Capítulo 1: Chapter 1: Beginning

1398

In a cave high atop a snow-covered mountain, an ice blue western Dragon with ocean blue eyes impatiently awaits the birth of her hatchling.

"Sigh…"

"If only your father were here." She lamented, her eyes clouding briefly, and memories of a certain red Dragon entering her mind.

"Sigh…"

She sighed again.

She's been doing that more often as of late; ever since her mate left.

Would he still be considered her mate? No, not in her eyes at least. He abandoned her to fulfill his selfish desires, and as a result, was foolishly sealed.

Is she upset? Of course! The father of her child, and the man she chose to bond with, is gone! Who wouldn't be?! But even if she harbored these thoughts before, literally and figuratively, he is dead to her now.

Once he had chosen a fight, once he had chosen to leave her, she chose to raise their hatchling on her own.

'Who needs him?!' She thought angrily, blue flames expelling from her nose.

'I hope he and that white Dragon are happy in whatever after life they're in. Heh~ who am I kidding? Of course they are. Even after we copulated in our human forms, he would constantly talk about his encounters with that Dragon. 'Albion this, Albion that.' No matter what the occasion, if it had anything to do with his 'rival', he just wouldn't shut up! Wait… was he gay? But he gave me a child. So he can't be gay… Right? RIGHT?!'

While the pale blue Dragon was combing through her memories, trying to convince herself that her mate didn't prefer his own sex, the egg she was intently watching moments earlier began to hatch.

*CRACK* *CRACK*

Hearing a breaking noise, the blue Dragon whipped her head towards the sound, her eyes widening, and heart fastening.

'My baby.'

Rushing towards the egg, the blue Dragon was just in time to see her hatchling breaking its head out of the shell.

Dark blue scales cover its body with four white horns on its head, two on either side, curling upwards, and two positioned in the middle going straight back, just above its heterochromic eyes, the left emerald green, and the right ocean blue.

"ROAR!!"

Fully breaking the shell, the newborn Dragon stood for the first time, raising its head, and spreading its wings wide, letting out a high-pitched roar.

"CUTE!!" The blue Dragon couldn't help but squeal. How could she not?!

Standing before her is a beautiful, newborn baby Dragon roaring cutely as if to say, 'I've arrived world, and I'm here to fuck shit up!'

'AHH! He's so cute! And he's my son! Mine!' The blue Dragon thought, her eyes staring possessively at her hatchling.

In her heart, she had already placed him higher than treasure. Yes… treasure.

If someone asked her asked to part with all the treasure she accumulated in order to save her son, unlike any normal Dragon, she would say 'goodbye' to all her wealth without hesitation. It's blasphemous, and she knows that.

Dragons aren't known for being sentimental beings; they are known for being prideful and selfish.

They would often have offspring, and when their hatchlings are of age, kick them out of their home, having no worries about if they live or die; being more concerned about their treasure, and if they've acquired enough jewels to sleep on.

The blue Dragon doesn't want her hatchling to experience such a thing; to experience what she did. For her hatchling, she will be a doting and loving mother Dragon, and if she's labeled less of one for it, then so be it.

It matters not what the others of her race think; as far as she's aware, her son is all that matters now.

Furling his wings and lowering his head, the hatching confusedly gazed at his surroundings before setting his eyes upon the blue Dragon.

When their eyes met, neither moved nor blinked, not that they had to.

There was silence for what seemed like minutes before the blue Dragon spoke, still looking into her son's heterochromic eyes:

"Hello, I am your mother, Tiamat," she said lovingly, her ocean blue eyes growing soft, "I've thought of many names give you, your father included, but as you can see he is not with us. And although he is your father, I'm not willing to take into consideration the names he put forth; after all, he abandoned us." She cast a somber glance to no where before continuing:

"That said, my son, henceforth you will be known as Tahmut, the first born of the Dragon Queen, my Dragon Prince." She said softly, and with her claw gently scratched under Tahmut's chin.

Pulling his head away from his mother's claw, Tahmut roared once again as if to affirm his name, expelling a small stream of purple flames with red and blue undertones out of his nose.

"Beautiful." Tiamat murmured.

'So it's a mixture and combination of my and his father's flames.' Tiamat thought with a sigh, her mind going back to the man, or Dragon, that captured her heart only to break it.

'Tahmut is all I need. I won't leave him like his father left me! NEVER!'

Nodding her Dragon head with fervor, eyes brimming with determination, Tiamat stopped thinking about the past, and looked toward her future, who at the moment was taking his first steps, bringing a smile to her face.

"Never." She said in a whisper.

Tahmut (10 years old)

Perched on a cliff's edge overlooking a vast forest, heterochromic eyes diligently track its prey, following its every movement.

Seeing it rest at the side of a lake, Tahmut stood from his perch, his height 6ft and length 23ft, and dove head first off the edge, speeding toward the ground like a meteor to Earth.

Halfway through his descent, Tahmut spread his wings, and glided over the forest, gently landing on a tree canopy just behind the lake without alerting his prey.

With a wing span of 35ft, most prey would often notice the approach of Tahmut, and did, but the still unaware 5 foot, blue Cockatrice proceeded to bathe itself before laying under a tree, and hungrily eating what looked like a fresh kill right beside it.

Stealthy crawling down the tree, ending up behind a dense bush, Tahmut waited patiently for the perfect opportunity to catch his prey.

'Now!'

Jumping from behind the bush like a stalking Cheetah, Tahmut leaped in the air, covering a distance of 30ft, and landed behind the now aware, but all too late, blue Cockatrice.

Opening his mouth, Tahmut secreted a small amount of poison from his teeth and bit into the neck of the Cockatrice, paralyzing it instantly, leaving the poor, rooster-like Dragon to wonder what just happened.

Munching on his delicious spoils, Tahmut thought on his current strength and want for more.

'I need to get stronger. Mother says we won't participate in the war and that it's none of our concern, but that doesn't mean the war won't concern itself with us. Mother is a Dragon Queen. There will surely be beings aiming to slay her. I have to be strong. What son would I be if I'm not?

It's not just the want to protect my mother that motivates me to grow stronger. No, my want for strength is for more selfish reasons, and these reasons just happen to align with the goal of protecting my mother. Heh~ As the humans say, 'it's like knocking two birds out with one stone'.

But, mother doesn't like the idea. We would often get into disagreements about who's protecting who, which normally results in us not speaking for a while, before reconciling days later.

It was only recently, and through my persistence, that I managed to wear her down, and she finally agreed to teach me, but she also said she will call a 'friend' as well. I wonder who that may be?'

Deep in his thoughts, and his food, Tahmut didn't notice a dark purple tail hurdling in his direction.

*BOOM*

*CRACK*

Tahmut could hear his bones break as he flew backward, skipping across the lake, and slamming into multiple trees, only stopping thanks to a massive boulder.

"Pathetic," Tahmut heard a deep voice speak with disappointment, "To think you're his son. To think you're her son, and she would shelter you like this for so long." The voice said, sounding more disappointed.

Looking up from his crater in the boulder, Tahmut widened his eyes.

'Dark purple, almost maroon colored scales, two curved, yellow horns on his head, red eyes with lavender scleras, and 49ft tall,'

"Tanin?"
