Capítulo 73: Chapter 71 : Fairy Law!!

Everit slowly approached, speaking as he walked:

"The Fairy Law can overcome darkness with light and destroy any target the caster sees as an enemy. It has a wide range and deals significant damage."

Laxus looked at him with some surprise. "You know about this?" he asked.

Everit shrugged. "The Master tried to teach me, but I didn't want to learn it. It's too dangerous."

He paused.

"Using that kind of magic drains a lot of energy and strength. Plus, I don't see the point in taking unnecessary risks. If I can't win, I'd rather just run away."

The real burden of learning that kind of magic, Everit knew, was the responsibility that came with it. Accepting the teachings of the Fairy Law also meant accepting a certain role within the guild, and he wasn't interested in that.

"I don't want to be the Guild Master," he admitted. "Managing Natsu and everyone else? That would be a nightmare."

Moreover, once someone learns this kind of powerful magic that acts as a last resort in times of crises, the user will think of self-destruction to avoid even minor crises.

"Then try to stop me," Laxus said defiantly.

"Everit, do something!" Gray shouted.

"Nope," Everit replied, shaking his head. "Go ahead, Laxus."

"What?" Laxus, Gray, and everyone else was taken aback by his casual response.

Everit didn't seem to be too concerned. He stepped into the glowing magical aura surrounding Laxus, pulled out a bottle of medicine, and gave it to Makarov, who seemed to relax almost instantly.

After making sure the Master was okay, Everit turned to Laxus. "There's no such thing as invincible magic, Laxus."

Laxus laughed. "Oh really? Let's see about that." He started preparing his spell with no hesitation.

"Sure, go for it," Everit said, his voice light and casual. "I'm eager to see it."

"Three," Laxus started counting down.

"Everit, Laxus, cut it out!" Gray yelled, his voice growing desperate.

"Laxus!" Natsu tried to get up, but he was too weak. He stumbled and fell.

"Two," Laxus continued.

Gray and the others started to panic. Everit, however, was still smiling.

"Yeah, Laxus, unleash it. Destroy everyone who annoys you, everyone you hate, everyone who lets you down. That includes me, Natsu, Gray, the Master and everyone in the guild."

"I know you've got the power."

"And I will never stop you from using this magic!"

"One"

Laxus was about to unleash his power when Everit shouted at him, "Do it, Laxus! I trust you! The outcome is already determined!"

Laxus froze, his hand trembling. He was about to strike, but something held him back.

It was Everit's words. They sparked something deep in his memory, unlocking images he hadn't thought about in a long time.

Lisanna's voice echoed in his mind. "Thanks for protecting me, Brother Laxus," she said, tears streaming down her cheeks.

"Does it hurt? You look hurt."

"It's nothing, Lisanna. I'm the Guild Master's grandson. It's my job to protect you!" Laxus replied with a smile.

His clothes were torn, and his body bore the signs of battle. Footprints were all over him, and his face had a few bruises, but he still managed to smile with pride and strength.

He remembered lying on the grass with Natsu, both of them exhausted from their battle.

"Darn it, Laxus! Next time, I'll beat you for sure!" Natsu shouted.

"Hahaha! Natsu, you're not even close!" Laxus teased.

Then Natsu grinned and said, "I'm hungry, Laxus."

Laxus laughed, "Let's go catch some rabbits. Think you can still walk?"

"Of course!" Natsu replied, jumping to his feet.

Laxus also remembered walking down the street with Gray.

Gray pointed at a shop and asked, "Hey, Laxus, what's that place? It looks different from the other shops."

Laxus quickly pulled Gray away. "Stay away from there. Gildarts said we shouldn't go there."

"Got it," Gray nodded, understanding.

In the guild, Lisanna had asked Laxus to join her on a quest.

"I need to save money to buy my sister a birthday present, but she only trusts Elfman to go on quests with her," she explained, a bit downcast.

Before Laxus could answer, Natsu jumped in, "I'll go with you, Lisanna!"

"Me too!" Gray chimed in, raising his hand.

The memories reminded Laxus of the bond he had with his guildmates. It wasn't just about power or proving his strength. It was about family, loyalty, and caring for each other.

He let go of his magic, and the light in his eyes softened. He knew he didn't need to fight this battle. His friends were here with him, and that was all that mattered.

"Why do I have to go out with this idiot?" Natsu and Gray were at it again, trading punches.

"Let's get going. What's the job, Lisanna?" Laxus asked as he took off his headphones.

"Something about chasing off some wild boars."

"Awesome! I'm gonna take down three of them!" Natsu exclaimed.

"I'll take four!" Gray shot back.

"Fine, I'll take down five!"

"Six!"

"Seven!"

"Would you two quit it and get moving already?" Laxus smacked them both on the head to break up their bickering.

Outside the guild, the new recruit was acting up.

"Hey, you! Stop fooling around. You think it's funny to mess with people?" Laxus was glaring at him.

"I think it's pretty entertaining," the new guy replied, adjusting his glasses.

"Don't get cocky in Fairy Tail, understand?" Laxus growled.

"Oh, I get it, you're the Master's grandson, Laxus. What's this, you're trying to run the guild now?"

"That's got nothing to do with it!"

"Well, then what I do has nothing to do with you."

"You're really annoying, you know that?"

"Then why don't you do something about it, huh? Come on, little Brontosaurus—"

"Why, you...!"

The fight was over in no time. Laxus was lying on the ground, catching his breath, watching the new guy leaning against the wall.

"What's your name, anyway?" Laxus managed to ask.

"Everit," the new guy replied, smirking.

"Hmph, next time, I'll be the one standing and you'll be on the ground!" Laxus grumbled.

"No!"

"I don't care about any of this memory!"

Laxus shouted, "You're all going to hell!"

"The Fairy Law—"

"Activate!"

A low hum accompanied the eruption of golden light that flooded the entire city, so bright that it blinded everyone.

Yet no one felt afraid.

Instead, a warmth spread through them, like standing under the gentle sun on a crisp winter day.

The mages even felt their magical power rejuvenated.

Natsu, Gray, and Gajeel stood in shock, watching the golden light contract and then take the shape of a human.

Laxus.

Why?

"Why?" Laxus couldn't believe his eyes.

No one was harmed.

The Fairy Law had been activated. So why was no one hurt?

He turned to look at Everit, who was smiling calmly.

"Laxus, are you happy with yourself?" Everit asked with a smirk. "You arrogant fool, do you understand your own intentions now?"

"No!" Laxus shouted, furious. "Everit, you messed with my magic!"

"Sure, think of it that way," Everit replied casually. "If that's what helps you cope, then fine. But now it's my turn to be your opponent."

"I will defeat you!" Laxus took a deep breath, feeling his energy drain.

His magic was almost depleted.

And he couldn't replenish his strength.

The fact that his Fairy Law had no effect was baffling and, strangely, a little comforting. He was filled with conflicting emotions.

Various debuffs.

He realized that defeating Everit was no longer just a challenge—it was nearly impossible. Even beating Natsu and the others seemed like an enormous task.

But he couldn't back down. Not now. Not after everything that had happened.

Natsu and the others stood up, but this time, they didn't make a move.

"Everit!" Laxus charged at Everit, lightning crackling in his hands!
