Capítulo 8: 8: The one to impress

"Are you done checking her over, Doctor? You should hurry up and not keep our princess waiting. You will be in trouble if she bleeds out."

The nanny tried not to sound impatient, but the doctor could feel the stress as he was being made to hurry up.

"Nanny, I stopped bleeding a long time ago. Doctor, ignore me and focus on my bunny."

The princess had given her order, but it scared the doctor more.

He could feel the pressure the princess was exerting when she looked at him.

'I-I cannot lie to the princess. But if I tell her the truth, I don't know what will happen to me. L-Let's just downplay the situation for now.'

The nanny called the doctor, who had only treated nobles before. As a result, he had never seen a body in such bad condition.

Since his patient was a servant and not a noble, the doctor was out of his element, not knowing if the malnutrition suffered by this body was fine.

"P-Princess, this child is fine. As far as I can tell, she's just a little dehydrated, and that is why she fainted. Giving her water and a full day of rest should get her back on her feet."

The doctor ignored the condition of the servant's feet.

Blood was leaking out of the bandages, likely meaning that the injury had been disturbed.

"See! I told you that it was nothing important, princess! Now, hurry up and get yourself treated. Your wound might get infected if we leave it be-"

The nanny hurried the princess to seek medical help.

And for a second, it looked as if the princess was heading toward the doctor.

However, when the doctor looked up, he noticed that the princess was not looking at him but at the unconscious person lying on the bed behind him.

"Oi doctor, you said my bunny needs water to get better, right? Then, how do we give her water?"

The doctor went slack-jawed at the question.

"W-We need to wait for the patient to wake up and then coax her to drink the water. Otherwise, we can cause her harm and-"

"Eh, that is too much trouble. I know a better way to do this."

The princess grabbed the jug in her hand before she filled her mouth.

Before anyone could stop her or even think what she was trying to do, the princess grabbed Sui's face and smashed their lips together.

Sui's body sagged in relief as cold water went down her throat, giving her the relief she sought.

"Princess, y-you! How could you do this with a servant? Oh god! We will all die if the news of what happened leaks out. Princess, please stop."

The nanny's soul looked to have left her body, and even the doctor looked terrified as they watched the princess prying Sui's lips open and depositing water down her throat.

Sui might be unconscious, but her body seemed to know what it wanted.

It chased after the princess when she pulled back.

The princess's ace showed no expression, but she grabbed the pitcher for more water before continuing.

Finally, Sui seemed to have had enough, so she turned and tried to push her mouth away.

But the princess was adamant about feeding Sui more water.

When the princess finally pulled back, Sui's chest heaved with heavy breaths, but she did not wake up.

"Well, that was a fun experience. Nanny, I have made up my mind. I find my bunny amusing enough to employ her. Go and take care of the paperwork for me."

The princess's eyes shone in amusement, but the nanny collapsed backwards while clutching her heart.

"P-Princess! My princess has been corrupted."

The nanny seemed to struggle to cope with what happened and the princess's demand to employ Sui as a servant.

However, the princess does not care about the nanny's heart attack.

She was busy looking down and grinning at the unconscious servant girl lying on the bed.

...

Sui's throat felt much better when she woke up next time.

The harsh feeling was gone; even her body felt easier to move when she tried.

When Sui woke up, she did not open her eyes immediately; instead, she listened to the sounds of other people in the room.

Once she was sure no one was around her anymore, Sui opened her eyes and sat upright.

It finally gave her enough time to think about what happened.

"The princess chased around I-I and then lost consciousness. Who found me-"

Sui's memory was faulty initially, but it only took her a few seconds to remember what happened.

"Why am I alive? I-I hurt the princess, right? I should have been killed by now."

Sui gasped while clutching her throat.

"I would appreciate it if you die right now as well."

Sui's heart had just calmed down, but the nanny's voice made her break out into cold sweat.

"You are a slave from the Imperial Harem, right? The fact that you don't even have a coloured tag tells me that your status is no better than a slave. And yet, you had the imperial princess touch you. Think about what you have done."

Sui's brain stopped working at the nanny's words.

The old lady had a point when she said all this, and Sui's hostility made her not even want to ask more questions.

"Anyway, hurry up and recover. Once you are done, tell the imperial princess you want to return to your original position."

'You want me to say what to who? Does this old lady lose her marbles at her age? How can she even imagine saying something like this to me?'

Sui opened her mouth to protest, but then she quickly remembered her status and pulled her words down.

'I cannot stand out. I should not argue with older servants, especially if they are of noble birth. It will only serve to cause me trouble.'

The best action was to remain quiet and keep her head down.

Rumours say that Princess Yunjin was fickle, and her opinions and interests changed quickly.

It would not take her long to lose interest in Sui if Sui kept her head down.

On the other hand, the nanny had too many means and connections to make Sui's life harder. It was clear which side Sui needed to please her.
