Capítulo 1: Chapter 1

A young man wearing black, greek armor wad equipped with a simple spear in one hand and holding a shield with another. He had a sword attached to his waist and was currently in the midst of an intense battle.

The boy rushed ahead and stabbed straight with his spear, only to have the blow deflected by the ethereal green shield in came in contact with.

The younger man had to hurry and raise his shield to block the sword strike that was coming at him.

"You strike fast, boy. But without your gifts, you are fighting too recklessly. A warrior must know what his limits are on his best days, his worst days, and every type of day in between " the ghostly figure going against the young man tried to advise but his advise was falling on deaf ears.

The young man roared as he pushed forward with his shield and knocked the ghostly figure off balance. He then began to bash with his shield at the figures defenses, striking again and again using the strength he had limited himself to.

"Kratos!" a feminine voice called out, just as the young man had broken through his enemy's defense and was ready strike them down with a spear.

The young man turned and saw a woman that could only be described as divine. The red dress she wore with flowers acting as decorations stood out in the dark and dreary cave the trio were in. Her blonde hair was also practically shining thanks to the green and red lights that liimunated the cave, unlike the boy's plain black hair

"Lady Persephone," the ghostly figure greeted as he knelt on one knee to show his respect

"Mother," Kratos replied as his weapons and shield turned into a purple mist that soon disappeared.

The duo looked nothing alike. Most would assume they were a step siblings due to how young Persephone looked.

Kratos was tall, being 7'7" with a muscular build warriors would be envious of while his mother was only a little over 6' and looked like a noble woman who had never left her room. His head shaved but small amounts of black stubble could be seen on top while his long black beard looked the opposite of his mother's blonde hair. His tanned skin that looked as if he lived under the sun was completely different from Persephone's pale skin that looked as if she never saw sunlight. Even their very auras were different as standing near or looking at Kratos would make one feel nervous or afraid from the constant pressured he exuded while gazing upon Persephone would allow one to feel relaxed.

But those that looked closely at the pair could see the similarities between. They both had light brown eyes that turned to amber under the right conditions. The way they both gave a gentle smile to the other were mirrors that could swap places at any time.

Thr similarities were small but they were there. And that was more than the pair even needed.

"Follow me, my child. Your father and I have something to discuss with you," Persephone told her son. Without waiting for his reply, flowers began to bloom all over his body as well as Persephone's until they were completely covered. And when the flowers soon fell the floor, neither of the pair could be seen.

The spirit that had been dueling Kratos shook his head and sighed before feeling his spirit getting pulled off into the distance as his face began to turn blank. Before it was completely absorbed into Well of the Dead, the man could no longer be recognized and confused with any other warrior of his station.

Back with Kratos, he appeared inside of a large throne room as he saw his mother sitting on a throne while father sat on one of equal size, showing how Hades viewed his wife.

Kratos looked at his father and saw just how similar to the pair were. Both had shaved heads with small amounts of black stubble as well as muscular builds that showed they were warriors. The duo wore similar armor and stood at the height. Even their beards were identical in greatness. The only real differences between the two was Kratos' beard and their eyes.

Kratos took his mother's eyes while his father had red eyes that would illuminate even the darkest of rooms. Hades' eyes were filled with the wisdom a thousand kings that showed his true age and maturity.

Kratos kneeled before his parents, knowing they would only call him to the throne room for an important reason.

"Kratos," Hades called out with an ancient voice. This would unnerve most but to those that were used to his presence they knew this was just how the God of the Dead spoke. "You still have yet to find your divinity? Even after all this time?"

Kratos lowered his head in shame before nodding. This was something that had never happened before among the gods. Each god would know their purpose and role from the moment they were born. The only exceptions to this were the demigods.

And that was the puzzling question. Why was Kratos only a demigod when both of his parents were gods?

He was the only son of Hades and Persephone, the only pair of gods within the Greek Pantheon who had never tried to fool around with others while married or even feel attraction to others. There was no question if Persephone had stepped outside her marriage. The question was: what was wrong with Kratos? After 30 years, Kratos was still not a true god.

He knew not his divine purpose nor what type of life he was destined to live. His parents had tried everything, even consulting the Sisters of Fate. But according to them, Kratos' fate was not something they could read. Even Zeus, the King of Gods, could not completely immune to their ability to read fate yet Kratos was.

After much discussion, Persephone and Hades had come to a decision.

"Then you we shall reveal your existencez" Hades announced, surprising Kratos by their decision

'They... are they not ashamed of me? They have hidden me away for so long, never letting me meet any of the other gods. But now they wish to reveal me?' Kratos was so confused by the entire situation that he was unable to react. Besides, Hades did not wait for him to react either.

"We shall send you to the world of men. That is where Alcides was able to complete his labors and become a god as well as where that niece of mine has been for several decades and also earned her divinity.

You are to go and learn from her and the men above. Learn as much as you can before finding your place in their world. And once you do, you should find your place in ours."

Kratos had only learned from Hades, Persephone, and the dead souls that existed in their realm. But learning from them could only give Kratos so much knowledge and experience.

Persephone and Hades may have been gods but they were gods of very specific domains. They could only provide insight over their domains and little of what they knew about the other gods. But none of their knowledge had helped Kratos find his own path to divinity in the past.

As for modern knowledge, they were divine beings that stayed away from the world of men, especially since they ruled the underworld together. Persephone only left for half the year and spent almost all that time with her mother. Hades was even worse as he only left the underworld when he absolutely needed to.

The dead were even less useful. Most of those rhat died were at least 200 years old if not older. Few worshipped the Greek gods in the modern day which meant that few souls could give Kratos insight that was very radical compared to the others.

So in Hades' eyes, the best way to allow Kratos to find his own divinity was to enter the world of men to see the world in a way that he could never experience in the underworld.

After discussing it several times with Persephone, the pair decided to send Kratos to learn under Diana as she was the person in the world of men they trusted most. Those who worshipped them would be biased in many ways and may corrupt Kratos, sending him down the wrong path. In their eyes, most mortals were fools. There were still many that associated Hades as the God of Death instead of the God of the Dead.

So after a short discussion, it was decided that Kratos would leave in March, the same time that Persephone would visit her mother. Once the discussion was done, Kratos left his parents alone to talk as he returned to his room and prepared for his departure.
