoughts either. She was indifferent to this question.

"Maybe. I'll think about it," dipping her head side to side, she kept her eyes on him. "Now.. You said you have a couch available?" Her posture was like an arrow, her arms held at an acute angle by her sides as she took a pace closer to him.

"No parents?" Winn asked as he couldn't really note her apparent age as it was somewhere between fourteen and eighteen. Humans were complicated.

Shrugging, her answer would be simple and to the point. "Last I saw them, they abandoned me, shoving me into a symbioship and sending me on a crash course to Earth. I have no home, no parents, no family. My house lost its honor."

Winn stood there taking that in. In a sense she was just like him, his father left him and was dragged off to prison when he was only eleven years old. His mother disappeared, left him, dropped off the radar and allowed him to be brought into the foster program.

"...I see..." His eyes were sympathetic, they didn't make eye contact, they looked at her feet. His hands were clasped together in front of him as he nodded. "Well, consider my couch open to you if you're open to becoming a roommate." He'd gesture for her to follow him as he curled in his lower and upper lips.
