Capítulo 2: New blood

The sun was rising over the island of Arcos, one of the many islands that constitute the Western Archipelago. And as dawn broke, we could hear the sound of music all over Arcos city, the one and only inhabited place of the island. For the population of Arcos, today was no ordinary day as it marked the beginning of the New Year, the beginning of the preparation for the ceremony that would celebrate, in a week from now, the coming of age of both the young men and women of the island. The five young people, two men, and two women would soon enter their sixteenth year on the planet and thus, join the rank of the adult and who knows maybe of the brave warriors.

It is within such atmosphere that Worrax awoke. Worrax, one of the young lords of the island, son of Arcos' general, leader of the blood warrior, was among the five that would soon undergo the coming of age ceremony. And it would be an understatement that he was dreading, if not afraid of it. Thus far, the life of the young Worrax had been one of ease. He had his friends, a loving family and people that looked up to him, but all could end. Indeed, if the young lord, the descendant of the blood warrior's leader were proven unworthy of his illustrious origin, he would become not only a stain on his family history but also a pariah among his peers.

With these thoughts in mind, Worrax got out of bed and went for his breakfast, two eggs, some bacon and two slices of white bread, tender and soft. The breakfast eaten, Worrax wend for his bath. Hot water was poured in his bath by one of the servant of the family and as much as he would like to take advantage of the poor woman; Worrax did no such a thing. He had his name to uphold for one and if his mother were to learn of any misdeed accomplished by his son the whip wouldn't be his biggest problem and even far from it.

Cleaned and well-fed, Worrax left his house, clothed with a black shirt made out of soft cotton and a leather pant over which was a fur coat. Worrax took the direction of his friend's, Marlo, house. The two of them were friends for as long as they could remember. And while Worrax was the son of the general, Marlo was the son of the city's first magistrate, both constituting the right hand and the left hand of the city's and island's governor, Tarros.

To reach Marlo's residence, several routes were offered to Worrax, either going through the merchant district, through the main street where the city's restaurant and bars were located or going through the pleasure area. Worrax, as the young and hot-blooded man than he is, decided to follow the third path. Along the way, women from the Western Archipelago were mixed with women from the mainland. These women were quite similar from the one from the Archipelago with, of course, a few notable peculiarities, whether their size, the color of their skin or the shape of the nose each of the women present on the street could a represent a different nation or a different continent. Once the observations were done and that Worrax's thirst for beautiful women was satisfied, he went back on his way to Marlo's house.

The house of the city's first magistrate was, as one could expect, magnificent. The first things that one would notice are the private guards at the entry of the building. Those two men were strongly built and culminated at a height of two meters. Those two wore, in addition to their long lance, a full body armor made out of metal and beast skin. Behind them, the house, spectacular, a three-story building whose raw material was dark stone. A kind of stone only found within the central island of the Western Archipelago and whose deposit is surrounded by many wild beasts and ferocious beasts.

Once Worrax entered the house, he was met by the attendant of the master, a man very familiar with Worrax as he knew since he was a little infant. Seeing the young man, the housekeeper smiled and let the boy past him, in order to allow Worrax to join his comrade. As per usual, Marlo was still in his bed, enjoying a late brunch. Hearing the footstep of his friend young Marlo slightly changed the position of his imposing body, ready to ask for more food to the servant that was coming, before recognizing Worrax.

"Ah! Old friend, you finally came to me, your old brother" said Marlo smiling. "Isn't it the brightest day of all? Are you ready to embrace your future and mark the history of the island with your name? What am I saying? The history of the whole Archipelago with you name, fated to be transmitted through centuries after centuries? Oh, my beautiful brother, you the descendant of the first blood warrior, you the heir of the general, fated to lead armies are you ready? Are you ready to be the disappointing one?" theatrically declaimed a smiling Marlo.

"Ah, come on bro, shut it. Don't you know that this is my greatest fear? How dare you use that string against me, your old pal? Don't you care about me, about my sanity? Do you want to see me suffer that much? But what did I do to you, but be a good friend to you?" answered Worrax before adding with a shrewd smile "a good friend to you and to your mother and sister, if you know what I mean".

"You… you… vile beast how dare you speak of my mother and my sister in such a fashion, how dare you disrespect my pure baby sister and the mother of the future leader of the Archipelago? You will pay the price". Replied Marlo. "And the price for such infamy is none but your blood" finished Marlo yelling.

The two young men looked and kept looking at each other without a blink for a long time, before exploding with laughter and giving each other a bear hug. Quite a scene as to do such, Worrax had to jump on Marlo, still lying on his bed.

Once the laughter were over and that the two young could take a hold over themselves, they sat opposite each other and started talking again.

"So Worrax, how are you doing? Not too nervous?"

"Brother, I'm so nervous my stomach hurt, I feel I could shit my pant at any moment now. Imagine if I am not fated to awaken, the best that could happen to me would be to die during the trial"

"Come on brother, what if you were fated to awaken but still died during the trial. Don't you think that would be even worst?"

"Of course, of course, but I did not take such a scenario into account, as I do not believe the old one to let one of his fated warriors die before he could serve him."

"As if he cared" said Marlo.

"What about you brother? Are you ready for the trial? For the awakening?"

"Well, unlike you, I do not have such pressure. My dad is not an awaken nor were the previous generations of my family. And still, we are one of the most powerful families of the island" "and unlike others, we didn't need muscles to accomplish that" smirked Marlo.

"Yeah, you're right. You don't know what it feels like"

"Well, let's imagine it for a second" said Marlo. "Worst case scenario your family would turn its back on you. Who cares, you still have me, and with my help, you'll become one of the most influential men within the Archipelago. I promise you that on our friendship and on my manhood. And you know I don't joke with my manhood. Don't you?"

"Haha thanks, brother" added Worrax. "Let's stop talking about my worries. We should talk about the event tonight. What did you plan for tonight?"
