As Gamera expected, he slept until the next attack. The presence woke him from his sleep. The distance to the Kaiju was close, and he was not moving away, but moving from side to side. If Gamera hurries up, he can intercept the attacker in the middle of the ocean.
It is not known whether he will be able to win under water. Kaiju were, as it were, created for life under water. They swam quickly and playfully, having no problems with the flow of the body. But the feeling of power overwhelmed Homer. He grew a little taller and his bones and skin stronger and heavier.
He had a theory about how the Titans' bodies could become stronger under the influence of radiation. This theory explained at least part of this phenomenon.
When radiation bombards DNA, the body tries to repair the damage. In humans, this mechanism will not cope with heavy damage, but in Titans, it may be able to cope with it much better. When some parts of the DNA are destroyed in Titans, a repair mechanism is activated in them, but they do not just return the damaged parts, but build something better to replace the lost one.
This would explain the enhancement of the organism, but does not explain the absorption of radiation from the environment. Perhaps unique organs, the work of which we do not know, are capable of this, such as the source of fire breath or atomic breath in Godzilla.
After examining his body, he swam to his enemy. He wouldn't mind having lunch. He rose to the surface and charged towards the Kaiju at full speed. While he was swimming, he noticed another change in himself. He constantly kept in mind the location of the nuclear waste. No matter how he turned or moved away, this feeling always remained in his mind.
It was like a beacon behind him. Or it was like you always knew where north was and knew the distance to it, and he had a super compass in his head. He knew the distance, direction and strength of the radiation emitted by the lighthouse.
This discovery caused a wave of positive emotions: joy, hope, relief. If this sense works over long distances, then he will be able to navigate the ocean and his greatest enemy since the beginning of the ocean journey will be vanquished. It opens up the whole world to him! He can swim along the coast and look for nuclear power plants and put them on the map of the world in his mind (The radiation background near nuclear plants does not exceed the general natural background. The technology is quite safe, and you will never be able to distinguish the radiation level near nuclear power plants from regions without nuclear power plants . However, Muto from the 2014 Godzilla movie somehow found the NPP while a larva, so Gamera thought he could sense the location of the NPP if he got closer).
Glad that he had solved another problem, he continued on his way to the Kaiju. When he felt it approaching, he dove into the depths, trying to hide in the darkness of the ocean and make a surprise attack.
POV: Military
The admirals of the US fleet were in the room. The president was in contact with them. Their faces were serious and stern. After increasing surveillance of the Pacific Ocean by all countries in the region, they were able to detect the Kaiju long before the attack. At a depth of 5,000 meters, he was heading towards the city of Cabo in Mexico at high speed.
They immediately gave an order to fix the direction of movement of the Kaiju. Following this direction, they could find the hole in the ground from which these creatures crawled out. They now had a working theory about the Kaiju's deep-sea origins; perhaps they lived underground and somehow found their way up the mountain. Their goals could be guessed, but that was not important now. Now they faced a threat that needed to be destroyed.
It was necessary to act while the Kaiju were far from the continent. Admirals were afraid to send their ships and submarines to intercept. They had already lost part of their fleet defending San Francisco. Obviously, it was almost impossible to fight in the ocean. Slow submarines were easy targets, and boats could only drop depth mines, which would not cause much damage.
"At what stage is the construction of the first Jaeger?" the president asked his military advisers.
"He won't be able to intercept this attack. Sir, permit the extreme measure!" one of the admirals answered.
"We received a message that the large Turtle is moving to intercept the target. It will be able to intercept the Kaiju in 3 hours," - without waiting for the president's answer, another admiral spoke. Silence filled the room. It was good news, but... The latest reports from scientists about the Turtle's ability to absorb radiation scared the world (speaking of those who had access to this information). Therefore, the silence was accompanied by a strange, silent understanding of the situation.
"These attacks happen with some frequency for some reason. Will Jaeger be ready for the next attack?" asked the president.
"Yes, it will. And if we find an invasion point in the ocean, we will be able to respond in time throughout the Pacific region," replied the admiral.
"How strong is the threat to our nuclear facilities from a large Turtle?" the president continued to ask questions.
"Sir, he is not a tame animal in a circus. The fact that this threat exists makes him very dangerous. And if he even comes within 100 km of a nuclear power plant, we will no longer be able to stop him. Our scientists say that the Jaegers will not be able to cope with the fiery by Turtle's breath. Which means there's no stopping him and we're doomed then. It's a risk beyond our control."
POV: Gamera
I hid under a hill at the bottom of the ocean. I could feel the Kaiju approaching me. I managed to outrun him and prepare for a surprise attack. I don't know if he will sense me in advance, but it was worth a try. Clinging as hard as I could to the bottom of the ocean, I tried to blend in with the environment.
Half an hour later I spotted the enemy. He looked like the ugliest shark in the world. His teeth jutted forward under a long, flat nose. He moved quickly and smoothly. It was quite large. Although it is difficult to tell about its height under water, but when the arms and legs merged with the tail into one form, its length was about 200-250 meters. More than half of this length was accounted for by the tail. Big teeth and a massive chin looked quite intimidating.
It was my time. Waiting for the right moment, I jumped out of my cover and threw my left arm back, preparing to strike as hard as I could. I did not roar to intimidate the enemy, but simply quietly and ruthlessly tried to end the fight in a few seconds. We had nothing to talk about. Unfortunately, fate again deceived me, turning its back on me. This is the third time I have failed to keep the situation under my control. Something unexpected always happens. "Will I ever be strong enough to not care about anything anymore? Will I be able to survive at all?" That was my last thought.
I was too focused on the Kaiju. He did not hear the approach of another danger. But even if I heard it, would I consider the thing dangerous? After all, I realized that it was only when I saw it out of the corner of my eye.
Everything froze in one moment. As I was swinging my arm to strike, a torpedo came towards us. A fairly large black cylinder that looks like a cigar. He moved almost without a sound and took a position between us. The Kaiju may not have known what it was, but I immediately realized the situation I was in.
The Kaiju was paying no attention to anything but me and spread his paws out to grab me, but I had to forget about him. He ceased to exist for me at all. As quickly as possible, I turned my back and assumed a sphere position, pressing my limbs and head to my body. The next moment there was an explosion.
There was no sound.
It went quiet, or I lost my hearing so fast I didn't even notice. First, the intense light burned my skin to a black crust, and the plates of my armor turned red and began to burn the skin and organs that those plates were supposed to protect. But there was no pain, because the explosion was so close that the brain did not have time to gather information about the state of the body.
After light, I was hit in the back by a shock wave that created a vacuum space at the bottom of the ocean. The impact sent me flying forward with the wave. My bones were broken, and the armor plates were ripped from my back along with the skin. But I was already unconscious, so I didn't know about it.
It is impossible. It is not possible that Godzilla, having received a nuclear explosion right in the face, after a second has already risen to the surface of the ocean to people and showed how cool he is. A creature that screamed in pain from a normal punch cannot help but notice the force of a nuclear explosion. It's all just fantasies, lies. He can be cut, hit, and bitten, which means it should not survive the explosion. And you can't just say that he absorbed the radiation and survived it that way. No! A nuclear explosion is not only radiation.
