Capítulo 74: Mission Success

The magical disturbance was caused by a wizard who resembled an old lion—Rufus Scrimgeour, the head of the Auror office.

In his youth, Scrimgeour served in the Ministry of Magic as an Auror, dedicating much of his time to battling dark wizards. Through countless battles, both significant and minor, he ascended to the position of the head of the Auror's office. During the Second Wizarding War, Scrimgeour succeeded Fudge as the Minister of Magic.

However, the seemingly impenetrable armor adorning his body didn't yield the results Scrimgeour had anticipated. Witnessing the on-duty guards being sent airborne, his expression soured.

"Can someone explain what in Merlin's name is happening?"

Scrimgeour glanced at the other guards. Munch, in a panicked rush, explained briefly,

"A Hobbit friend? A Christmas tree?"

Scrimgeour surveyed the berserk giant oak, and an absurd notion crossed his mind.

It was evident that someone was deliberately provoking the Ministry of Magic.

Above the Ministry of Magic stood Whitehall in central London. If the giant oak broke free, the repercussions would be immeasurable. Gripping his wand, Scrimgeour felt a flicker of youthful vigor.

He navigated the giant rafters, casting a few spells tentatively.

The giant oak's skin was covered in rugged bark, exceptionally tough, with a faint green glow that resisted most spells. Neither Scrimgeour nor the on-duty guards dared to approach too closely. They could only try to contain the giant oak's destructive rampage within the halls of the Ministry of Magic.

As more and more Aurors rushed to the scene, the frenzied giant oak was eventually fully restrained by numerous wizards. In the end, it stood helplessly, subjected to a barrage of blows, roaring incoherently and furiously.

Amid the standoff with the giant oak, Scrimgeour led the Aurors to the confrontation. More wizards rushed to the Ministry of Magic, and Fudge, then the Minister of Magic, arrived as well.

Enjoying Christmas Eve with his family, Fudge received urgent news of a break-in at the Ministry of Magic. Unhappy that such an incident occurred during his tenure, Fudge was stunned when he saw the berserk giant Oak.

"What is this?"

Fudge, struggled to match the creature in front of him with any magical beings from his extensive reading.

"Looks like a giant oak to me."

Umbridge whispered to the side. The old woman, fond of pink frilly skirts, served as Fudge's confidant and the deputy minister of the Ministry of Magic.

Fudge glanced at Umbridge, nodding in agreement with her observation.

Indeed, the creature resembled an enlarged oak.

"Send for Dumbledore and Newt. They're better at handling this kind of stuff... oh! Merlin!"

Before Fudge could finish speaking, he exclaimed.

Scrimgeour, momentarily distracted, was swatted away by the giant oak. Fortunately, he had several layers of protective spells on his body, but even so, he spat out a mouthful of blood.

"I've been saying for ages that these darn magical creatures need regulation. Now even the oaks has become this terrifying. I wonder what the International Confederation of Wizards will say about my proposal this time!"

Fudge muttered angrily, and Umbridge, beside him, promptly took out a pen to record the incident. If Minister Fudge forgot, she would dutifully remind him.

"What are you looking at? Go and help!" Fudge barked at the Ministry of Magic staff who had arrived later. Although they weren't Aurors, their numbers and collective strength proved to be helpful.

The giant oak, wreaking havoc in the Ministry of Magic, ultimately met its match when a group of Aurors, using a combination of fists and wands, managed to render it unconscious. Despite its defeat, the oak had accomplished its mission.

The once-immaculate hall of the Ministry of Magic lay in ruins. The floor was a patchwork of destruction, fireplaces shattered, and even the iconic sculpture of the Magic Brothers at the center of the square resembled a gold cake.

Fudge surveyed the wreckage, his expression grim, and promptly sought out Munch on duty for questioning.

"An old man with gray hair and a long beard?"

None of those present had any recollection of the described individual, and, guided by Munch, they arrived at the Magic Brothers sculpture.

An Auror cast a healing spell, restoring the sculpture to its original form. However, the inscription on it resisted magical repair, emitting a unique light that defied the power of the Restoration Charm.

"Merry Christmas to the Ministry of Magic in London - Saruman of the White Council."

The characters and penmanship possessed an otherworldly magic, radiating light that seemed to repel the mending spell.

"The wizard who left this message is exceptionally powerful," murmured the Auror who had cast the Restoration Charm in a hushed tone.
