When they had almost polished the decorations off the dishes, the one she thought was Darren pushed his chair back.
“Wow, Miss Brandi, you’re a wonderful cook! I know for sure now that we want to marry you. How is such a talented woman still not married?”
Sensing she’d have to watch how she replied, she smiled. “The right man just hasn’t come along. I knew better than to decide too fast and end up with someone I’d be unhappy with, just as he’d be unhappy with me. I’m sure I’ll know when it’s the right time.”
They clearly had to think about this for a moment, and did. She busied herself cleaning up from the meal. As soon as she cleared the table and loaded the dishwasher, she turned back to catch both young men watching her every move with avid interest.
She gave them an encouraging smile, sensing there was something else they wanted to say or perhaps ask.
