I took in the high-tech interior of Mount Justice as I walked up to Batman standing in the center of the cave.
"So this is the team's base of operations," I remarked, playing the part of someone seeing it for the first time.
Batman gave a curt nod. "Yes. I brought you here because the team could use someone with your...abilities." His eyes searched my face, still clearly suspicious about the nature of my powers.
"Happy to lend my skills where they're needed," I replied diplomatically.
Leading me further into the cave I was met with two people both with green skin. I knew them well Martian Manhunter and Miss Martian.
As Batman led me further into Mount Justice, we were greeted by two green-skinned individuals - the Martian Manhunter and Miss Martian.
"Greetings. I am J'onn J'onzz," said Martian Manhunter in a deep, calm voice. He studied me intently, likely scanning me telepathically. I kept my mental defenses up, not letting him glean anything substantial.
Miss Martian gave a friendly wave. She had red hair, light brown eyes, and freckles. She wore blue high heels boots, a white shirt with a red x on it, and a blue skirt and cape. "Hi! I'm M'gann, but you can call me Megan. It's nice to meet you!" Her cheerful demeanor contrasted with her uncle's more reserved presence.
I nodded politely to them both, taking off my mask I returned her greeting. "Eli. Pleased to meet you." I knew with telepaths involved, I'd have to take extra care shielding my thoughts and secrets.
"Eli that's a nice name." She said.
"Thanks my mother gave it to me."
"Let's introduce you to the rest of the team," Batman said leading us forward. Now it was time to meet the rest of The Team and The Justice League.
As Batman led me over to meet the rest of the team, I saw Aqualad, Kid Flash, Robin, and Superboy waiting nearby. As well as the Flash, Aquaman Wonder Woman, and Green Arrow. I took a moment to look at each of them seeing them in person was an opportunity I never thought I'd have.
"This is the Martian Manhunter's niece, Megan M'orzz codename Miss Martian. And this is Eli Adler codename..." He suddenly stopped and turned toward me.
"Hmm, a code name huh I honestly never thought of one I guess you can just call me Legend."
"Hi everyone!" she said a bit shyly as she approached. "I'm Miss Martian, but you can call me Megan. It's so nice to meet you all!"
The team regarded her curiously. Kid Flash immediately zipped over.
"Liking this gig more every minute," he said flirtatiously. "Welcome aboard! I'm Kid Flash, that's Robin, Aqualad. It's cool if you forget their names."
"I'm honored to be included," Miss Martian replied earnestly.
The sidekicks regarded me curiously. Aqualad stepped forward first and extended a hand. "Greetings, Legend." His polite demeanor made a good first impression.
Robin gave me a calculating look. "Nice to meetcha. I'm betting you've got some slick moves if Batman picked you." He seemed to be sizing me up.
I nodded to each of them in turn. "I can handle myself alright. Nice to meet you both. I look forward to working with you." I then looked over to Superboy noticing that he decided to hang back silently. It was then that Robin called him over.
"Hey, Superboy Come meet the new recruits." At Robin's call, Superboy reluctantly walked over to where I was standing with the others.
"I like your t-shirt," Miss Martian said turning her white shirt to black. Causing the stoic clone to smile
...
Slumping into the couch back in my living room I let out a sigh as Scathach, Katou, and Artoria materialized beside me. I watched as Katou ran off to the kitchen.
"So those were the heroes of this world that you told us about. I would be interested in fighting them." Scathach said taking a seat in the armchair to to my left.
"Yep," I confirmed. "As for fighting them, I'm not sure who would win I don't have enough concrete information on their power levels. but I'm sure you'd be able to take most of them in a one versus-one scenario."
Artoria perched eagerly on the couch armrest. "Oh, describing those heroes is one thing, but seeing them in person was so exciting! I can't wait to cross swords with the villains of this world too."
I chuckled at her enthusiasm. "I'm sure you'll get an opportunity in the near future."
Just then, Katou returned from the kitchen holding a tray of tea, which she handed out before taking a seat beside me.
"You know you don't have to do that right?" I asked with a raised eyebrow.
"But I want to is that not okay?" She said with a fake pout.
"You can do what you want," I said wondering where the emotionless ninja I summoned went.
"Have you decided on your next steps regarding the Team?" Scáthach asked.
I nodded, sipping the tea Katou made. Still unsure how she gets it to taste so good. "Soon we'll undertake missions together. We have about a week or so. So until then, it's business as usual. For now, I'd like to get some training in I haven't been able to do much these past couple days."
Scáthach gave a half smile when I mentioned training and got up and followed me to the basement.
