Capítulo 1: Chapter 1 : Hogwarts Letter

The sun penetrated through the cracks of the worn and tan curtains, and the fresh air in the morning washed away the dullness in the small attic a little. Maybe it's because it's too close to the sea; the humidity here is still as high as ever. Even in the attic, there are still mosses in the corner, wantonly climbing and expanding their territory, leaving a mysterious vitality.

When the men in London were still carrying their wives—or their lovers—in the duvet, this might not have been the case. In short, while the guys were still sleeping on the soft beds, the people of Torpoint were already busy, standing up. This is the morning in the port city.

Of course, all these lively pictures must have nothing to do with the residents of Tamar Lane. Maca is a resident of this dark alley east of Torpoint. Although he was born in Plymouth, what does this matter? The poor have the right to live through the law; naturally, they will also have their choices. In this alley full of "ideals" and "futures," it will be much more secure than in a place where multiple forces meet.

Here, there are not too many official sights and no key forces, and those are all in Plymouth! In this dark port city, there are only various undercurrent transactions that sink below the surface of the water.

Although he is young, he relies on his ingenuity and lives here day and night upside down. Two hours ago, he had just returned from the colorful night scene, and now was sleeping in a slightly old bed! There are a few more cargo ships or something on the dock where he manages them.

As he lingered in the colorful dreamland, there was a sudden sound of flapping wings outside the curtain, as if something had fallen on the narrow window sill outside.

It seemed that a bird was pecking at the window frame, and a dull voice came in through the curtains. In his sleep, Maca frowned and was not awakened. He rolled over, and the quilt was pulled over his head to cover his head.

The cymbal sounded three times again as if knocking on the door, making him care a little about what was going on outside.

Knock, Knock, Knock...

It was done three more times, probably the last time it was pecked or something. The old window glass immediately completed its mission, and the glass fragments fell thinly. If it weren't for the curtains, the glass scum would have splashed over the bed.

The shabby quilt was suddenly lifted open, and Maca sat up with his eyes staring. Suddenly, Maca, who was stunning, pulled open the curtains but stayed still.

Out of the window, a pale gray owl was standing there, with large eyes meeting Maca's sight. After a while, the owl tilted its head and screamed dryly, seemingly a little embarrassed by its mistake.

Maca blinked his eyes twice, and for a while, he didn't know what to do. Because he found that he was actually starring at the body of an owl and saw the kind of agitation that only humans can reveal.

"Is the IQ of the owl so high?" Marka found that he was a little skeptical of the trend of life.

"Goo-"

Just as Maca was full of question marks, the owl squeaked gently, then extended its left paw and placed a letter on the edge of the window sill.

A thick parchment envelope was written with emerald green ink, but the envelope was not stamped. Macal froze, reached out, picked it up, and saw a fiery red wax seal. Around the capital "H," there was a lion, Raven, Badger, and snake each occupying a quarter of the place.

At the top of the coat of arms was a word that was strange and familiar to Maca.

"Hogwarts?" Maca spelled the word out, his voice full of surprise and confusion. He didn't rush to open the envelope but stared blankly at this shield-shaped coat of arms. His thoughts drifted further and further away.

He silently left the envelope on the bed, curled up, and held his head tightly with his pale and thin arms. The dull black hair was cluttering between his fingers, seemingly telling about his dim and bitter past these years.

"It's only now..." After a long time, Maca squeezed a painful moan from his dry throat: "Uh, this is ridiculous."

Suddenly a sea breeze came in from outside the window, and it was extremely cold.

Oh yes, Torpoint in June is still having an unrelated period of cold.

Uh ...

The next day, the sun rose gradually, and the sun brought warmth to this coastal town. Maca sat on the roof outside the window and looked at the glaring water of the Tamar River against the outer wall of the attic. The rising sun rises from the junction of water and sky, plating the blue river surface with a layer of shining gold.

This is a rare sight for Maca, who strolls the streets all night. He stared at the distant dream but clutched the unopened letter in his hands. The letter was so light, but Maca felt it all the time; it weighed heavily on his heart.

The envelope was torn gently, and two pieces of rather textured letter paper were neatly folded together and pulled out by Maca. He squeezed a corner of the letter and shook, and the beautiful handwriting made him have a wonderful sense of unrealism.

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry

Principal: Albus Dumbledore (President of the International Federation of Enchantments, President of the Wizarding Association, First Class Magician of Sir Merlin)

Dear Mr. Maca McLean:

We are happy to inform you that you have been admitted to Hogwarts School of Magic. Enclosed is a list of required books and equipment. The semester is scheduled to begin on September 1. We will wait for the owl to bring your reply back by July 31st.

Also, if the owl needs to stay with you for a while, please feed the little one something to eat.

——————————

Maca read the letter repeatedly several times before turning to the next page, but before waiting to look twice, he pouted and pushed the letter back into the envelope.

"Yes, you have to spend money," Maca muttered. "Tuition is free; miscellaneous expenses are unavoidable; I should have thought about it!"

He sighed, crawled back into the attic with a glum expression, pulled out a few gray papers from the small cabinet near the bed, and threw them on the counter. Then he pulled out a dirty, dusty suitcase from the bottom of the bed. Regardless of the rising dust, he opened it with a click and pulled out a small box with a long shape.

This is a pen. Although not a good brand, it is the only birthday gift left to him by his long-dead mother. It is also the treasure he cherished most in his life, in addition to the British pound.

"Yes, ink is needed! Ink!"

He muttered as he prepared to write a reply. Not far away, the pale gray owl was standing with his head crooked on the bedpost, watching Maca busy. Although I am a little rusty with pens, I haven't forgotten how to spell words. Maca's memory is very good. This can be seen from the fact that he usually remembers a lot of fragmentary in pounds. It is only inevitable that the letters are crooked.

For this reason, he eventually scraped several pieces of paper. I watched the owl flutter out of the window, and it soon disappeared around the corner. Maca's heart was only a little calmer.

He didn't expect that he was determined to sink into the dark side of Britain in all kinds of despair and that he would see a miraculous dawn. What he didn't expect was that this ray of miracle was related to the Hogwarts that was almost buried in his memory.

"Hogwarts, haha!" Maca chewed the word again, her mother's innocent smile buried beneath the old tomb of Plymouth with his dead mother.

When Maca was thinking about his future, not far from No. 4, Privet Drive, Little Whinging, Surrey, the boy who had lived was just in the cupboard under the stairs. What is waiting for him will be a messy life messed up by the "accidental visitor.".

Uh ... For more than two months, it may have been an ordinary life course for the past Maca. But now everything is completely different.

Maca bid farewell to the small attic that accompanied him through the three years of gloom and also said goodbye to the bar owner, Uncle Ang, who gave him his first job. He sold everything that could be sold to the stolen merchants on the black market, and then, with all the pounds he had earned so far and his expectations of rekindling, he got on the ferry to Plymouth.

Only when he arrived in Plymouth could he board the train to London and embark on his new journey in life.

"Go and see your mother first!" Maca murmured, leaning against the fence on the edge of the ferry deck, looking at the opposite side of the Tamar River.

The rippling waves did not last long on the Tamar River, and the distance between the banks of the river was not so far. Before long, Maca was already standing in a slightly messy tomb. In that year, Maca, who was only 9 years old, spent the last money left by his father and set up a piece of tombstone that was considered extravagant to him at the time. Nothing else, just because it was his first time, the first time he acknowledged in his heart that this woman was his mother.

"... Mother" Maca caressed the tombstone cleaned by him. Even if it was noon, it was still cold. "This seems to be the second time I call you 'Mother'."

He paused and went on to say, "To be honest, I can't call you that naturally so far. I don't know if I should call it that way or I don't know if I have this qualification. But, anyway, now you are my mother. My... mother."

"Oh, I know, this still sounds very non-trivial, but anyway, I will talk, and you will just listen."

It seems that because of the atmosphere, or because of the emotions and thoughts of the past three years, Maca spoke intermittently for a long time. Until it was dusk, he stood up and patted his pants. He sighed and planned to go to a cheaper hotel for a night's stay and then go to the city center tomorrow for the train to London.

The moment he turned his head back, a touch of light gold flickered through his vision. In the light of the setting sun, it emits a unique light.
