“I think you’re both working on getting an education while you’re here, aren’t you? Learning how people live out in the regular world, I mean. Bet you’d like to try a glass of beer just to know how it tastes and then see how some other women dance. You might find one of them even more appealing than me, maybe to marry or whatever, you know.”

“What time should we be there? I think we can find it. In fact, the place the day laborers meet isn’t far from there. It’s on Frontera Street, too. We were there yesterday checking on work.”

“The club opens at six. I have to be there a bit earlier to get ready. I wear a costume so I have to dress and do my make-up before I perform. If you want me to take you in, I can do that and let the manager know you’re my friends. You have to be quiet and behave nice, though.”

She grinned at their shocked looks and gave them a saucy wink. “No jacking off in public or trying to grab any of the women and stuff. Can you remember that?”
