"~Princess Katy, your eyes shine so brightly, they outshine the luminosity of the moon and stars~"
"~My beloved princess, no red rose in all of the castle can compare to your alluring crimson eyes~"
"~My princess, all I can think about is your lovely hair and dashing smile. You stir up my heart Princess Katy, accept me~"
Katy watched with a wide grin how the princes fought over her character in the game. The love hearts above their head were beaming with red, indicating their likeness to her. It made Katy reel with unimaginable joy.
She wanted all three princes; sadly, the game was programmed for the princess to always end up with Ceaser. Regardless, Katy loved him. Smiling cheekily, she picked Prince Ceaser. Of all, she loved him most because of his blue eyes and snowy white hair.
The game ended. Exhaling in satisfaction, Katy dropped her phone aside and looked out the window. She was traveling to Canada for a concert in her private jet. She sighed happily, thinking of how the crowd would chant her name the moment she got on stage. She couldn't wait.
Looking out the window, Katy's eyes widened. She saw another plane flying at a ridiculously close range to hers. The plane collided with the wing of her jet and it broke off.
The jet lost its balance and started falling. The pilot, as well as Katy, got themselves parachutes and jumped out. As luck may have it, Katy's parachute was blown away by a strong wind and she ended up in the ocean.
Katy couldn't swim. She fell into the cold clutches of death by drowning.
"Am I…dead?" Katy's voice resonated throughout the dark space. Everything was black, making her feel as if she were blind. Even though she spoke, she didn't feel the movement of her lips. She couldn't even feel her legs or arms.
But the fact remains, she felt alive. "Have I been rescued?" Katy asked.
"No. You're dead." A Male voice answered indifferently. Katy could feel his presence but she couldn't see him.
"George, is that you?" Katy asked. George was her pilot and butler.
"No, I'm not George," the voice responded in irritation. "Call me Kirh"
"Kirh? What sort of name is that?" Katy asked. If she had eyebrows, they would be furrowing.
Kirh hissed, muttering "tch! I could be doing anything but this". There was a short pause before Katy heard him again. "Congratulations! You've been given a second chance to live, blah blah blah, you'll be transmigrated to somewhere or something."
Confused, Katy cut in "I don't understand what you're saying, um, Kirh. Speak clearly"
Sighing, Kirh said, "Look, you died, and now you get to come back alive. Do you want it or not?"
"Of course I do! I have a concert to get to," said Katy hastily.
"You want to go back to the world you were in? You can choose somewhere else, you know,"
"Somewhere else?"
"Yes. For example, you can choose to be in a world where fantasy exists, magic, or multiple races. You just have to name it" Kirh explained
Pondering, Katy's mind wandered off to the love simulation she often played. If she was going to be in another world, she wanted to be in one where she would stand out and be in the limelight.
It's her destiny after all.
"Is that what you're going with?" Kirh asked as if reading her thoughts.
"Can you read my mind?" Katy sounded surprised.
"Yes, now, is that what you're going for?" Kirh asked again.
Katy contemplated and answered "Yes"
A smile spread across his face, a smile that Katy was oblivious to. He said "Well then,"
The sudden burst of light caused Katy to squint. She heard Kirh say "Now that you've chosen the world you want to be in, I shall choose your identity"
The lights slowly began to fade. Katy asked, "What will I be?"
Darkness took over once again, leaving Kirh's voice echoing faintly "You'll know soon enough."
Katy's eyes slowly opened. She got up from where she lay, her eyes darting around in puzzlement. As she analyzed the place that looked similar to a kitchen, her wandering eyes reached the outfit she wore.
"What the!?" Katy jerked up, the pink dress fluttering in the process.
Shocked, she shouted, "I'M A MAID!?"
As soon as she said this, she heard a loud deafening call. "ANABEL!" A woman, elderly looking, stomped in with an angry expression.
The woman glared at Katy causing Katy to look around in fright. 'Is she talking to me?' Katy asked herself.
"Why is there still water on the floor of the princess's room? Why haven't you cleaned it yet?" She yelled at her.
Still confused, Katy, or rather Anabel, pointed at herself while mouthing "Me?"
"Are you mad?" The woman pulled her by the ear. Anabel winced in pain while being dragged up the stairs and into the princess's room.
She was pushed to the ground and landed where the spilled water was. Still in a state of shock with a mix of confusion and incredulity etched on her face, Anabel looked up.
Her eyes widened; it was her prince!, Prince Ceaser. He looked at the woman "Chief maid Sarah, is this the incompetent maid?" He asked angrily while glaring at Anabel.
Sarah nodded "I found her hiding away in the kitchen"
Anabel was still confused. Was she the incompetent maid they were talking about?
Caesar looked nothing like she remembered. In the game, he would look at her with eyes full of love and compassion. Now, he only glared. Anabel was frightened.
Angrily, Ceaser walked up to her and pulled her hair.
