" Nice work guys! Our shoot ends here, I'll wrap up the rest of your pictures and handle them later on. I'll see you guys tomorrow! ", I said to my group of models after snapping their last shot.
I glanced at my watch which showed 11p.m. I started to pack up my equipment and was ready to clock out. Before leaving, I stopped by another studio that was a few rooms away from mine. I knocked on the door and walked in.
Inside, a young women with dirty blond hair had also just finished her shoot with her group of models. I walked over to her and laid my head on her shoulders.
" Oh boy, well, I'm definitely making sure that I don't end up doing the last groups photoshoot EVER AGAIN. They're really nice to one another but they take ages just for one photo T-T", I whined while telling it to my best friend, Emily Pier.
She soon chuckled while patting my head as comfort, " LOL, it's alright! I've experienced worst than this, at least your group has clothes on, mine can't even find the right underwear to wear!".
The fact that Emily knew about her group not being able to find underwear of their own gave me chills down my spine! Not to mention her group is mixed with both genders.
" You're joking right? Don't tell me you've been spying on your group? ", I asked with a stern tone.
Emily laughed hard, " Of course I'm joking HAHA! But yeah, those brats really take long to dress. I heard two of my group members have a thing for one another! "
" Shut up! No way! Don't tell me it's Liam and Bree? ", I asked in a surprised tone.
" YOU KNEW?! ", Emily replied in shocked.
" I'm more up to date than you sweetie. Keep it up. ", I replied while showing her a smirk.
Emily then brought up about the groups she had dealt with throughout the day, from summer themes to spooky haunted themes. The only problem was, her group was somewhat like troublemakers. Always wanting to make Emily's blood boil with fury.
I continued with my arms crossed,
" Alright alright, but please, we both know my groups has the upper hand when it comes to being insanely terrible. ".
Emily swung her head from left to right in disagreement as she was packing up her equipment.
" No way! Opposite! Your groups may be terrible but at least they know how to help out! Mine doesn't! You always get the golden groups which is so not fair! ".
I replied in frustration, " LIES! ".
We then started having a slight quarrel over whose group was worse than the other.. that probably lasted for about 30 minutes?
But we got over it quickly as we were making our way towards the exit of our workplace.
Since we both felt exhausted and it had just hit midnight, we wanted to stop by our favourite hangout spot, " The Lively Cafe ".
If you are wondering why and how this place became our hangout spot, it's because that's the place where Emily and I had first met.
About six years ago? If my memory isn't wrong.
But, it was quite interesting meeting her, she seemed like a nice person to talk to at first glance.
And oh my, I was so right, I still remembered every special moment like it was all yesterday!
I was visiting the cafe for the first time and it was incredibly packed! Almost impossible to even breathe because it was so stuffy. I ordered a simple Latte but couldn't find any seat available. Until, I spotted Emily who had one more seat!
I finally brought up the courage and asked her, " Hi! Umm, do you mind if I sit with you? Most of the seats have been taken and this is the only seat left. "
And to my surprise, she showed me a smile as a friendly gesture and said, " Sure! It's always crowded in here, not many people are lucky to find seats of their own. Have a seat! "
I felt relieved at that time and ever since that day, she had been the very first person I had ever talked to since I started pursuing my job as a photographer.
Surprisingly, Emily too was working as a photographer. From the same company as me. What are the odds!
And if I remembered correctly, the first thing we had ever talked about to each other by the table, was how good looking one of the waiters were in the cafe.. There were strangely many guys there that caught our attention. Especially for Emily haha!
And yes, I'm 100% sure most of us, including you guys ( my audience ) do that. We were both actually quite lucky to get a smile from him!
I also could tell from the look of Emily's reaction, she looked like she was gonna be eight months pregnant in the blink of an eye!
Alright enough flashbacks of the past, let's move on to the present.
Once we reached the cafe, we ordered our coffee and a slice of cream cheesecake each.
Once we got our meal, we immediately located and successfully sat by the table that was nearest to the exit of the cafe because both of us knew, we wouldn't be able to make it out of here alive due to the massive amount of customers walking in and out....
The cafe itself was indeed a popular choice amongst the majority of residents, so it would make sense that the inside would represent an actual zombie apocalypse. It didn't really matter what time it was, it would always be crowded. Even by 12:30a.m, we noticed people still waiting in line to order their drinks or foods.
" Luckily we managed to order safely and get the best seats! ", Emily said while flashing a quick smile at me.
" Was that a smile for me? Or for one of your many crushes? ", I replied while putting my bag down.
" Oh be quiet will you! I don't wanna get exposed! HAHA! So, any news going on in the love department for you? ", Emily asked me while sipping her coffee.
" No way, pfft, please, if you had to ask anyone that kind of question, I would be the last person you would ever ask. I'm not the type to go out and look for love. C'mon, look at me! I look like a 30 year old women even though I'm only 24 years old! Besides, what's with the sudden question?," I replied.
Emily started putting on her slightly disappointed face.
" Well.. ever since you and that retarded ex of yours. What was his name? Ass? Tan? Tonz? ", she continued.
I took a deep breath and face palmed myself.
" YOU MEAN ASHTON? ", I replied in an unbelievably dumbfounded tone.
I would understand if someone couldn't remember my ex's name, but I wonder how the names, Ass, Tan or even Tonz came into her brain...
Emily then nodded her head in agreement.
" Yeah! Bingo! After you guys ended things, you've been locking yourself away from love. And it really hurts me! I'm your best friend gurl! ".
Despite me feeling the need to punch a wall or Emily to be more exact. Whatever she said, was true.
It's been almost three years since me and my ex ended things. He really was a jerk. I didn't even want to mention his name to anyone. Nor the actions he did towards me.
After that horrific moment, I forbid myself to find love nor get involved with anyone romantically. I didn't want my heart to be crushed again. It was a painful experience and it could only happen one time.
So then I said, while taking a bite into my creamy cheesecake,
" My life is already filled with more than dozens of people coming in and out asking me to take their picture, I don't think I would have time to deal with all this romance. Maybe I might, but not now. Alright? "
Emily's face started to turn from a sad face to a more relieved and happy face.
She said, " Oh thank goodness, for once, I honestly thought you were gonna end up like those introverts. Well, not saying that they're bad or anything, I feel like their life is quite boring without love. Anyways, since you said " soon ", I'm gonna be expecting to see 500+ messages coming from you stating that you found your Mr Right. HAHAHAHAHAH. "
I choked on my coffee and said, " *cough cough* Shut up! That's not funny! ".
While Emily was laughing hard on her side, I quickly took the opportunity, grabbed my fork and yanked off quater part of her cake.
" AHHHH! THE HELL! WHY'D YOU DO THAT?!?! NOT MY CAKEE! ", Emily shouted in disbelief.
" PAYBACK BITCH! ", I replied.
We then continued our night filled with joy, laughter and a little bit of " special " advice from one another.
An hour later, me and Emily payed for our drinks and meal, said our farewells, separated from the cafe and walked back home.
Once I got back to my apartment, I quickly threw myself into the shower. Dancing and singing to the latest bops.
And if I might add, the 70's to the 90's had the best songs to be ever created.
The modern generation just doesn't seem to understand nor appreciate it!
Plus! Doing this in the shower is something that I regularly do.
ESPECIALLY, when I'm alone, well I'm already living by myself so.. yeah T-T.
I then told myself while rinsing my hair under the cold water,
" *sighs* Living alone is a little bit sad but it's alright, it will eventually become a good thing :) "
However, if I woke up late for something important and I ended up being in a hurry, I would have to ditch the fun :(.
Either way, after my quick shower, I hopped into my grey pyjamas and went straight to my working table to get some extra work done.
In my head, I thought, " Today is a Friday night... of course there will be extra work, no one can escape from a Friday night T-T ".
While I was doing my work, my phone suddenly vibrated.
Wondering who could be texting me at such a late hour and with a curious feeling, I looked at my phone and saw a message from an unknown person.
I looked at the message, and the first thing that came to my mind was, " This is the weirdest text that I have ever received in my life. "
It wrote,
" Dear Stranger, I'm writing this to let you know that something incredible is about to happen to YOU and this is partially my fault so forgive me for that, but who knows, you might even enjoy it :). My identity shall remain unknown and this message will be deleted automatically within the next 24 hours. As for you, get ready to experience a full time change starting tomorrow. Good luck.
- Unknown "
My head started to be filled with thoughts and curiosity, what could this unknown person mean by " something incredible " and what does this person mean by " full time change? "
Then I figured, that this could probably be a prank from another colleague of mine or from Emily.
So, I didn't really put in much thought. But I was still continuously scratching my head, thinking about what was gonna happen to me tomorrow.
I kept thinking and thinking until I finished up the last batch of my pile of hell ( work ).
Soon, I left my phone to charge on my desk and collapsed onto my bed while snuggling up with my blanket as I closed my eyes.
Eventually, I slowly had forgotten about the strange message once I knocked out. That was until the following morning arrived.
