[3rd POV]
"Heroes do not value the lives of ordinary people, and all those smiles are nothing more than aimed at blinding viewers from the truth. The truth is that even heroes have their sins, and they were not born with a gift from God but literally grown by humans."
The T.V. presenter proclaimed.
"In these years, you can see how the globally well-known hero Homelander burned through a man protesting against Vought."
The video showed the moment when Homelander blasted a hole through the man's abdomen with laser beams.
Fortunately, behind him was a pole and not other people.
"But the most astonishing thing is that the man didn't die. He healed soon after! What else could it be if not the will of God? Or... has some superhero decided to go against their creators?"
This time, there were shots where the lying man was briefly covered in bright yellow light and then stood up, not understanding what was happening.
"Hughie, stop watching this crap. We have a mission to free the woman from that bastard capable of killing us all in a second."
M.M.'s voice "cheered up" Hughie.
"Yeah, I remember."
He glanced at the T.V., then turned his gaze to Annie or Starlight.
She learned what they were planning and asked to join them.
"Everything will be fine. Homelander is now busy with popularity problems and unlikely to fly to his son."
She murmured.
"Exactly, and God be with us."
Frenchie smiled.
"Yes, Mon coeur?"
He looked at Kimiko, who immediately nodded, touched her heart with her hand, and then showed a thumbs-up.
"But what's next?"
He said.
"I mean... we're helping Butcher now, but what's next? Someone has already exposed a lot of dirt on Vought, but the company still stands despite losing billions."
"Sometimes the beast doesn't die with the first arrow, Hughie."
Frenchie said.
"But with the information about Stormfront, we can strike Vought once again."
"Wait, Butcher did negotiate... oh, he lied, didn't he?"
Hughie realized this with a sigh.
"As soon as he ensures that Rebecca and the child are safe, he even contacts Mallory for that and includes her in his plans, sharing information that made the woman pull the strings. He covered his "back," and now it remains... that son of a bitch."
He saw Butcher's car with the woman and child inside.
"The flyer is still in the tower."
Frenchie said it with a smile.
At that moment, lightning flashed in the sky, and thunder roared.
"Do you think this weather... because of him?"
"It could well be."
M.M. shrugged.
"Another version is some super weapon that covered all of North America... I've also read a version about aliens."
"Who are you talking about?"
Annie heard something suspicious.
"Uh, it's nothing..."
Hughie lied very unconvincingly, causing her to narrow her eyes.
...
[Anthony's POV]
"The laws of the universe are exactly the same... The sun also gives me strength."
I spoke literally "floating" in the star.
The photons from the yellow star also worked on my kryptonian genes, obtained from Platinum Kryptonite.
I also tried to open a portal back to my world with my own powers, but it was just... like a child trying to lift a house-sized boulder.
A completely ordinary human child.
The same went for the other worlds I visited. I simply couldn't open a portal there because I was too weak or didn't have the right ability.
Clearly, I lack magic.
In the "Boys" parallel world, I managed to open a portal and even wander into a new world, and the timer kept ticking even then.
"Now I need to try to create a singularity..."
...
[3rd POV]
"Everything will be okay, Grace Mallory will help us."
Butcher said while driving the car with his wife and... child inside.
As much as he hated Supes, looking at the smiling child, he didn't see Homelander.
In the past, he might not have been against killing the little CIA bastard and taking Becky away, but after that "shake-up" orchestrated...
God.
Those thoughts opened his eyes, no matter how scowling he was.
His wife liked the child despite his opinions, but it was now very clear to him.
There was another car behind them with Frenchie, Hughie, and Starlight.
M.M. stayed in the same place to watch for the arrival of Homelander.
"I'm glad you found me."
Rebecca smiled.
"Mom, will I have friends in the new place?"
Ryan asked.
"Of course, sweetheart, you'll have lots of friends. There will be a normal school."
She turned to him with a smile.
"Yeah..."
William gripped the steering wheel slightly.
He didn't want to admit it to himself, but he liked this peaceful atmosphere.
...
Vought Tower
"This is insane! Totally nuts! "
Ashley shrieked as Homelander practically burned a hole through a man with his eyes right in front of everyone and then just flew away.
She was trying to come up with a plan to solve the problem...
Meanwhile, the culprit in the incident was seething with anger.
He remembers again when the crowd shouted at him while insulting him and telling him to go away.
He clenched his fists in rage and punched the wall, making a hole and startling a few people nearby.
"Did you see that herd? Give them even the slightest reason to turn on us... especially with all those damn outsiders around."
Stormfront commented.
"They see that you're better than them in every way, and that's why they try to humiliate you."
"I thought it was because of that shit that was posted online."
Homelander gritted his teeth.
"Nah, you think it's that simple? They fear your perfection. They're just uncomfortable with the fact that being like us exists. Just like Edgar... they restrict us. They consider us their assets, nothing more."
"This, damn it, is not right. I'm not an asset... They've always tried to control me, always! All my damn life! And I allowed it, but... where has it led me?!"
He heatedly exclaimed.
"I will take my child back, I won't let these bastards lay a finger on him."
He decided and flew out of the window... which was still closed.
He roared again with anger soon after and this time even laughed hysterically.
This is because there was a note in the house where his child used to live that said, "A little gift from your Butcher, you flying bitch."
"How... how sick of me they are..."
Homelander clenched his fists.
"Why don't they love their gods?! Why don't they worship me?! And now they dare to laugh... and take away what matters to me!"
Homelander's eyes glowed red, and a laser cut through the house like a knife through butter.
In an instant, the roof collapsed, and he flew out of the house and straight toward Vought Tower.
He flew to the "Seven" floor and saw Express in the hall.
"Oh, boss, I'm feeling better already. And I can run again..."
"I don't care, and you'll be out of the Seven soon."
Without even looking at him, Homelander headed for the large sliding doors and began to open.
"Wh-what?"
A-Train stammered in shock.
"We don't need invalids whose hearts could explode at any moment."
After these words, Homelander headed for the elevator.
"Oh, Homelander! We urgently need to apologize on camera..."
When the elevator doors opened, he was greeted by the irritating redhead, his handler.
"Apologize?"
He stopped and asked in a calm tone.
"W-well, yes... everyone saw how you nearly killed a civilian, and if it weren't for the help of some unknown supes, it could have ended much worse."
"Help from a supes?"
Homelander's gaze froze on her.
"Y-yes... his wound healed under a bright glow."
Ashley nodded.
"Here are the words prepared by me and the department..."
"I don't give a damn. Do these bitches really want apologies from ME? Who the hell are they to demand apologies from ME? I'm Homelander! Their hero and the hero of all America!"
He shouted and strode even faster towards Stan Edgar's office.
"Where is my son?"
He burst into the director's office while shouting so loudly that the door flew off.
"I think you should already know that, you don't seem to suffer from forgetfulness."
Stan calmly replied.
"Don't lie to me, Stan. Where. Is. My. Son. I know you're involved in this."
Homelander's eyes glowed with a crimson hue but Stan didn't even raise an eyebrow.
"He and his mother weren't in the house, but there was a note from Butcher."
"Hmm, give me a minute, and we'll find out their location."
Stan decided not to lie or avoid when sensing a particular danger from him.
Especially since he looked... nervous and enraged.
There was no sense in angering someone who usually couldn't be dealt with.
Butcher himself... was to blame.
...
The meeting with Grace Mallory and her people happened in one of the quiet neighborhoods of the city.
A group of black cars was waiting for Butcher, his wife, and their child, and they soon showed up.
Butcher himself was somewhat nervous, as MM had already informed him that Homelander had flown to their house and soon left.
"Here's Mallory."
He parked next to them, got out of the car, and opened the door for his wife and child.
The others also stopped behind them.
"Get out."
"I see you managed everything."
She spoke.
"As you can see."
He shrugged.
"Hide them from him..."
"It will be done. Your information about Sage Grove Center will be very useful, especially the information about Lamplighter... Thank you for that."
She nodded and waved her hand for the agents to immediately open the car door.
Rebecca got into the car with her son and looked at her husband.
"I'll join you soon, believe me... damn it."
They all heard the distinctive sound of flight, and Homelander landed nearby.
"Ha, I got your message."
He said this, looking at everyone present. But unlike his voice, his face did not show amusement.
"Butcher..."
Mallory hissed, her pulse suddenly rising.
"You abducted my child... lately, everything about me has been pissing me off. Stormfront was right, I'm better than all of you, and I should be the one deciding what to do with him. Ryan, go to your dad."
He smiled at the child in the car.
However, Ryan clung tighter to his mother when he saw his eyes turning red.
At the same time, the sky above this scene darkened even further, and lightning flashed across it.
"Ryan. Come to me."
He said it again in a cold tone, and he chuckled when noticing that he didn't move.
"Homelander, you'd better not get involved if you don't want the CIA..."
Mallory tried to speak, but the appearance of another hero next to her cut her off.
"What? What will your damn CIA do to me, which kidnaps children from their parents? I'll take care of all of you, starting with you."
He turned his head, and burning beams shot out of his eyes, hitting Butcher straight on.
However, thunder roared and lightning flashed from the sky at the same time.
"No!"
Rebecca's cry was barely audible over the thunder.
Kimiko and Frenchie had already retrieved the rocket launcher...
"Oh, damn, yes."
The voice of a Butcher who was still alive and unharmed by his body was surrounded by golden light crackling with lightning.
"What the..."
Homelander opened his eyes wide, and Butcher's fist met his face, sending him backward like a bullet through the wall.
"Thank you!"
Butcher shouted, looking upwards and thanking God from the bottom of his heart.
He could genuinely believe it was God right now.
"Your heart won't rest until you defeat him in battle."
Unexpectedly, a voice spoke, and a male figure appeared beside them while radiating light.
"Mother fuc..."
Mallory exclaimed, her eyes wide open in shock.
