Capítulo 39: Tolos

On a large galleon stood a very tall man with an ax in his hand. That was the definition of a Viking man, that man was Victarion Greyjoy.

Victarion led the attack by sea and his mission was to bomb the walls with barrels of wildfire and bolts of triggerfish. He had to harass Tolos' defenses on the maritime side to reduce the soldiers on the other walls.

Meanwhile, Arthur, Gerold, and Oswell attacked the walls with the soldiers on the ground and their mission was to penetrate the city quickly and to kill all the opponents and to lock up all the master slavers of the city.

~~~~~~
The fleet was heading towards the city and in the distance, the crew could see fishing and trading boats near the port.
"It looks like they don't know we're here."
Victarion spoke calmly but a wild smile appeared on his face.
"It's the best. We will take them by surprise and quickly."
Victarion sent signals to the various vessels in the fleet to transmit information and in less than 5 minutes, the fleet will accelerate at full sail.
~~~~~~

On the city walls, soldiers were playing knucklebones.

"Damn Hytez! You're so lucky, you always win!"

"Ahaha! The harpy watch over me my friend!"

"He! What harpy? The one you sleep with?"

"Ahaha! It's true, your wife is scary, did you see her head ?!"

"Yes, my son has had nightmares about it!"

"Shut up! You're just jealous, you filthy bastards!"

"Ahaha!"

"Ahaha!"

The three soldiers were playing on the walls as usual. Tolos has never been attacked except by a few small bandits who have all been killed.

As the three soldiers amused themselves, one of them suddenly froze. Seeing their companion freeze and pali, the other two asked.

"What is it Kraz? Did you see a ghost?"

With a trembling finger, he pointed to the sea.

"What? Have you seen a mermaid or a ghost?"

"Yeah! Why are you shaking like a little girl?"

"E- Ene- Enemies ... ENEMIES!"

"What?!"

With Kraz's cry, his two friends jumped up and when they saw the huge fleet offshore, the two turn white.

"SHIT!"

"Aqui belongs to this fleet ?!"

"We don't care! We have to go and inform Master Asyel!"

The three left their posts and rushed to the barracks.

In the barracks, a man in luxurious clothes was having fun with women.

"Ahaaa ~ Master ~!"

"Hehehe! Move your slave ass!"

Dark noises were heard in the captain's room when suddenly cries were heard outside the door.

"We have to talk to the master!"

"It's urgent!"

Yes, it is a matter of life and death! "

The master who was having a good time was disturbed by all these noises and he got up in anger wearing a simple dress. When he opened the door, he saw three men who were basic soldiers.

"What do you want! You are disturbing me at work!"

The three men bowed but then Kraz stepped forward with sweats on the forehead.

"Master Dreny, there is an unknown fleet heading towards the city! There are hundreds of ships!"

"What ?! Are you kidding me! Guards, take this rubbish out of my sight! Who would dare to attack Tolos when she is allied with Mereen and the big Loraq family."

Two guards saw and grabbed the soldiers by the arms to throw him out of the barracks, but Kraz struggled.

"No! Believe me, master! I swear in the name of the great harpy! If I lie I will become a slave!"

The master seeing his stubbornness clicked on his tongue.

"Good. But if I don't see any ship I will reduce your whole family to slavery. Understood!"

Kraz nodded profusely because he had no choice.

The master accompanied by the three men and twenty soldiers climbed to the top of the barracks watchtower to watch the sea.

Going to the top, Dreny looked at the sea in front of him and quickly he froze with all his soldiers in fear.

In front of the city walls facing the city were hundreds of ships. On each ship, Dreny could see hundreds or thousands of men.

"W-Who is attacking us ?!"

His men did not speak. Dreny came to his senses and quickly gave orders.

"Men, go tell each officer to keep the walls even with their lives! I want all the slaves capable of holding a sword on the walls!"

"Yes!"

The men left the watchtower and each ran towards the residences of the officers which were master slavers.

Dreny at the top of the tower continued to watch this huge fleet with fear.

"Who the hell is attacking us? It's been centuries since Slaver's Bay has not been attacked. Why am I feeling unwell."

Dreny was trembling and an idea germinated in his head.

Dreny descended from the tower and with his men he ran towards his residence.

~~~~~~
On the other side, Victarion divided the fleet into three parts.
Tolos was on a V-shaped peninsula, two city walls were facing the sea and two groups of ships were to bomb the walls. The last group was the largest, it was the ships that had to land the soldiers on the ground to take the city.
When the city had not yet given the alarm and only a part of the soldiers had seen the fleet, Victarion gave the order to attack.
The ships began to bombard the city walls with wildfire and ballista tiles. The barrels of wildfire that crashed on the walls burned the soldiers and their cries echoed on the walls. The wildfire even melted the stone of the walls.
The ballista bolts aimed at the soldiers and the areas of the archers who tried to hit the ships with flaming arrows without result.
Victarion amused himself by watching the soldiers of Tolos being massacred. They were helpless in the face of ships which could bombard the walls from afar without being hit by their arrows. The despair of seeing the enemy but not being able to hurt him while he is killing you is overwhelming.
~~~~~~

On land, Arthur, Gerold, and Oswell had just landed with 32,000 men. There were 18,000 infantrymen making up 4 legions of 5,000 ~ and 14,000 horsemen making up 4 groups.

Gerold commanded 14,000 infantrymen and 7,000 horsemen. Arthur and Oswell had the other half. Gerold was a qualified general it is for this reason that he was the Lord Commander of the royal guard despite the strength of Arthur Dayne.

Before the walls, Gerold had no archers because all had remained on the ships attacking the walls facing the sea. Archers were the soldiers most qualified to use the ballistae and the catapults containing the wildfire.

Aslan had banned the use of iron balls containing the wildfire because it was too destructive and it would destroy the city in which they were to settle.

Gerold knew the city was hanging on a thread and he only needed to open the doors to allow the cavalry to enter and the battle would be over.

He looked at the walls to notice a breach in their defenses. Under his experienced gaze, he immediately saw that the western part of the wall was fragile because it was an area where the bombing of the ships was close. The soldiers of Tolos moved away from this area for fear of being killed by the wildfire or the triggerfish tiles. There were few men to defend this position.

Gerold turned around and looked at the soldiers wearing a red cape behind him. He instructed the officers to subtly target the western part of the wall before encouraging the soldiers.

"Men! Prepare to charge. I give you my word, one assault and the city will be ours. This city will be our base for the future! Are you ready to shed the blood of your enemies!"

"Yeah!"

"So let's color the soil with the blood of these slavers! Charge!"

"AHAAAAAAA !!!!!" The soldiers rushed with swords in their hands and ladders in front.

The arrows were raining down on them and some of them fell to the ground never to get up. However, they were little to be injured or to die. The majority of Aslan's soldiers wore leather armor reinforced with iron and their shields were more resistant than normal. These soldiers were the light infantry, the heavy infantry he left it in Cersei because they had families in Lannisport where they did not wish to leave.

The men crashed onto the walls and quickly the ladders were placed against the wall. The soldiers of Tolos used their swords to cut the ladders to prevent the enemies from going up.

The conflict lasted 1 hour before the first soldiers managed to climb the walls and start the fight.

Bloody cries echoed on the walls. Swords danced on the walls reflecting the sun's rays if they did not reflect blood. The soldiers of Aslan had an overwhelming advantage because compared to the soldiers of the inexperienced and dominated Slaver's Bay, the soldiers of Aslan were an elite.

Beneath the walls Gerold watched the fight silently but as time passed his eyes moved more and more towards the west of the wall.

To the west of the wall, the red soldiers had almost completely wiped out the soldiers from Tolos. Gerold seeing his plan work smiles.

"A little more and we will have the walls."

Gerold looked at the few soldiers at his side and with some orders, they too joined the assault on the wall with Gerold.

Gerold although less than Arthur was a great swordsman and he too participated in many battles, the battlefield is a habit for him and he had to join the fight.

Gerold joined the fight on the wall alongside the soldiers and his sword skill was remarkable. No soldier could touch it while he himself could manage several. The soldiers of Tolos were inferior to those of Westeros, the only ones able to stand up to them were the Unsullied, the Iron Legions and some other elites.
