Capítulo 431: Divination

Specifically the idea of magical teleporting letters that always reach their target regardless of distance. In theory it was a cheaper but effective way to deliver messages however it was not very easy at all to pull off. Contrary to how it seems and how most wizards saw it teleportation had a LOT of details that needed to be kept in mind to integrate properly. The most common form of travel for wizards in the form of apparition was not even teleportation as despite it's minute time frame it did actually have one from departure to arrival.-

This was because apparition worked based on the concept of spatial tunneling that involved creating a small tube of magic that flung the wizard from one spot to another based on the coordinates they set. Normally this process would take a period of time to make calculations but thanks to the nature of magic that wasn't necessary so long as the rules of apparition were followed. See magic as a whole had this funny property of remembering spells so that the next time they are used even if it is by a complete idiot they only need the words and wand movements to succeed if there is no intent in the spell.-

In the case of apparition it was just the word "Apparate" and firmly picturing ones destination to succeed. Compared to what the inventor of the spell had to go through it was like creating a nuclear bomb from theory and pressing a button to set one off , incomparable. It was simply not worth the effort to redefine the wheel in Nicks opinion. He was fine with innovation if it made sense but he had absolutely no reason to create a spell like the one Luna suggested.-

The next day arrived and it was time for Nick to get his first experience with divination. The classroom for the subject was held at the top of the north tower of the school since it was apparently a "fortunate" location. The entrance to the classroom was little more than a hatch with a knob to be pulled down. The classroom itself was an odd mix between an attic and an old fashioned tea shop with two dozen chairs and even less tables while the lamps and windows were shaded by red cloth and the fireplace had a kettle releasing copious amounts of fumes into the air.-

To Nicks surprise the incense being burnt in the kettle was highly magical in nature as though it would be more accurate to consider it an aerosolized potion than regular incense. "Bloody hell it's warm in here." Ron complained and Harry looked to agree. "Where is the teacher at anyways?" The redhead asked confused. "Over there under a notice me not charm." Nick said casually pointing out the teacher. "How perceptive of you young one." a female voice speaks up from that location as the professor steps into view. "Welcome children! How wonderful to meet you all in the material world!" Trelawny said to the students.-

The woman had long disheveled dirty blonde hair and large round glasses that made her eyes look much bigger than they were. The most interesting thing Nick found about her however was that she had an obsessive amount of decorative object on her from chains to bangles and rings. The interesting part was that nearly half of these objects were actually magical though the sort of magic on them was confusing to say the least. Every single one of these magical objects were focused on probability magic or luck magic for the less aware.-

Luck magic was one of the few fields that Nick avoided like it was cancerous specifically because of the horrible outcomes it tended to have. Trelawny however used the enchantments to an interesting effect as the magic was split equally between positive and negative outcomes. In other words she had forcefully caused her luck to stay on a neutral level. This sounded pointless but for a seer this neutrality was likely very much necessary or they would go mad from the sheer amount of visions they would see.-

Not even visions of important events either but rather the outcomes of small things with no bearing on anything. If they did have a vision of something important however no one would know unless it was horribly obvious as a result. "So you have chosen to study divination , the most difficult of all magical arts. I must warn for on the onset that if you do not have the sight , there is very little I will be able to teach you. Books can only take you so far in this field..." Trelawny said seriously. Hermione scoffed to herself at that but Nick knew that the professor wasn't making this up and that Hermione was going to find it out the hard way.
