Screams of terror resounded from the burning city of the faerieland and the cries of the young children left behind were almost deafening. It reminded Amelia of the time when the darklings attacked their hometown. The imperious faes of Shayla Kingdom were no match against the force of the creatures from the Dark Abyss, leaving them helpless without their queen to protect them.

Amelia thought that perhaps being a mortal human wasn't so bad. She failed to understand why anyone would want to live more than a century in the war-stricken and pitiful world they were living in. She supposed that greed played a significant role in it or that immortality had clouded the darklings' view in life.
