Capítulo 94: Chapter 95

Kara had finally decided to let go of the Batman persona completely.

She wasn't Batman, and she didn't embody his ideals either.

Joker was her last confession to Bruce.

"Don't look for me again, because even if you do, I won't help as Batman anymore. That's it," Kara said, standing up and taking one final puff from her cigarette before rising slowly into the air.

Now that her identity had been revealed, Kara didn't see the point in hiding anymore. She flew up in front of Bruce, Harvey, and the others. After a final glance at Bruce, she turned and took off.

For a time, she planned to bid farewell to the hero life, returning to her regular, day-to-day existence. She hoped there might even be some peace following Joker's defeat.

In a nearby alley, Kara found her motorcycle, transformed it back, and rode straight to Wayne Manor.

Alfred had already returned and was unaware of what had happened after Joker's capture. When Kara arrived, he asked, "Didn't you already catch the Joker?"

Kara, stashing her gear back in the Batcave, answered casually, "Things got complicated. I'll explain it all when Bruce gets back. I'll be taking leave for now. Oh, and can you hand me the keys to Bruce's garage?"

Alfred didn't question it. He opened Bruce's private garage, revealing rows of luxury vehicles—everything from Maseratis to Porsches, an array of supercars, and high-end motorcycles.

Kara chose one car at random, a sleek convertible, and leapt straight into it. While she could have opened the door, the convertible's open design made it easy to just hop in.

Bruce had an eccentricity about these things: every car was kept ready to go, keys in place.

Kara waved a quick goodbye to Alfred and drove off.

After a long ride back to Jennifer's house, Kara was surprised to find her friend waiting, eyes a little puffy from lack of sleep.

When Kara entered, Jennifer looked at her, clearly perplexed. "Do you have…superpowers?"

Kara froze, quickly realizing who might have told her. "I should have known the Waynes would be a bit nosy," she said with a smirk.

Bruce must have called Jennifer.

"Didn't you say you'd left all that behind? So why are you still in contact?" Kara asked, dodging the question.

Jennifer, who had known her for years, wasn't fooled. "Don't change the subject. What's going on? Show me."

Kara sighed. She had known that exposing her powers would come to this. She hesitated, but, looking into Jennifer's eager eyes, she felt compelled to give in, if only partially.

"That Joker sure did get the last laugh," she muttered to herself, feeling as if she'd lost.

She shrugged, summoning a small display of her powers. "It's mostly just telekinesis."

She gave a vague answer, not wanting to reveal everything—not even to Jennifer. She still didn't know when Bruce might question Jennifer and get every last detail out of her. And with Bruce, there was always a chance he'd prepare countermeasures, like kryptonite, if it ever came to that.

So, she showed Jennifer some basics, like how she could make objects levitate, bend spoons, and other such things with her mind.

Telekinesis was a broad power. It could mean anything from levitating objects, to teleporting, to even bending reality in some ways.

And Kara's telekinesis was real. She didn't use sleight of hand or hidden props like stage magicians. With a thought, she made all of Jennifer's spoons float and twist together in mid-air, twisting them into spirals.

Jennifer watched, stunned. "What else?"

Kara reluctantly continued, conjuring flames in her palms, each about half a meter tall.

This wasn't an innate superpower, but a form of magic, technically. Kara could summon flames with magic, which made it different from simply controlling fire. She wasn't bound to existing flames; she could create them.

It was an important distinction, as some with pyrokinesis could only manipulate flames, not generate them. An example would be Pyro, a mutant who could control flames but not create them. Unlike him, however, the Human Torch could do both.

She went on to showcase control over other elements—water, air, and earth.

At fifteen, she had been selected by the wizard Shazam, nearly becoming the next champion. However, Kara turned it down, as she preferred not to wield borrowed power, especially from deities with questionable strength. She knew that one day, she would have to face Darkseid and the New Gods of Apokolips. How could she expect to defeat them if she relied on lesser beings?

Would Bruce rely on a beggar for money? Even the richest beggar couldn't surpass Bruce's wealth.

Returning to her demonstration, Kara displayed each element: fire, water, wind, and earth. She even showed advanced variations. The flames, for example, turned blue as she intensified the temperature. The water transformed into ice, shaping itself into blades, spears, and more.

The wind, too, was versatile, even though it was invisible. The air was both omnipresent and invisible, and as an attack, it was incredibly useful.

Finally, she showed the earth element, conjuring dirt out of thin air, compressing it into stone, and then transforming it into a solid gold bar.

"You know," she said, holding up the gold brick, "I once told people I found a gold mine. And while that wasn't exactly a lie, it's much easier to make gold with magic than to dig it out of the ground."
