From Chenxi's hands came a blade. If Tora hadn't moved slightly to the left, her neck would have been pierced through. She could feel the warm blood trickling down, wetting her hanfu.
THRUST!
Chenxi's movements were deserving of his title of leader. He never stopped to allow the young man a chance to counterattack. Every thrust and swipe of his blade was quick and efficient, aiming for the most vulnerable areas.
If the person he attacked had been anyone else, they would have long been a cold corpse. Tora grinned, hand pressed against the wound on her neck.
She parried his attacks with her golden fan. Her movements lacked urgency, which greatly annoyed the opponent.
Tora analyzed the man. Without the practice and experience of the other two worlds, she would have long died.
Chenxi was at the Soul Formation Realm, a great three realms above hers.
That's what he appears to be.
Tora squinted her eyes in thought. She needed to check his true cultivation status. Although he was stronger, she felt like it was not by much, unlike the leaps and bounds it should have been.
After parrying his strikes a few more times, she began to anticipate his next move. Her eyes watched intently, waiting for the moment to put him down in the least strikes possible.
The tip of his blade came dashing straight for her throat yet again. As it neared her, she threw his momentum off by swiping the tip of his blade at the perfect time, running the golden fan along it while her left fist aimed at his throat.
"UGKKK!" He coughed and choked at the painful pressure knocked against his windpipe.
The fights in this world were more like deadly dances. Beautiful strokes and movements between one another made the perfect choreography. Tora wasn't patient enough a person to dance to someone else whim just for the perfect performance.
Her moves were heavy-hitting, which set her apart from the acrobatics of learned movements that made up stories of the Xianxia genre.
It's no wonder Li Weisheng needed at least 30 pages to describe a singular fight with someone.
Tora took the chance of him leaning forward while grasping for air to kick the blade out of his hands. She worked quickly, head-locking him while simultaneously adding more pressure. The choking caused him to struggle, pulling at her arm and trying to get out of her grip.
As Hallie Moore, she had practiced multiple ways to knock someone out through choking. She had to admit that as a man, it seemed far easier than when she was in a woman's body.
She kicked at his knees, forcefully pushing him down in a kneeling position to better combat his struggles. One arm wrapped tightly against the front of his throat, while the other gripped behind it.
She didn't release him until the struggling stopped and he went limp. With quick succession, she used two fingers and directly poked against his acupoints to immobilize him further.
I'm not taking a chance. This is a world where you can use qi to fix broken bones.
Her mood soured at the darkened sky outside the window. She had wasted most of her day walking in circles in this very forest. She gripped his ankle, dragging him along as she attempted to draw the same rune he had drawn earlier.
"Wha—what have you done to him!?" The paled face of the injured assassin nearly frightened her as she stepped through the portal. Her shouting caused Tora's ears to ring from how loud it was.
"What a surprise." Her cold body shivered under the icy glare of the young immortal. She couldn't help but curse her luck to have encountered such a charming scoundrel who managed to defeat their leader. "It's good that you aren't dead yet."
The foul bloodied body of the assassin was disgusting to Tora. She harshly dragged her along by the neck with her qi, making their way back into the forest.
"As promised, I'll remove the flames." Their vision warped, replacing the run-down temple with lush trees that had been burnt to the ground.
Once the flame was extinguished, words of gratitude appeared written in the soil.
"Keep the others who venture in here at bay like usual. But if I ever return, you have better show me the path to my destination." As if answering her, The trees fluttered and the wind gently caressed her cheeks.
'How dominating of you.'
The note disappeared as soon as she cast the teleportation spell. The back ally spoke of in the novel appeared in front of her. Two nervous figures paced back and forth in the setting sun.
"Feed to your heart's content. I brought you a side dish I happened to encounter as well." The slumped body of the man rolled across the harsh dirt road alongside the frightened assassin.
"Young Master…this is—?" Ningli's eyes widened in shock. The overwhelming scent of blood assaulted her nose, nearly causing her to go feral from how sweet it smelt. Her eyes sharpened in an instant, like that of a predator staring down its prey. "Hmmm?"
The assassin shivered from fright, her eyes pleadingly stared at Chenxi, begging him to wake up and save them from the crisis they were in.
Tora watched her disgustingly paled tongue trail across her lips, licking the air as if to savor the delicious aroma of the meal kneeling before her. She couldn't help but squint her eyes in thought.
A zombie is better looking than this cursed weirdo.
'That's a vile thought. I think Ningli is perfectly enchanting.'
Your taste in people is vile!
"You better start now if you want to win in a fight against your opponent. I brought you the leader of the Demonic cultivators, he's bound to elevate your cultivation, no?"
"The Leader!?" Madame Fu nearly fainted from shock. Her worried gaze lingered on the sleeping man, alternating between him and Young Master Jing Yi. "Are we declaring war against all the Demonic Cultivators?"
"Would you like to see your daughter, Madame? I smelt a lot of youngsters sacrificed to bring back their slumbering Lord. The vile scent of death was quite nauseating."
Her eyes watched the changing colors of the Madame's face. The pain, hatred, and confusion created the most foul scowl she had ever seen. She couldn't hope to understand a mother's pain from losing their child.
I will apologize later…for now, I need your unwavering hatred.
"Of course, we can always find someone else if you have a hard time coming to terms with waging war." A soft smile spread on Tora's lips, eyes looking down slightly as she tapped her fan against her lips. Her words were soft and understanding, almost like she was being considerate of the older lady. "I wouldn't want you to suffer from a bad conscience for having to kill a man and a child."
Although she spoke of it as such, that child participated in the death of many as an assassin. Tora was already annoyed with the world structure, she didn't have the heart to care for a dumb and disgusting teenager.
"I have killed many before this, Young Master. Who do you think finds the people Ningli feeds on? I was simply lost in my pain for a moment. Monsters like these don't deserve my sympathy." Madame Fu cupped her hands and bowed. Her eyes held more determination once she stood back up. "I will devote myself to serving you, Young Master. Thank you for taking pity on us."
"I too, will follow your every whim." Ningli also thanked the distinguished Young Master. Her hungry eyes fell on the two people, her heart beating wildly as she knelt to their level.
"Just don't die when you fight that idiot." Tora sighed. "Savor it, because I won't be feeding you anything else." At her words, the two swallowed their sticky saliva nervously. They weren't entirely sure what the Young Master meant, only watching him leap onto the roof, hiding deep into the shadows to watch over their battle.
Madame Fu felt a relief wash over her. Earlier, she had watched how the Young Master one-sidedly beat down the man he said was after Ningli's title, yet the other man was able to leave without as much as a scratch.
Ningli fighting against the white-haired immortal? Impossible!
Her heart was filled with stress and worry. She decided to trust in Jing Yi, listening to his promise to bring Ningli something that would greatly enhance her Cultivation. That was why they paced around nervously behind the brothel, waiting for the Young Master to appear before the white-haired youth attacked them.
"So appetizing…" Ningli mumbled to herself. She hated that she was a disgusting cursed being that craved human flesh and a cultivated dantian, but there was nothing she could do about it.
Her long nails trailed the trembling teenager, stopping shortly at her chin as she added pressure. The soft groans of pain escaped the quivering lips as nails dug into her chin and cheeks. She couldn't look away from the maniac grin that plastered on the paled beauty.
With her free hand, Ningli traced her sharp nails along the side of her temples, dragging them down as she sliced them open. Blood gushed from the deep wounds, its aroma dizzying the Demon Lord with its richness.
Her tongue stretched outward, slithering like a snake as it slurped the dripping fluid. The girl begged softly, her soul aching from every lick the woman delivered. It felt like she was sucking her cultivation alongside the blood, making her faint and sickly as her head spun.
Truly disgusting.
Tora watched Ningli skin her victim with ease as she continued to devour her. It didn't take long until she finished eating her side dish and moved on to her main one.
Chenxi was forced awake at the sudden pain dragging along his body. He had been stripped of his clothes, large nails playfully wiggling beneath his skin as they attempted to peel it off.
He tried screaming, even attempting to retaliate against the other but his body refused to move. His nerves and acupoints were pinched by Tora, they would remain unresponsive for another two hours, rendering him powerless against the being that was devouring him.
What is going on!? His eyes bulged, glaring at the ghoul that munched on him as it pleased. The other was drenched in blood from head to toe, eyes demonic as they stared him down.
"Are you curious?" Ningli whispered to the man. Her long tongue swiped across his tasty lips as she spoke. "I'm like this because of your curse. Aren't I very beautiful right now?"
Chenxi felt a shiver spread across his body as he glared at the other. The Demon Lord!?
"You can try to forcefully lift the restraints with your inner qi, but you will still die by me!" She noticed the swirling in his dantian, signifying his choice of forcefully breaking free from constraints.
Her sharp nails dug into his lower abdomen, fingers gripping the corrupted golden core, digging it out with ease as his muffled pains echoed in the night. Her other hand reached into his mouth, yanking out his tongue as she grinned.
"I have remained docile simply because I have yet to experience the wide world. Do not forget that I am still a Demon Lord. You pathetic fools think you can deal with me with your tricks, I will lay waste to the Demonic Cultivators. This is my promise to you in death!"
Wow…
I should learn villain monologues from now on.
'I told you that she's enchanting.'
Shut it.
The earth shook in response to her leap in Cultivation. The darkened sky was lit red with enormous thunderstorms and clouds forming above them. The atmosphere was eerie, like needles prickling the skin as she stood up from the battered bodies on the ground.
The ominous calling of the rise of the Demon Lord shook the Cultivating space. Everyone's hairs on their body stood as the earth welcomed its new Demon Lord officially.
I did not expect that.
The calling in her soul was so strong, she felt nauseated. The screaming of their righteous path was forcing her to eliminate the Demon Lord. It was the calling of the Heavens to combat the rise of the enemy.
SWOOSH!
From the corner came a white-haired hero. The famous sword of frost glimmered in the redness of the sky, aiming straight for the bloodied demon. Li Weisheng hadn't expected the Demon Lord to officially ascend this time around. His fingers around the sword tightened as they made contact with the other person.
It doesn't matter. The stronger the Demon Lord, the better my ascension would be as well.
Ningli's hardened skin deflected the sharp blade, leaving only a light scratch where it touched as she glided back a few steps. Her reddened gaze took in the youth as she summoned Taiyao from its slumber. The long green whip in its true form was greatly intimidating.
Li Weisheng's eyes narrowed, glaring at the whip in high alert as he tried to process what it was.
"That whip! Where did you get it!?" Through gritted teeth, he spat out words of interrogation. He would be blind if he didn't recognize the whip that had killed him countless times before, although the color was different, it was the same rank as his Shizun's.
There's more than one!? Where was it on her when I killed her before? Why didn't I see it!?
Tora grinned at his angered and dumbfounded expression. Out of the corner of her eyes was a figure that lingered behind a wall. The figure used some kind of item to hide their presence, escaping even that of Li Weisheng's watchful gaze and a Demon Lord's sense.
Is it an item?
If it weren't for her expecting its presence, it would have also gone undetected by Tora. The fluttering of her red hanfu flickered against the red sky. Her figure was unmistakable.
Jing Qinru really is behind this crap.
Sorry for the long break!
I was focusing on the RHC as of now because I wanted to see if I could challenge myself to a writing competition.
It has been tough because I miss writing my fight and abhorrent scenes T0T.
This is still my passion project! I will try to upload once every week if possible!
Thanks for waiting~
