Capítulo 44: Max's true colors Part 3 Xanadu sister-in-law or.. sacrifice

Close to the end of summer. The fallout from the party was about as expected. The Falcone tried to get back at Max by attacking one of his businesses. One of the businesses that were a front really. For demons, mages, aliens, and other creatures that were stowed away on Earth.

An antique shop that was set up for acquiring things. One book, in particular, made its way there. But that was for later.

The bomb they threw into the building did not go off however. Instead, the retired military personal came out and ended them. Quickly. The bodies delivered back to the mobsters with a very powerful warning. The bomb inside in one of the corpses killing and putting some in the hospital.

The gang war turned into a cold war. As the police found quite a lot of evidence as well as the bomb squad, and firemen that made it there. A few bodies from other locations were there as well. People killed by different gangs. A messy frame up to keep the nosey people occupied.

Max was currently in his den in Vermont, dealing with a guest. Not a good one anyway considering the problems she came with. Brought by John Constantine, Zatanna Zatara, and Morgan Le Fey.

"Madame Xanadu it is just that simple. Become one of mine and I will give all that you once had. You will have two forms of immortality then. What say you?" Max was forcing himself to be cordial. The semblance between her and her sister Morgan were closer than the other sister. The Lady of the Lake. Both at least had the same hair and somewhat facial features. 'I really do not like this one. Why does she give me such a headache?'

"Tch, I cant see your future still! Madame Xanadu said flipping the cards ignoring Max completely.

"Sister.. enough." Morgan said wallking over to her little sister. She tried to grab at the cards but remembered the taboo of it and moved back. She grabbed her sister's hand and held it. Madame Xanadu's other hand went to grab another card. "Will you leave it be!?"

"There shouldn't be another card here!" Scared she picked it up. When flipping it over, it was black and golden. "How.. I already drew this!" Shocked she let the card drop and it shattered as if made of crystal. The little particles of magic light entered her opening the borders of her magic and pulling against the spell Merlin placed on her long ago. "My powers.. they are returning a little."

"You altered her already?" Morgan said turning to look at Max. "Why?"

"You are already providing me what I wanted Morgan. Helping yous sister right now is what you wanted." Max smiled standing up. Walking over he grabbed Morgan by the chin under her mask. He leaned in and whispered. "It feels good to do something nice for your sister doesn't it?" Morgan nodded gently. "Don't worry, we will still do a lot of bad stuff. This is just for your soul to grow a little."

He planted a small kiss on her. The mask made her feel better still. Which was more than she willing to let others know.

"I understand. I can feel the increase in my own strength already." Morgan gripped her hands tightly. The arcane energy swirling powerfully. "I like this. I wish I could have had this feeling towards my son." She looked towards her still shocked sister. Max pulled her face back.

"This mask is still quite something. But I want whats under the mask." Max gave it a tug and planted a kiss on the exposed skin. He felt her shudder under his touch. "So sensitive.. a long time since you felt bare touched from another that was real." It was not a question just an admission he knew.

*Crackle!* Her skin withered. More on her mental thought than anything doing so.

"You do not want this old crone!" Trying to pull back and away, she realized she couldnt. Max had his other hand wrapped around her waist. "Let me go!" He did just that. "Oof. You shouldn't treat a lay like that."

"I am vastly older than you." Max reminded her. "You told me to let you go so I did. Even killers have their rules. Besides.. you should know by now how I am." Turning around, he moved to a mirror to leave. "Oh, you young old crone I do want you. Here is a little taste of what I want from you emotionally." Tossing a spiritual ball over, he walked into the mirror.

"Ugh.. yeah. " Standing up straight she reached for it. Grabbing it she held onto its warmth and devoured it for her needs. Not even taking the feeling in. "You should know me by now Maxmillion.." she whispered. "I want the real thing from you, not magical projections." She smiled under her mask.

*Shine!* A bit of light went around her body. Golden in nature that showed her where her son Modred was last. And where Max believed he was heading to. It was up to her to decide what to do with it.

"Sister.. you like that monster." Madame Xanadu walked over on unsteady legs. "He is a monster dear sister. A demon.. a devil something far outside of this universe can contain. Something that.."

"How did you find that out?" Morgan's eyes lit up slightly.

"The tarot cards of course. It had a little of his power." She referred to the one that shattered. A small glimpse was given to her. But nothing that revealed what Max planned. "A small amount of that just entered you. Some of it is in you still in a way. Working as a catalyst for you to change as you want. There is nothing hidden in it that you dont know. Who would do such a thing?"

"A foolish man that is who."

Out appeared an old man. Beard reaching all the way to the floor. His old robes look as if they would disintegrate at any time.

Madame Xanadu had her hand held up. Ready to use a little of her returned magic to try and kill her ex-lover. Morgan grabbed her hand getting her to calm down.

"Hello, lover." Merlin said with a grin. "I am not really here. As your sister knows. Just a wisp of my soul for when your curse has been broken. What will you do now? This is for my piece of mind is all." His grin grew broader. 'That man is aware I am here, but does nothing to prevent me. How odd. Does that mean he trusts me, or is it something else?'

"Right, what I do is not your concern." Madame Xanadu looked away pouting.

"My sister will do what he wants. To think you influenced both of our lives so much Merlin." Looking to her sister she wanted to spend more time with her but decided against it. Morgan understood her sister's distate for the man. Unlike the Lady of the Lake as she calls herself and others do. 'He is a right bastard, but so charming at times. Such good parties.'

"You are staring Morgan." Merlin teased.

"I am not. Musing over something." Morgan responded flatly. She could already feel herself wanting to destroy this piece of Merlin. But she felt a piece of magic from the Lady of the Lake on him as protection against her specifically. No reason confronting her sister just yet. Not until she was stronger. "I will leave you two alone. Think of his offer sister. This is my gift to you as well as my own happiness. Oh, your son. We know where he is exactly. Max is keeping his eye on him and changing his destiny a little."

"Why?!" Madame Xanadu asked shocked.

"Easy. He will kill him if he continues on that future path." Waving her hand, a mirror of magic appeared showing the life of Xanadu's son. John Dee Doctor Destiny. "How he ascends to such gold like power, I have know idea."

His high school life. Nothing extraordinary. College life a little bit of recognition till he met a woman that controlled him into becoming a mild manner man and ate away at his self-confidence. Middle-aged life something snapped after his wife smacked him one to many times. He plotted and took his chance at Star Labs. Turning into a supervillain that tampered with dreams and reality.

"Our son was powerful." Madame Xanadu said offhandley. A sense of bride blossoming in her chest. 'Sound like he was more powerful than any other in our family.'

"Hmm, so you did get pregnant and hid him away. Yet you yourself didnt raise him at all. Giving him a life in the modern era." Merlin said stepping forward. He grabbed Madame Xanadu's hand. A littlse spell that used up what was inside him. "Glad you did so. You were ill-fit to raise him. Just as lovely as always lover. I can still remember back then."

"Let go you cheating old fool." Madame Xanadu tried to free herself but Merlin held on tightly. "Go seek comfort from my sister you loved so dearly."

"What!? I never laid with that bastard of a man."

"Not you. That hypocrite Vivienne!" Seeing her sister become quiet Madame Xanadu was suprised she didnt know. "You didnt know. Ha! Of course not. You were always so into your schemes to take Camelot and Arthur's realm. You wouldn't pay attention to what happened to me at all."

"I stood out of your life and away from my plots. Did you want to get involved?" Morgan said matter of fact. Seeing her sister look down she laughed. "Heh, that is what I thought. Unlike our other sister, I cared enough not to involve you in my plans. I left you alone back then. But I am here now trying to at least build a life with you. At a price of course. It helps me in various ways."

"You care about your power more than anything else." Madame Xanadu said to her.

"I do. Just in a different way this time. There are so many powerful creatures in this universe. As well as in the side dimensions. Max will kill them if they encroached on Earth. The same as he will kill the people on Earth who get in his way. It will take a long time before Earth has the strength to contend against everything else. The magics we have are not up to par with the greater threats out there. I dont have to remind you of that." Opening a portal she left. Her voice echoed in the room. "Merlin, if you harm my sister again I will take everything you love and hold dear and destory it. Max will glady help me do it."

"You should leave." Madame Xanadu said to Merlin. She ripped her hand free and noticed the ring that was now on her hand. "What is this?"

"A gift from me and your sister. It was always meant to be yours. It belonged to your mother." Merlin said staring at the ring and her. "There are secrets inside that you must unlock with time. As long as you behave yourself they will." He then faded away. But unknown to both him and the Lady of the lake his memory and everything that part of his soul knew was copied when he touched Madame Xanadu.

Back at their home, Max was sitting in the den watching everything through a portal. Behind him, Morgan just arrived. She stared at the portal as Max rewind it for her to view it all.

"You should hide more from me." Morgan said staring at him once it finished. "I might become evil again and take the power for myself."

"Go for it. You will die in the process. That simple." Max said as he stood up and stretched. Flexing a little, his magic jumped to the next tier.

*Crrrkkk!* Space warped under the power. The door opened and the others walked in. turning around, he reached over offering them all a piece of the power. Just a small sample to help with their cultivation in magic.

"Thanks.. Max." Selina said smiling sadly. She just tucked it away and didnt use it. "I will save it for something else. I am already at the point of breaking to the next realm already." She would give it to her sister most likely.

"Tch, of course you are." Claire said smacking her teeth. "Always ahead. It is only because you joined so early." Her rivalry still running hot along with her powers. Selina just grinned.

"Enough already." Mala said pushing the two away from each other. "I really would love to see you two go at it right now, but I want some answers to other things." She looked towards Morgan and Max. "Have you two screwed yet?" They shook no. Max started laughing a little. "Good." With an audible smack of her hands, she stared at Max.

*Woosh!* She tacked him.

"That means you still have your vital drop intact. I want it!" Mala said a little two loudly. "Come on, nothing wrong with breeding a friend the old fashioned way! Morgan already said it is fine!"

"I like Mala, so why not." Morgan had already secured her help in getting her son back. Mala already had enough spiritual power and magical defenses to make her a serious threat. 'A small lose. And not infidelity since I know about it. I wonder if I can get more deals by pimping him out? Gaia did say it would be worthwhile if I do.'

"Haha, you dont want that. Trust me." Max said flipping her around and pinning her. In the air. Surprising everyone with his flight abilities. "Easy Mala." His grip tightened causing her wrist to crack a little. "I have to relearn control. I dont want to fuck you into a coma."

"MMhh that sounds great." Mala hummed in pleasure. The more her arms hurt the hotter she became. Her heat vision already lighting up. "Volcana, here is a little something for you!" Looking over to the teen she watched as she got her guard ready. "Raaagghhh!" The heat rays fired at her and Volcana took it all in.

*Fwwwooossshhh!* The intense flames made the others back away. Claire was excited every time Mala helped her. And the Blackfire would be another with her energy beams.

"Ugghhh, so powerful. Way more than before... almost to much!" Claire started to sweat, which was always a sigh she was taking in to much. "Can't contain it all.. damn it. Me and my big mouth."

"You can do it Claire." Selina said her voice coming out smooth and comforting. "Trust in yourself more." Selina's eyes glowed goldenly. A warm sensation washing over the room. Like a fresh Sunday morning.

"You defintely can." Her mother Maria said. She joined her daughter Selina in helping the girl contain the power. "No way this is enough to stop you." As the temperature in the room died down, she gave a look to Max. Watching as he never looked away from Claire. 'Cold when he needs to be and caring when he needs to be. Definitely a monster.'
