Capítulo 85: You don't have the choice anymore (4)

Lazar took a deep breath before he decided to speak since he wasn't comfortable revealing things about himself, let alone his past out of decency, "Have you ever killed someone who didn't deserve it?" He asked out of the blue, trying to keep a neutral facade so that the meaning this question had for him would remain vague to Amandla at first...

The latter began to stare at him, thinking that having asked such an unusual question would perhaps induce in Lazar a reaction as unusual as his question, but she saw no emotion leaking from his face and as Lazar had expected, she was mistaken about what he meant, "Why did you kill Francis if you thought he didn't deserve it?" She asked with curiosity and without Lazar detecting any judgment in her tone of voice.

Before answering Amandla, Lazar walked over to the head of Francis which was right in front of her, he lowered himself when he got within arm's reach of it, grabbed it by the hair, then threw it over the gate of a nearby house under Amandla's confused gaze, "Francis threatened me to expose everything he knew about me to Andrew. I was raised with the belief that it's my duty to do what I just did to a person who threatened me to do what he threatened to do, so as far as I'm concerned, no, he deserved to die." He said with an attitude far too relaxed for Amandla to continue to have any doubt that he had yes or no any qualms when he killed Francis.

This answer was quite clear, but it raised new questions for Amandla; on several occasions Lazar had mentioned the notions of honor and duty, and from the way he had just spoken about it, she understood that these notions were engraved in him and extreme to the point that they weren't incompatible with murder in certain cases like the one of Francis...

A mentality like that wasn't common at all and she knew that it wasn't coming from his time in the special forces because he had just said that it was the result of his education in the first place, 'However, I'm sure it didn't come from his adoptive mother either.' She concluded with certainty as she thought back to what she believed she knew about this women.

'In all the pictures I saw of her, she wasn't giving the image of a person who could have given him those kind of values or who could have been an example for him considering the way he is today, in fact, they look totally different from each other. She gave me the impression of being a cheerful and candid person, and when it came to the pictures with Lazar, I could immediately see in her smile all the maternal love she had for him... the complete opposite of Lazar who was constantly looking like he was restraining his feelings.' Amandla mused before coming to what was perhaps the answer to her questions...

'Lazar Sogorov.' She couldn't put her finger on it, but in any case the last name of Lazar was familiar to her and in a bad way, which led her to think that it was his biological family who had made him like that.

'Was she always such a terrible listener?' Lazar thought with his arms crossed as a sign of annoyance since he wasn't appreciating the fact that she seemed to be lost in the clouds right now...

"By the way..." Lazar interrupted Amandla's train of thought with a slightly irritated tone as she was trying to remember why she found his last name familiar, "...you didn't really answer my question."

Amandla's expression changed as if she had just come out of a hypnosis, 'What have I done? that's not like me. I shouldn't have try to push him to tell me what he wasn't ready to tell, it's rude and none of my business. He's allowed to have a private life and secrets.' She had just realized that she was doing a fixation on Lazar and that it was perhaps another effect of the bond between them.

Seeing Amandla wince, Lazar sighed and decided to just give up, "Forget what I was going to say, let's just focus on the task at hand." He stated before heading towards the back doors of the truck, not wanting Amandla to waste any more time even though knowing what he was about to do, he would almost be tempted to give her the chance.

After hearing him, Amandla realized that she had missed something important, not because of what he said, but because the bond she had with him made her sense that behind his apparent frustration, it was sadness that Lazar was feeling...

Unfortunately, it was clear that there was nothing she could do about it at the moment, 'I'll talk only when necessary until I have control over my brain again, I think it's better for both of us...' She decided, thinking that she had behaved poorly.

On his side, Lazar eventually opened the back doors, seeing that the passengers of the truck were looking at him like a group of sheep wondering with what sauce the wolf in front of them was going to eat them, he decided to explain them what was going on...

They might panic even more but at least it would make them a little more cooperative, "The place where we were supposed to drop you off has been attacked so the plan has changed slightly." He said, getting straight to the point.

Contrary to what he expected, the passengers didn't panic that much, they just seemed to want him to tell them what was awaiting them now, 'After all, I didn't specify the extent of the mess...' Lazar thought to himself.

He then pointed to Katelyn's unconscious body, "I'm going to need her help so would you be so kind as to wake her up?" He asked with a slight urge to vomit rising in him because he had just admitted out loud that he needed the help of this freak.

Seeing that Katelyn's seat neighbors were merely shaking her with moderate force, Lazar growled, "For fuck sake, slap the shit out of her, it'll go faster."

REFLEXIONES DE LOS CREADORES
Barbare Barbare

Once again I finish writing my chapter a bit late, sorry (at least I post more of them...(I almost feel like I'm the only one who has a problem with the posting time of my chapters in fact))

Apart from that, I know there's not much action in the last chapters but apart from that, what do you think of their quality (understanding of what I am trying to narrate, expression of the emotions of the characters,...)?

An information about the next chapter; a part of it remains on the Boston plot and in a second part we will go back to New York.

See you soon
