52.38% Hekate of Krypton / Chapter 11: 『Bumpy Road』

Capítulo 11: 『Bumpy Road』

The Kryptonian who had just left the scene of the bank robbery was gliding through the air for several hours now. Their limbs out open away from their sides and her ears listening to her surroundings. There was a pile up nearby, but there was no real life threatening problems.

Her eyes gazed over the streets below as she was surfing the wind towards the suburbs and out of the urban zone. She was approximately three hundred meters off the ground, well above the treetops, hovering like a bird amidst a tropical storm.

Yet it was a clear day, the breeze was gentle, the sun was rising.

Suddenly there was a yelp and her head snapped to the side. Someone was screaming, it was a man, about middle age. Her eyes looked through the houses and homes which surrounded her current location.

She locked her sights on a man whose leg was trapped under a car he had been changing the tire of. It was clear if he didn't get immediate help, there would be future consequences.

Rocketing through the air, she came landing on the front lawn of what appeared to be Ben Lockwood's home. The professor had just stepped outside to see what the racket was about and paused to see the Kryptonian land.

"Another caped super?" Ben's eyes gazed over the small feminine form as would stride over to the man trapped beneath the car. As she lifted it, he tilted his head to the side. The more he looked at her, the more she looked like a young teen, on top of that, she wore no cape. "No cape...?"

Squinting his eyes, he could tell he had heard her earlier, but seemed to have been openly ignored. Knowing he wouldn't be late to the University, he put his class bag on lawn chair and began walking towards her.

The man who she had freed was groaning, but he hadn't moved out to the way. He was holding his leg, but if he didn't move the car would end up falling right back on top of him.

"Hey, uh..." The girl was holding the car up with one hand, her odd eyed gaze placed itself on Ben who was now standing a few meters away. "Can you get the guy out from beneath the car? If I throw him, it's likely he'll get hurt again."

Ben nodded slowly, hesitantly going over and grasping his neighbor by the shoulders and dragging him out from beneath the car. "You alright Mister Walker?"

Nodding, "Just call me a damned Ambulance. I think it's broken." Walker seemed relatively calm, but he was clearly in pain. He was trying so hard no to scream, his face was red and he definitely looked like he was going to cry. He was holding his composure, maybe he didn't want to show weakness? Typical man.

Slowly kneeling down, the girl would reach over to grab the car jack which had fallen over and straightened it back up. Proceeding to fix it so that she didn't break the back axle or wheel bearing.

The man seemed to smile slightly, seeing how the small young girl seemed to show compassion for his car, even after having saved him from being crushed.

She then stood up, walked over to him and knelt down. Looking over his leg, using her xray vision, she nodded to herself. "It's fractured. If you had been under the car for any longer, your shin would have broke and you might have had a hemorrhage." She looked over at Ben who was calling an ambulance.

『This is Ben Lockwood, he is a Professor at the University of National City. His father owns the steel mill here in National City. He has a three year old son named George and is married to a human woman named Lydia.』

Seeing the little information she was being fed, she tilted her head slightly. This man was a professor? Her eyes looked over his suit. His dark colored eyes seemed to be looking over her as well. He was cautious of her, he didn't know who or what she was other than the fact that she was super strong and could fly.

Once he closed his phone and hung up, he turned his attention to her. "Who are you exactly?"

She shrugged at his question.

"Are you related to superman?" Ben immediately asked as he had seen a fraction of her abilities. These abilities which made her a Kryptonian, even though there were plenty of other aliens that could do so.

"No," She gave a one word answer which made him cross his arms, he could sense the animosity to the question, though it could be misinterpreted as animosity towards Superman.

Ben stared at the emblem which was on her chest, then up to her face. "Similar powers?"

The girl shrugged in response to this question, the second shrug she had given him during this little pointless inquisition. "I can probably do more than the softy," she called the Man of Steel a softy.

Hearing her say this, he scoffed and smiled a bit, taking a step back as he took her whole form in. "Shouldn't you be getting to school or something?" He cracked a joke, or at least it sounded that way.

"I'll be getting my GED in four years," She sneered in response, giving away her age, and oddly sounded proud of it. She cradled herself in her arms, she had a habit of swaying a bit as she remained idle.

"I couldn't help your animosity when I asked about Superman.. You got something against him?"

She stared up at him for a moment before sighing slightly. "His extended family used me as a political scapegoat to attack my family, who wouldn't defend me and abandoned me. This animosity is for his Aunt. You can read more from CatCo Worldwide Media."

Lockwood blinked hearing her say that she had an interview with CatCo. His father hated the company due to its liberal views, just like the Daily Planet. "How'd you end up here then?"

"I was bound and gagged, tossed into hibernation ship and sent to Earth against my will by my parents." She seemed to just outright answer this question, making it clear she didn't originally want to be here. It wasn't her choice to be here, it was a choice taken away from her.

Ben cringed slightly, he kinda figured how she had the abandonment thing down now. Self-sacrifice can feel like abandonment to others, especially if the parents sacrificed themselves to save their child from planetary destruction.

"You got anyone to stay with?" Ben asked as he looked down at her, his head tilting to the side. He was curious of her identity, but doubted he would get anything out of that knowing. It would likely put a target on his back and his toddler of a son.

"I have a couch to crash on... Probably," She smiled cheekily, hiding her nervousness on the subject, not knowing if Winn would accept her after what she had done. She didn't beat down the men robbing the bank, she killed them.

Ben raised his brows hearing her uncertainty, as if she had done or said something that could change the fact. "I... See..." His eyes narrowed at the girl who was now looking off towards the inner city.

"I'll see you later," She'd say absently before launching herself off the ground and into the air. She went up several meters before turning and shooting off in the direction of the city.

He could only assume she was going to go check on the couch she might not have to crash on. Or that there was another emergency she was responding to. Her couldn't see a lot of her facial expressions, so he couldn't quite tell what she was thinking at the time.

Hekate continued to rush towards the city, and within less than ten minutes she was back at the loft where Winn was staying. She came in through the window and attempted to strip herself out of the supersuit, it wouldn't budge.

"What the heck?" She flailed her arm slightly as her arm wouldn't get out of the sleeve. She couldn't even take off the boots. Glaring at the items, she just wanted them off.

Just then, the door opened and Winn came walking in. He came to a stop at the door as the masked heroine was in his sights. "Welcome back," his tone wasn't happy, but it wasn't necessarily sad. The way he looked at her was between that of a killer and a hero as if he couldn't tell what to think of her at the moment.

"Oh, Hey Winn." She smiled at him as the suit sudden folded into little hexagons and revealed her clothes underneath. She looked down in surprise and tilted her head a little, "Hm..."

Winn stared at her for a few moments before nodding, "That's new. It's kinda like the power ranger super suits. They just appear on the body," He snickered a bit as he spoke of his nerd stuff.

Hekate blinked several times, not knowing what power rangers was. She had only been on Earth for about a week, so she had no idea what he was talking about. "What are power rangers?"

"Seriously?" Winn's mouth rested open for a few seconds before he shook his head. "Alright, after class, we are watching a marathon," he proclaimed with his arms in the air as if he didn't believe what he heard leave her mouth. "For now... Let's watch the news!" He walked over to the couch and flopped down upon it as he picked up the remote and turned on the TV.

As soon as it turned on, he narrowed his sights on the CatCo news announcement which was now playing on the screen.

"Heroine or Villainess? Five men armed with fully automatic weapons take a bank hostage. Their goal was clear, take all the wealth of our fellow working foke and our children. A single little girl stood up to them, masked and as powerful as the Man of Steel she struck them down." It was Cat Grant's voice on the television, it was clear she was trying to bring flame to the masses, to get them riled up.

Hekate walked over to the couch and sat on the arm, crossing one leg over the other. Her eyes narrowed on her mouth as she spoke.

Cat Grant was sharing her story, the truth in which she had witnessed. There was no twist, she said it was it was. She even began to give the girl's background to the masses. The meaning of her family's ancestral Glyph, how her parents sent her to Earth against her will and how she was abandoned.

As she continued to go through the information and narrative she had on hand, she began to surmise the reason behind why she fought for justice at the bank. Why she would defend the people.

What she thought of humanity, how she thought it was remarkable that someone so small, so young and strong could think in such a way.

It was believed that as Hekate discovered Superman was loved and desired by the people, she wanted the same thing. She wanted to be accepted by the people, not feared.

She began to refer to her as a child without a home, a child without parental guidance, a child in grieving for the loss of her parents. It sounded as if she was trying to get the people to sympathize with the one time hero.

Just then a picture of her bursting out the doors in flight appeared in the corner of the screen.

"Her name, is Agent Cadmus, the first super powered Heroine of National City!" Her name was chosen due to the fact that there had been five men who attempted to rob the bank. On top of that, her legacy was being built on top of that fact, just as five men helped build the City of Thebes.

Hekate's eye twitched hearing a new name she didn't agree with, but it didn't sound half bad. "I guess she didn't want to call me the Goddess of Violence," She snickered to herself.

Winn just looked over at her and shook his head with a quiet chuckle of his own. "She doesn't want your name to condone violence outright, I wouldn't either." His eyes went back to the screen.
