Capítulo 4: When It Rains, It pours (1)

Kei arrived in his dorm room with sweat running down his back. The thoughts that were running through his head were slightly jumbled, but he knew one thing for certain; He had to leave the school and leave there now. It was only a matter of time until the authorities were notified about the raging fire at the library along with the burnt corpses of his ex-nemesis' goons. Once they were able to identify those boys it wouldn't take long until he was blamed and charged with second degree murder. This was the thought that boomed in his head as he shoved all his stuff that could fit inside his bookbag and ran out of the door.

The sky began to cry in pain as the strange red lightning continued to streak the horizon. Kei, in his now wet school uniform, trudged down the streets. The wet clothes clung to his body leaving him looking like a stray. His brown cloud like hair now was sopped and clung to his forehead. He continued walking aimlessly. There was no destination in his mind.

Kei had only packed a couple of clothes and the bare essentials for hygiene in his bag. As it was late at night, Kei's body began to tire out but the need to keep moving away from that horrid place kept him moving down the almost empty streets. In a trance like state, Kei walked through the town. From somewhere, you could hear the beeping of cars and men and women whispering about the phenomenon in the sky. No one paid attention to the fluffy haired teen's comings and goings. No one noticed his soaked body moving down alleys and around corners. His body moved like a forgotten ghost in the breeze. When Kei finally woke from his trance, he found himself at the doors of the only place he has ever called home. This was the small, but well known, church in which Father Mark reared him. Where he learned the kindness of the lord, but the cruelness of men. This place was a good 28 kilometres from the school grounds, which meant that he had been walking for a little over 5 hours, and yet he didn't notice at all. His body shivered as he realized just how wet and cold he was. He needed to go in. Hopefully, Father Mark wasn't in so that Kei would not have to explain himself.

He pushed open the door of the church and was welcomed to a pitch-black corridor. Thanks to the moonlight coming in through the entranceway and the crystal paned windows Kei could barely make out the marble idol of Jesus on the cross. In the darkness, the Christ gave a depressing and creepy aura. Kei had never really liked this depiction of the Christ. Out of all the good things he had done within his life, everyone only remembered and glorified his suffering, his death. Kei shook his head and headed on to the back of the church, past the confession box, to a long corridor that housed his old bedroom. There were no windows within the room, so the only would be source of light was a little table lamp on his old desk in the corner. The bulb had long blown but as no one stayed in the room when Kei was away, it had gone unnoticed. This small desk was were Kei had spent most of his time, hiding away from the rest of the world. It was his sanctuary. Here, where Kei could be alone, He would write letters to God, asking him questions that no one else could give the answer to.

On the opposite wall was a small twin sized bed in which Kei had slept before he was shipped off to that literal hell hole of a school. Just seeing the bed made a wave of exhaustion crash down onto our poor Kei. As he flopped down onto the covers, Kei began to wonder about his next moves. He could not stay here forever. Once everyone knows that he is missing, he'll become prime subject number 1. He would probably have to leave the country…no… He would need to change his identity first. Where could he get a new identity from anyway? He had not thought this far ahead.

'Shit, the only thing I thought of was that I had to run…fu*k!' Kei cussed himself for being short-sighted. Why had he not thought of a plan before now? Well, he wasn't guilty of anything. He didn't kill those boys, nor had he set the library on fire, but who would believe him now that he ran away? Fu*k. Kei quickly succumbed to his fatigue while he was ridiculing himself. The sound of rain grew stronger and stronger as the night continued. If Kei had had a window, he would have noticed that in flash of bloody lightning, a lanky black figure stood by his bedroom door watching.
