For the next two days, Naggar had an assigned cot. He could see us, through the entrance to his tent, but we weren't supposed to be able to see him.
Of course I could. Naggar might have had a crossbow hidden in there with him. I was mindful of his line of view, and when I was in it.
That was how Dagon was finally able to sneak up on me. I yelped in surprise as he touched my shoulder.
"Walk with me." was all he said, escorting me downwind of the camp. "What the HELL kind of training does that in just three days?" he asked.
"Drill sergeant, I feel you should direct your concerns toward drill sergeant Rebis."
"I'm. Asking. You."
"[Gluttonous Skin], [Envy Trip], and [Vanity Grapple]." I said. "The physical training while I healed was just to keep me physically fit."
"Be honest with all the drill sergeants."
"I really don't have an option about that, drill sergeant."
"You going to give me a line about Truthspeaker oaths?"
This conversation got away from me. I was planning on saving the Culling for later, but Dagon is Dagon, and sees the world differently. He KNEW that particular word would cause Rhishi emotional trauma.
Because of his unique abilities. I may go through all of the drill sergeants, but not all at once. Not because I don't want to do it, but because it defies belief that they'd all do it all at once.
Thank you, all, for your continued readership. It makes me struggle to do my very best, every chapter.
