Capítulo 40: The Private Suite

The car came to a complete stop outside the mansion, the Alfonzo estate looming above me, cloaked in shadows. 

I looked outside the window and thought of what would happen if I had tried to escape since instead of just sitting obediently in the backseat, anticipating a harsh reminder of Bruno's control over me.

But I already knew the answer, I was helpless when it came to Bruno. I couldn't do anything because he terrified and intrigued me at the same time.

I closed my eyes and said a silent prayer because I felt this was the last time I would ever have this kind of quietness from now on.

I feared he might end my life today just to prove a point to his family and other members of the underground New York crime families. Probably the same thing he had done to Eliza, my half-sister.

My heart raced as Bruno's bodyguards opened my door. The chill from their blank expressions did nothing to calm my nerves.
