Capítulo 75: Summer Days Part 8 End of the Summer. Back to school...

"Well after the signing anyway mostly."

"I am sorry but what did you just say?!" Nyssa was not liking the sound of this. "Like how much of our souls?"

"A fraction. The part that bound you to a certain "destiny" you could say. Well destines because of the "collapse" progress. So many version piled into one individual." Max moved his hands and rearranged everything. The large circle with the darkness floated between him and Nyssa. "This is what causes Tribulation so strongly for me."

"The heavens do not like cultivators who become to powerful without earning it." Orm said matter of factly. A lot of his studies focused on ways to deal with Tribulation. So far, not so easy. "Despite the past achievements. All of us.. or you, formed a contract with or a provisional contract with, have a new road ahead of them."

"That is right. And I fight during the time of tribulation to make sure it stays that way. I gain power from it, so nothing to feel bad about." Max said simply. Still not really understanding the big deal about it. But then again, enough on his mind made him a little disconnected about some things. "Not something you will miss. I assure you."

"Yeah, I bet." Nyssa grumbled. A few of the others thinking the same lines of trouble. It would be a while before they came to terms. "Haaa, need to study more about stuff like this."

"My library is open to you." Max pointed to a small staircase. "Leads to a pocket dimension that may help you with this. Voice recordings, past diaries from others."

"Thanks." Nyssa said curtly as she moved. Quite a few of them following her. 'Why didn't he mention this before? Then again, we never asked so there is that.'

The rest of the time went by fast. Max was awakened the next morning in a cold sweat. Someone was distorting the dimension. This time on earth itself. Not to far away from the park Raven arrived. A few calls to a few of the demons answered him back.

The person was marked friendly they said. That was only by someone in the Pantheon marking them so. Which beg the question who.

.

Stop before the Academy-

.

This was one last thing that needed to be taken care of. His eye pulsed immediately upon stepping out of a mirror. The scenario already started while Max slept. A very odd vistor.

Not just from the future, but from a part of the collapse area. The bright red-orange hair stood out the most. Her green eyes almost shining in a way against the black clothing.

It was Carrie Kelley, and something about her caused his Virtue to spin crazy for a moment. That arrival was safe and protected by just the right individual it seemed. A little power radiated off her that matched several signatures. Gaia's signature was there. As well as Hera. Max stood in front just waiting for her to say something.

'Why in the name of Tartarus did they bring her here?' Kicking the thoughts around in the old noggin brought up nothing really. 'Carrie Kelley has been screwed over a bit. The same as Stephaine Brown. But at least she had.. wait she did have the set up with... shit I can't remember!'

Atlas: the scenario has things jumbled. it would be best not to ptry. I do see that she is the adult version of herself. The one that took the mantle of Batwoman. So there is that at least.

"So... have you killed any heroes yet?" Carrie was just feeling for him. A small brush of magic touched against Max from here. This pulled Max out of his contemplation for a bit. "Please tell me you haven't started!" A bit of an outburst from her was the first real emotional response he felt.

"Not really. Still in.. school and not super active yet. So why are they protecting you?"

"Secret." Carrie said in a mumble. "Take it up with them if you have to." Seeing Max shrug not wanting to pry, she relaxed a little. "Glad you are not taking it out on me. Still, in school you say... hmmm."

*Flicker!* Carrie body decrease in height just a little. The magic that protected her changing the flesh and overall appearance next.

"That is more like it." Doing a little spin, she looked at Max who just blinked in response. "I am going to join you at school. Not like it was great when I originally went in my time."

"How long ago was that by the way?"

"Not telling." Carrie grinned playfully. "You will find out in time. Don't want to ruin the scenario do you?"

"I suppose." Max rubbed his temples a little annoyed. Something about this was off and currently not much could be found out. "I may have said school, but it is the academy. You are welcome to enroll there."

"Umm no. Hard pass. I will go to a public school." Carrie responded quickly. A quick flash of light passing in her eyes. Max actually missed it. "Gotham high will be just fine. Care to drop me off?"

"You are not a kid, and I am already late. So no." Max turned to leave. Only pausing to say one last thing. "Whatever they are planning.. try not to get to caught up in it." Just like that, Max slipped into a mirror.

"I am not here for them..." Carrie said in a whisper. ".. here to save you." A small breeze passed over the ally. A woman in white appeared. She was not alone. A woman that looked oddly like Carrie but had no relation to her stood behind. Commissioner Ellen Yindel. "Athena, and Commissioner how are you?"

"I am good. Just making sure everything goes ok." Ellen said grimly. "I rather get started on saving Gotham before it ends up like back home."

"You can, and will." Athena passed a contract over. At the bottom, a few paragraphs in red shined. "Do what must be done and do not get caught. You are hidden from his view now and that of others."

"Thanks." Ellen grabbed the contract and stepped away from the two. "Never thought I would work with these "types" of people." She still didn't like vigilantes. 'At least a version of me doesn't exist here. So fresh start. Shouldn't take long to rise up the ranks with these documents.'

Soon as she was away, Carrie got Athena's attention.

"Hope you know what you are doing. Goddess or not, mistakes have happened. That is why I am here aferall." Carrie was a little unhappy. "The best thing would be to put them away before they influence him."

"Easier to say child." Athena said amused. She could see the importance of the young woman. "Just do what you do best." A look to the sky alerted the goddess to something. "Excuse me as I try to talk sense into someone."

*Ping!* A burst she was gone. Carrie grumbled leaving the area behind. In her departure, she dropped a small little ball.

The ball transformed and burrowed underground. Slowly, burst of magic shot out. Unlike her Batman, she was not shy to using magic. Whatever helps save the day.

.

Gotham Academy-

.

Max walked up to the gym at the academy. The place was pretty packed already. Several cadets had returned early. The instructors not doing much to calm the youngsters down.

Corben was currently talking to Mr.Bones about something. It looked pretty intense the way others listened in from the squad.

"Max!" A female called not to far away. It was Vicki Vale. She maneuvered through the crowd to make it to him. "Looking good. Happy to be back?"

"Heh, yeah. Just need to finish up and move on with our lives." Max gave her a fist bump as a greeting back. "You kept in shape, that is good. PT will be a synch for you."

"You know it." Before the two could talk deeper and catch up, Summer Gleeson made it through the crowd towards them. "Oh boy, here we go." Vicki was not happy to see her at all.

"Wayne, Vale." She greeted them curtly. Face only softening a little at Max afterward. "My cousin Tanya.. please look out for her. She told me some things over the summer. That Elite squad of yours... is dangerous. Whatever is happening, just bring her back. Not much family left."

"I will do what I can." Max gave a small nod. Summer smile then disappeared into the crowd of cadets. "Hmmm, that was something." Turning to Vicki, he was surprised to see her so close to him. "Oi, back up! People are gonna start talking again at this rate."

"Let hem talk. You look so different. What did you do over the break?" Vicki eyed him over like a strange animal. Something about Max was odd. Really odd. "You start some new yoga or something?"

"Not.. really..." Max arched a brow at her. "..stop that! You, are actually freaking me out some!" A few other cadets started laughing at them. "Vale, knock it off!" She didn't however. She even poked the back of his neck. "Quit it!"

"You got a tattoo!" Vicki shouted. She couldn't help herself. As in, she really couldn't stop from blurting it out. "I didn't mean to say that!" Looking around, a few others students had been blurting out things by the looks of it.

"I do not have a tattoo." Max said simply. Running a trace over his skin, he felt the risen flesh a little. "What the hell!?" His spiritual sense went over it next. Following it all, Max felt the picture take root in his mind. 'When did this happen Atlas!?'

Atlas: I do not know. No record of any change taking place in my scans. A blackout period during the time you were having a nightmare again. I do believe Gaia can shed some light.

On the left side was the Sword of Salvation. Gripped by a burning green hand. The right side had the Sword of Sin gripped by a red hand. A tree in the center of his back. Various "fruits" all growing from it. The representation of the contracts.

Down by his waist area, was black. Representation of the Rot and more. Max did not like this at all. Getting a tattoo was one thing. But getting one against his will was another.

"Anger later, why the hell is everyone on the ground now?!" As far as Max could see, a good bit of students were on the ground wheezing. A smell caught his nose only briefly. "A gas?!"

*Bam!* The side of the gym blew open. Robots of various shapes and sizes walked through the rubble.

It was the Gas Gang. A group of robots that were based on and named for the gases Carbon Dioxide, Carbon Monoxide, Chloroform, Helium, and Oxygen. Why they were attacking the Academy, Max had know idea.

"Intercept them! Protect the cadets!" Commander Lang barked out. Several instructors were already on the move. Mr.Bones with "security" already moved to intercept. "Max! Help with evac!"

Still dazed, it was the right call. Max scooped up Vicki and another student. Carrying them like sacks, he kicked two more students onto his shoulders. Not really gently but something was wrong with his cultivation.

'Who the hell is suppressing me!?' Max dart out of the Gym with a few others. The moment they were in clear air, the cadets seemed to breathe better. Spotting Corben and Waller, Max coordinated with them to help speed things up. "So... an attack on the Academy by robits, crazy right?"

"Yes!" Waller answered. She was unnerved by the fact that Max seemed out of it. But she and Corben were unaffected due to their cultivation. A few others that trained as MAx instructed were doing better to. Even coming to help. "Worst first day back in history!"

"At least know one is dead." Corben said cheerfully. Max and Waller gave him a hard stare. "What?!" He asked incredulously. As if he jinxed everything, another explosion rang out.

*Kaaaabbbooommm!* Mr.Bones and security had the robots almost under control. But the robots did not come alone. A floating metal cylinder came over. A brain could be seen in the glassy dome. It actually looked a little cool. If not for the explosions and the kidnapping of course, A gorilla to the side with a type of scanner moved about. The gorilla had a gun belt for some reason. But no actual gun.

" Monsieur Mallah, have you detected the target yet?" The floating braincase said. Its voice slightly sinister. The gorilla shook no as it continued to scan. "We must hurry before the authorities arrive."

"A floating Brain... just wow." Corben said dumbfounded. Not stopping to gawk, the cadets kept moving others out of the gym. "Mr.Bones needs to hurry up."

"Tanya! Where are you?!" A voice yelled. Summer was looking for her cousin despite a very visible injury to the head. "Damn it! You better be fine!" Spotting her not to far away, she shot straight to her. "There you are!"

The moment she made it to her cousin, Monsieur Mallah pointed in her direction. One of them was a metahuman. Max had know knowledge of Summer actually being one. So that meant Tanya was one.

"I have a really bad feeling all of a sudden." Max passed a cadet to Waller. Grabbing some rubble, he spun and threw it at Monsieur Mallah. "Want a banana you damn dirty ape!?"

*Whack!* The debris hit a good spot. The scanner went flying to the side and shattered. Monsieur Mallah turned to Max in fury. But the Brain instructed to get the girls.

"Not happening so easy!" Max turned and snatched SUmmer and Tanya up. The Brain and Monsieur Mallah right on his tail. 'Well.. this will just be a delightful thing to explain!'

Atlas: Academy Scenario continuing. Max... if you lose these two, something bad will happen.

'Well that's just Prime!' Max looked over his shoulders. Monsieur Mallah was gaining a little. But only by as much as Max allowed him to. 'I am so gonna kill them both! I just wanted a simple day back.' Then something popped in his head. 'Where the hell is General Sara?! See if you can find that bastard Ares!'

"Hand over the metahuman boy." The Brain said.

"Oi, I take offense to that you tin can!" Max snapped back. "How about you and the overgrown monkey go play hide the banana somewhere else?" Making fun of the relationship the two had was not smart, but it brought a smile to Max's face nonetheless. "Is that why you don't have a body? To much hardcore sex and bam! He literally split you?"

"You insolent child!" The Brain's case lit up in anger.

"Wayne.. why are you angering the floating head?" Summer asked on his shoulder. "He just gave her a shrug, which made her bounce a little. "How the hell are you running so fast with both of us?"

"I eat my..." Max took a sharp turn heading to the track and field area. "..foods. Yeah my foods. And a lot of training and other stuff."

"Ugghh.." Tanya grumbled a little. She was still out cold so that helped a little. Max ran his spiritual sense over her quickly. "...mm.." She was definitely the metahuman and not Summer. But why did it show a trace now?

"So.. care to tell me everything that happened over the break Summer?" Max was hoping it was something small. The way she shivered however it was not. "Please at least say she met someone or bought something nice."

"No. Something really bad happened." Summer managed to squeak out. She noticed Max had kicked speed clearing the track field with ease. Even creating a gap between himself and their pursuers. 'He is not even sweating! Is he like Summer?'

The track and field club lead to a small forest. Which would be the perfect place to deal with the Brain and Monsieur Mallah. As long as nothing else was there of course.
