"Ugh..." 

A lady behind a shabby, wooden counter looked Mel up and down with tangible disgust. 

For once in her life, Mel couldn't care less about her scornful gaze. Sure, she was covered in Fiends' blood and filth, but that was just the proof of what she'd done. 

Mel emptied a bag full of lesser mana cores on the counter, the crystals clattering against each other as the lady blinked, puzzled. 

The woman's expression changed so fast it was almost funny. 

"How much is this worth?" Mel asked, staring her down. 

"Um... Give me a moment." 

A few minutes later, Mel walked out of that office with the crystals in her purse having been replaced by royals. 

Not many, of course. If making money through adventuring was that easy, everyone would risk their lives to do it. But, she made more than enough to visit her next stop.
