Capítulo 21: Eagerness

I couldn't wait for another 50 days. Instead of taking the necessary precaution, I began writing a name. I picked up a pencil and wrote,

'Harold Smith.

Cause of Death: Car accident.

Details: After donating all his money to a suitable charity, he'll get hit by a truck. Seconds before he dies, he'll repeat the word killer 5 times.'

Harold Smith was a ruthless businessman. He didn't do anything wrong in life, yet I still wrote his name. After a while, he'd soon die of a heart attack. Obviously, I noted his name after checking his marital status. He wasn't married, which made me less conscious of who I was killing.

I flipped the notebook to the next page, and tore it out. I tore the page in such a manner, that no one could find out that I had done so, on quick observations. I then proceeded to write another name.

'Arata Watanabe.

Cause of Death: Accident.

I altered the cause of death to avoid suspicion. For two famous businessmen to die during the same hour was already rare enough.

For Arata, I mentioned his cause of death as an accident. I even mentioned that he would be killed by a truck. However, Arata could die through various ways. He could die while present in a car, he could die while walking on the road and he could possibly die due to a truck crashing into his house. Without a specific detail, how would the death note exhibit its magic? What action would the death note take? Was the death note biased in such a case to take a specific action?

Questions popped into my mind to no end. I shrugged my head. After 10 minutes, I erased Arata's name and began to write another.
