Jing Ling was impressed by the child's ability to withstand the intensity of the potent Celestial Essence consistently releasing from his body.  The first Mortal he engaged with since his ascension as a Celestial beast had proved to be a fatal counter.

The man had perished from the extremities of his Celestial Essence.

Thus, the Celestial Emperor had decreed that Jing Ling and other Celestial Beasts were forbidden from interacting with Mortals.

Yet, the child before him had not even flinched nor reacted negatively to his presence, except for the fact that he might have been frightened by Jing Ling's arrival.

"I have run off from my partner," Jing Ling admitted. "I miss the Mortal Realm dearly…there is much of it that I loved when I was still Mortal but I will never have the opportunity to see any of it again."
