Capítulo 2: An Unfortunate Accident

In a crowded city surrounded by splendors of lights and stores, there sits a tiny coffee shop in an alleyway. Soft lights and music echo throughout the cafe, and it would have remained that way if not for the chatter in the cafe.

"Oh come on, just a few days? Please," with hands clasped together and a begging look, a young girl pleaded to another girl.

"No! How can I go out to the beach right now," the other girl sulked, inflating her cheeks as she crossed her arms together.

"It'll be fun, and everyone will be there!" The other girl continued to persuade explaining all the planning and the activities possible. Her hands waved through the air and she even took out pictures of the pretty scenery.

"And the beach would complement your fair skin, Avina," with one last sentence ending her persuasion, the little miss seemed more intrigued about the trip.

Her brows twisted and her lips puckered in thought. Finally, unable to resist the efforts of her friend, she agreed.

With a nod of her head, "Well, I guess I can consider going. I mean if you really want me to." Unbeknownst to the lady, her blushing ears betrayed her expectations.

"That's great! Everyone was looking forward to you joining!" The girl packed away her pictures and phone ecstatic about the upcoming trip, "I'll see you later Avina! Text me when you're home." With a tight hug and a wave goodbye, the energetic girl went out of the store.

Avina bid goodbye to her good friend, Bea, while sipping on her coffee. She peered out the windows wondering about the trip. She had not wanted to go to the beach because she never had fun before. What difference is this trip from all the other trips she had taken? At least the trip to the ski resort was far more fun.

But unwilling to damper Bea's mood, she relinquished in the end. After all, it was hard to find a good friend, and harder to find a friend fit for a princess.

A few weeks later, on one sunny evening, Avina was piling her bags into the trunk of Bea's car. In the trunk, there was baggages of various sizes and colors. Amongst suit cases of blues, reds, greens, blacks, and whites, there were an overwhelming amount of pinks. Light pink, fuchsia pink, dark pink, pastel pink, all pinks.

"Are you ready? Do you need help?" Bea came out of the front door wearing a white t-shirt, shorts, flip flops, sunglasses, and her purse. She lifted her sunglasses up to her head ready to grab the remaining baggage and stuff them in the trunk.

Once they were finally on the road, Bea talked about all the people who were going to be there, all the activities planned out, how beautiful it was. She talked of how school was going, if there were any boys Avina might be interested in, whether the new cake shop was good or not, and of so many more interesting topics. The car was filled with excessive chatter, and both of them enjoyed each other's company.

"You know that cake shop near Coven?" Bea signaled left while continuing her talk, "I heard that the cashier there is really handsome."

Avina glanced at her phone realizing that 2 hours had passed already. She tilted her chin up answering, "He couldn't be more good looking than me." Avina had no doubts about her good looks.

Her hair had a healthy glow and bounce and her eyes were like a big pool of stars. Her cheeks had a rosy glow and her lips were plump and sweet. She may not have been born a millennium beauty, but she was a beauty regardless.

Bea giggled as she pacified Avina as always, "Yes, yes. There is no one better looking than our Avina. You're just a doll!"

After being Avina's friend for so long, no matter how cold or narcissistic Avina got, Bea was used to it. In fact, it could be a talent Bea had gotten for complimenting people.

"You're smart, pretty, and talented. There's not a better girl out there than you," Bea continued her compliments with none of them being uttered twice. Avina accepted the compliments calmly but her blushing ears betrayed her emotions once more.

As Avina was bathed in compliments and Bea focused on looking at the twining roads figuring out which one to take, neither of them noticed a truck speeding behind them. Just as Bea was making a right turn, the truck hit the right side of the car, injuring the passenger side. Bea lost control of the car steering it away from incoming traffic but could not stop it from colliding with the truck.

Avina hit her head on the glass window bleeding a bit from the wound. Her consciousness was still there until Bea hit the truck full on. The emergency airbags activated but hers were too late. Her head had another impact with the window, this time knocking her unconscious.

In the midst of her slipping mind, she could hear passersby coming to help their car. Her last thought before she completely lost consciousness was, 'what would Bea do without her princess?'
