Capítulo 9: He asked about her
Shen Xi stayed at home watching tv and eating only, she had stayed home for eight days now.
At school...
Lu Chai couldn't concentrate in class at all, he wanted to see Shen Xi but he didn't know why she wasn't in school, since he didn't have any friends he didn't know who to ask. He mustered courage and walked to Wang Pe.
"Young master?" Wang Pe was surprised to see him standing by her.
"Where is Shen Xi? why isn't she coming to school?"
Wang Pe was shocked, this little boy always ignored Shen Xi and today he was asking about her? Lu Chai got impatient seeing that the girl was refusing to answer his question.
"She...she is sick, she's having a cold"
"Do you know when she would come back?"
"Until she gets well"
Lu Chai nodded and left to sit down.
A week later...
Shen Xi got down and saw Wang Pe running toward her, when she got closer she hugged Shen Xi so tight that Shen Xi started to suffocate, before Shen Xi could push her away, she felt tears on her shoulder. Wang Pe was crying!
"Wang Pe" Shen Xi patted her back to stop her from crying.
"Shen Xi...Shen Xi...school was so boring without you, I missed you so much" Wang Pe complained amidst tears.
"I'm sorry, I'll never get sick again"
"Come, let me hold your bag for you, you must be tired" Wang Pe collected all her bags from her and slung them behind her back" Let's go" she held Shen Xi's hand and escorted her to the class.
Lu Chai sat down in a bad mood, Shen Xi had not come to school now for two whole weeks. As he was pondering over his fate, he heard her voice and then he saw her enter the class. He immediately got up and rushed to her" Are...are you okay?" he asked her.
Shen Xi was dumbstruck, what time did he reach here? moreover, he seemed worried about her.
"I'm fine...I'm fine" she blushed and looked down to avoid being noticed by him.
"Oh okay," and he walked back to his seat.
Shen Xi did not understand what was going on, why did he suddenly seem to care about her?
Wang Pe pulled her aside and whispered into her ears" Do you know the young master has been asking of you lately?"
"Really? That's good, maybe he finally wants to be my friend"
At home...
Shen Xi got home and started running about happily, her mother got worried because her little girl might fall.
"Shen Xi!"
Shen Xi saw her mother chasing after her and after running for a bit, she got tired and rested which caused her mother to catch her. She raised her hands for her mother to carry her and when she was carried she clung to her mother's neck.
"Darling what made you so happy?" her mother looked into her eyes and smiled while asking the question.
"Mommy my friends welcomed me and said they missed me when I didn't come to school" she spoke happily and kissed her mother's cheeks.
"Mommy is happy for you as well baby, now go on and change your clothes" her mother placed her down and walked back to the kitchen.
At dinner, Shen Xi couldn't help but smile throughout that her father got suspicious.
"Xixi did you get a boyfriend?" her father asked and stopped eating while looking at her.
The twins giggled at their father's question which they thought was stupid, how could their innocent sister get a boyfriend at this age?
"Shen Kun, how could you ask your little daughter such a question?" Ning Nu also stopped eating and looked at him questionably.
"Mommy, daddy I just got happy because my classmates said they missed me when I got to school today"
"Nunu I was just asking" Shen Kun looked at her apologetically.
Next day at school...
Shen Xi gave her parents kisses on their cheeks before running off. They wondered why she suddenly wanted to come to school so early today.
She entered the class but it seemed no one had come, as she walked towards her seat she saw a figure sitting by the window, it was none other than Lu Chai.
She tapped him and he jolted awake before recognising her.
"Do you always come to school this early?" she pulled a chair and sat by him.
"Yes"
"En...I...I have a question, can we be best friends?" she asked out of the blue.
"Yes"
Shen Xi was shocked, maybe he didn't hear her well.
"I said can we be best friends?" she asked again
"I heard you perfectly and I said yes, do you want me to disagree?"
"No...no...I like it like that, so...excuse me" she ran out of the classroom to clasp some breath, she was finally friends with him and best friends as such.
