If anyone had happened upon Alfie staring so adamantly at the map upon the table before him, they would've thought he had a personal rivalry with it. When at rest, his expression was always in a scowl, and he had been sitting in the back corner of the library since dawn, doing nothing but appraising it. Luckily, though, no one happened upon him. He kindly asked Master Herleva to assure his privacy, and with Ingo still away at Dolfo, no one dared to interrupt.
