The taxi driver, who often solicited business at the hospital entrance, thought that Isabel Smith was suffering from some incurable disease that had been diagnosed but she couldn't accept it. So he drove towards another large hospital while chatting with her in a variety of topics.

The taxi driver's accent showed that he was a native of Bellshire, warm and humorous in speech. However, Isabel couldn't bring herself to laugh. Instead, she stared out the car window, her eyes slowly clouded with a heavy haze. As she gently lowered her eyelids, tears began to fall.

Isabel didn't know if it was because she couldn't accept this reality or she was unable to do so. She went to three different hospitals, making a fuss until eight o'clock in the evening, only to receive the same result.
