I was able to avert his eyes, but I was unable to dodge his inquiry. Is that accurate? I eventually looked up and nervously questioned.

He gave a nod of agreement before deftly slipping his fingers from my hips to my waist underneath my undershirt. I felt a chill go down my spine at the contact. "Why?" I asked with genuine curiosity.

I haven't sought anybody else, he said after shaking his head once. His comment confused me. Did he imply that although he hadn't yet found the person he was looking for, he was still open to the idea? I questioned, "So, if you're involved with someone, do you usually prefer monogamy?" in an effort to get more information.

If that's what's anticipated, he said with a shrug and nonchalance.

I swung behind Robert and grabbed the free bottle of water from the nightstand while he gently kissed my shoulder, collarbone, and neck. I passed it to him after taking a drink, and he quickly finished it. I joked, "Thirsty?"
