Capítulo 53: Academy Part 2

"Break it up." General Sera said. Another person Max had no idea of. She was a very stern looking woman that reeked of blood. Cain was on guard against her, as well as Max. Even though she was a General, that level of blood is that of a butcher or men and women. "This is an academy of learning. Not your own personal backyard."

"Understood mam." Commander Cain popped to. "Cadets, Commander Lane will escort you back. I need to speak with General Sera. Double time it."

Commander Lane looked over. General Sera nodded her head agreeing. They left the two alone. Not wanting to be nearby anymore really made the cadets speed up.

"How goes the progress?" General Sera leaned into Cain. Eyes glowing red a little. "How many good cadets?"

"All of them." Cain responded as neutrally as possible. "Corben, Lawton, and Wayne are the top. A few years, and they will be the best out there. Right now, emotions are still running hot. Which is expected for teens. Corben and Lawton more than Wayne."

A dark silence passed over the area. General Sera was happy. But it did not show on her face at all. A small birds nest had two birds in it. A pair of robins. In an instant, one started tearing into the other. Fighting for dominance.

"And Wayne, how good is the pushing going? I noticed you push him extra hard earlier." Sera moved around him towards the ground where Max left his sweat. Eyes scanning the droplets closely. 'Hmm, he is still mortal. This will be more fun than I thought.' The smile on her face was wide and feral.

"Meets all expectations. Feels like he is restraining himself in a way. Never really tired." Cain felt his skin crawl. As well as an old wound throb. 'It still hurts. Damn, that assassin.'

"Keep up the work." General Sera stood up and brushed Cain's shoulder. "Try not to disappoint me. I spent a lot to bring you here." She walked away. In the tree, a robin fell out. Guts hanging out. The other in the tree looking bigger and stronger than before.

Cain stood there for a moment. Body cold but hot where she touched him. Underneath his clothes, red energy passed around his body. Healing the damage to his body. He was back to hid peak but a strong aggression needed to be suppressed.

.

Back With the Squad-

.

Lt.Puckett had them line up on the toe line. The females were there as well. The Squad Leaders and co-leaders were in the Fishbowl talking to Commander Lang and Lt.Olsen. An inspector came around checking things.

"Inspector Jordan, found anything out of spec?" Lt.Puckett voice was smug. Asking specifically when the visiting Inspector made it to Max's rack. He was disappointed when the man shook no. 'I know I put it there. Who moved it and when?'

"You run a tight ship." Inspector Jordan kept moving down the row checking. Not finding a single problem. Even the corners were better than the Airforce base he usually checked. 'Should have sent that pain in the ass nephew here. Better than the one back home.'

The walk around continued. Lt.Puckett moved over checking Max's wrack like madman. Commander Cain returned. Looking more energized than ever. Entering the Fishbowl, he talked with the others excusing the cadet leaders to join the squads.

Inspector Jordan left a report behind. It was informal really just a hint or two about some improvements. Mostly on a little grim in the Laundry room. A really little amount.

Commander Cain came out with Commander Lang following behind. Getting in the center both looked at Max then to Vicki Vale. The respective best fighters in the squads.

"Cadet Wayne, Cadet Vale, front and center." Commander Lang said cooly. What the two were up to was slightly odd.

The moment Max and Vicki stood front and center, a female smiled. Tanya Gleeson. Relative of Summer Gleeson. A reporter for the Gotham Gazette in the future as well as someone who is involved in Metropolis a bit.

"A cadet came forward saying you to were spotted talking intimately." Commander Cain said. Both the accused stood perfectly still. "Now, this is not allowed and you two know this. Anything to say for yourselves?"

"It is crap." Max said simply. "One I am sure I am not her type, two I have someone already."

"I want to know who gave this allegation?" Vicki asked. She eyed her squadmates and was quite sick of the constant backstabbing over the years. But the place would help pay for college and got her out of trouble. 'Still paying for taking that stupid joyride.'

"The cadet will remain unnamed. Just needed to hear it from you two." Commander Lang said. She didn't believe it but it needs to be said. Usually, it would stay amongst the instructors while they asked questions but Cain wanted to do it in front of both squads. Trying to build unrest as well as cooperation in weird ways. "A full inquiry will continue, do not worry."

"If you are innocent, nothing to worry about." Lt.Puckett said smugly. Not getting Max in trouble irked him a good bit. "Cadets have been known to screw up every now and then when hormones are high."

"Tch!" Vicki's fist balled up tight. Hearing from the sleazeball was enough to make her almost lose it. But Lt.Olsen came to her aid. She mouthed a few words that reminded her about what was important. 'Just a few more hours.'

"And a few "handsy" instructors have been known to get a little to touchy." Max said coldly. "Gotham does not take to kindly to folks like that anymore. They tend to end up.. incarcerated. Or.. worse. Missing in a way."

The room turned a little quiet at that.

"Are you threatening him Cadet Wayne?" Commander Lang asked.

"No." Max shrugged just to piss them off. Tone turning even more flippant. "Children threaten. Others just do. Wouldn't be the first time I had to do so. Nothing a legal team wouldn't be able to take care of, right Lt.Puckett? They do such great work digging up stuff Jag lawyers miss on overseas cases."

"Overseas cases.." Commander Lang mumbled. An incident coming to her mind about something swept under the rug that pertained to Lt.Puckett. But if Max knew something about it, it may explain why his attitude was so rotten about certain issues. 'I need to call that niece of mine.'

"That will be all cadets." Commander Cain said briskly. A rich person that was not afraid to use legal for themselves was quite troublesome. "Wayne, bright and early you are getting that match. Make sure you eat a good meal."

The Instructors went back into the Fishbowl. Vicki and Max just gave one another a glance. Moving away from each other right after.

Vicki sat with afew females she trusted. She would find out which one passed the rumor and would deal with them.

Max sat down closing his eyes. With the females currently in the compartment, the males could not relax in their racks. Not with out causing a few issues from breach of rules.

"What the hell is this?" Corben mumbled. He found a few smokes and a lighter in his rack. A few eyed him wanting to keep the smoke later. But if they were caught, it would end badly. Walking to the Head, it was flushed down the toilet. Best course of action considering. 'I really should have kept just one though. Definitely needed it.'

Lawton looked on edge up until Corben returned. He was sick of getting crap from either him or Max refusing to bend. It was getting to a turning point that a few of the males decided would end tonight.

Max did not have Watch tonight. Which never mattered to him. Standing guard was an easy task and the opposite female across the hall usually mouthed all kinds of things to him. Which was quite a few of them. Happy that someone knew sign language as well.

Later that night, a few males rounded up and surrounded Max's wrack. They waited till after the Night Watchmen signaled them. The Rover, his partner woke those who were participating up. The Instructor that made the rounds was happy to move up to the next floor. The ground floor never had problems.

"Ah.. no more cornbread mom. I am.. full." Corben mumbled in his sleep. He flat out refused to get involved. Exhausted from everything was enough to make sure he always went to sleep as soon as possible. "Sheep skin.. sheep covers.."

"Wake him up." Floyd said. He was tense and was sweating. As well as a few other of the cadets. 'Why am I nervous all of a sudden?' As the blanket was moved, they received a shock.

"What the hell!?" A cadet cried out a little to loudly. Waking several others up. In the bed was a set of pillows. Max was not there at all. "Where is he?"

"Hey guys?" Max said smiling coldly. He snuck off to the Head earlier. Which was easy to do with most of them having went to sleep the moment their heads touch the pillows. "Don't you think it would be best to be asleep?"

"Dammit Wayne!" Lawton turned on Max quickly. Standing between the racks, he could see a lot of the males were waking up fully. 'Great, just great. Might as well just go with it.' He signaled one of the other cadets.

The cadet nodded. Looking at the more susceptible cadets.

"We caught Wayne trying to sneak out." The cadet said convincingly. "Think he was heading to mess with the females across the peeway."

"Pft, yeah right." Corben said. He didn't believe it for a moment. "Get back to bed before we all get in trouble. And I mean now!" His voice was a strong command. The cadets followed it mostly. But not the close Lawton followers.

Corben flipped back over to go to sleep. He figured the message got across.

*Bam!* Max delivered a punch to the nearest cadet. Then sent a flicker jab at the next. Dropping both of them instantly. The other two shocked cadets recovered enough to strike back, but missed. Each hitting the rack almost breaking their hands.

"Fuck!" The cadet cursed loudly. He looked to Lawton who threw a pencil with deadly accuracy at Wayne. 'Holyshit!' Max raised his hand letting the pencil hit his wrist. Only the very tip got stuck.

*Bam! Bam!* Two more gut punches and the others dropped leaving Lawton.

'Shit!' Lawton dashed forward. Ready to slug it out with Max. But that was not to be. Max disappeared by shifting quickly. 'How the hell did he vanish?!'

A regular person would have trouble in the lowlight. But Lawton's eyes were already at a dangerous level. Despite his young age. He blocked a strike from max to his front. The another.

"Grr!" Lawton took a few steps back from the blow of the strikes. Sometimes, it was better to not block. 'Felt like two bowling balls hit me!' Trying to move a little out of the way, his instincts warned him not to.

*Fwip!* Max sent another flicker jab out. Clocking Lawton in the center of his head. The disruption to his mind made his guard drop a little. Another flicker jab smacked Lawton's temple making him slump to the ground.

"Ughh!" Lawton grumbled. It as the first time he felt a loss. To use to coming out on top was the downfall of many. His fingers barely moved. His brain and motor skills a mess. "What.. did.. you do to.. me?"

Max leaned down and whispered in his ear. His hands on Lawton's throat and left arm that struggled more than the rest of his body. Reaching for another pen know doubt.

"I disrupted your neural network. Trying to decide if I should fuck you up enough that you die in a few days, or just inflict some pain to keep you from messing with me again. Really, I can go either way." Max was enjoying himself a little to much. Slightly disappointed he didn't strike when they first lifted the blanket. Quite a few punching bags instead of just five left. "But you have such a grudge against me, it is almost funny. But this is what we are going to do Lawton. For the rest of my time here, you fall in line. And I make it worth your while."

"Fuck.. fuck you.." Lawton retorted back. Good old teenage defiance at its finance. A squeeze on his throat with Max pushing his thumb just right cut off a bit of the oxygen flow. "You.."

"I can do just enough to cause you brain damage yah know. Get away with it to." Max said softly. He was aware of Corben having sat up and watched everything. But he made no moves against Max. Just watching intently. "You received a really bum deal in life. A chance for something better.. If you listen to me that is. No more alpha bullshit. I am top dog. Understand?"

"Ahhh!" Lawton took a deep breath when Max moved his hand away. He could move once more and captilized on it. "Understand this!" Full of adrenaline, he stabbed a pen towards Max with everything he had.

*Split!* The pen was blocked. Piercing a little of Max's flesh. Two fingers stopped the pen from getting to far.

"Holyshit..." Corben said simply.

"I am trained Lawton. Way more than you will get here. Rich people have to protect themselves. never know when some shit group will try to abduct me. or blow up my home again." Max was not to forgiving of course. "Have a good night."

*Bam!* Max hit Lawton in the jaw square on. The last thing Lawton saw was Max smiling at him sinisterly.

"Shit man." Corben hopped out his wrack to make sure Lawton didn't die. A quick check showed the teen was ok. "Any way you can train me like that?" His look was completely serious. Catching Max off guard. "Commander Cain is in for in the fight isn't he?"

"Yes to both questions." Max smiled. He dragged the knocked cadets to their racks. He knew each person sleeping area and habits. One must be cautious with all enemies at all times. Even young ones. "Oh they are going to feel this in the morning and when they shit."

"How bad?" Corben had followed Max. Grabbing the heads of the cadets as they moved. He couldn't just let Max drag them like he did. "Not worried about someone speaking out?"

"It will hurt on a full stomach and when they take a crap. For a week." Max took a guess at it. He didn't really care if they never healed right actually. Overkill was the best kind of kill afterall. "They speak out, then I will show them real hazing."

Lawton was the easiest to put away. Since he went down not to far from his rack. Corbin couldn't help but ask Max questions nonstop. A few other cadets woke up listening as well.

So Max just told them some healthy things to help them. As well as a small cultivation technique that helped the mind refresh faster. Removing hostile thoughts promoting a calm mind under pressure.

"Max, during the break..." Corben was supringsly shy in a way. max was learning all kinds of shit about the character. ".. mind if I hang out with you? No really at my home anyway. Provided we don't lose the week off."

"Sure." Max answered simply. The two spoke a little more before turning to go to sleep. 'Well, at least it will be a little easier in the future now. Maybe. I might have to break a few of Lawton's bones and a few others.'

'I recommend against that.' Atlas thought to him. The A.I. observed everything critically. 'A small chance to recruit him remains. Focus on taking Cain down a few pegs later.'

'Fine. But how the hell did he gain so much strength from the time we left him, up until he came back.' Max felt the increase in the power and couldn't quite put his finger on where though. 'I swear it can not be that brat Ares. Close to like him in a way.'

'No changes in the Olympus scenario. I recommend siding on caution. A small note must be made thought Max.' Atlas' tone was gravely serious. 'Something besides what Gaia said is on its way to Earth. A lot faster than the other object. It is both small and large in a way. A very angry thing that is drawn to you.'

'Well that is just great.' Max clear his mind and went to sleep on that note.

.

Waiting Area-

.

Gaia and a few other Cosmic creatures were talking. The conversation was pleasant enough but they were all sick of seeing each other already. As she moved away like the others, she entered a room.

The room was covered in massive vegetation and all sorts of different jewels. Gaia stopped to look at a very large urn. It was close to overflowing. All around the side was various directions of a person. All of them were of Max. Each life he lived and rembered and ones he did not.

"Ah Gaia!" A little mouse ran up to her. The mouse name was Barnabus. A young god of her Pantheon. He went from cheer to distressed looking at her face. "What is the matter."

Gaia lifted the mouse up and placed him on her shoulder. Her other hand swirling in the urn. A multitude of energies swirling inside. Getting closer and closer to one thing. The same energy that gave birth to her.

"It is my Champion Maxmillion." Gaia lamented. "I.. had to stop him twice while in his current life. It is getting harder to do so each time. But he is not destined to be a God. He is destined for.."

"He is to be a Titan!" Barnabus said excitied. The idea of another within their Pantheon was a great boon. "And he is compatible with you. So why not change him over?"

"I do not want him to end up like.. him.." Gaia stopped swirling the energies. Already it turned towards the path of a Titan. A bright red streak appeared as well from know where. "He is calling Cosmic energy naturally now."

"But he can survive it. And if you tell him to, he will seal it up." Barnabus whiskers twitched. "Oh, his brother was sent on his way. Only a small mishap."

"Haaa.." Gaia sighed at the choice she had to make. "First my grandchildren are acting up causing problems for my champion and now this. I will ask him and see what he says. The choice must be his."
