Romulus felt Herald’s voice creeping under his skin. His mind told him that he was in immense danger right now. And there was nothing he could do to stall the vampire until the incompetent meat shields broke in. The only option left was to fight the vampire head-on.

However, before he could even prepare himself, he saw a set of sharp claws swinging right at him.

Herald had slashed his claws against Romulus’ neck without showing any mercy.

Romulus widened his eyes in utter shock when he felt warm liquid flowing down his neck. He held his breath and quickly grabbed his neck in order to stop the bleeding until his healing kicked in.

But before the wounds on his neck could heal on their own, Romulus felt such excruciating pain in his neck that he thought his head would fall off of his neck.
