Capítulo 28: Followed
Her going out from the mansion was not interrupted by anyone as the men around all thought she must have been contacted for an emergency case.
Immediately she drove out she ran to the trunk to open it and Pedro came out without saying any word to her. He moved to the front seat without asking if that was where she wanted him to stay.
"What is it with you have been acting very cold" Haley questioned him the moment she entered the car to start moving again.
"What have you been expecting me to say? I have nothing to say" he replied rudely..
This action reminded her of the former Pedro she was used to. The timid Pedro who was always forced into conversation. His silence could be very frustrating. He knew that very well and could only be making attempt to make her frustrated she reasoned.
"I have some questions I want to ask you if you don't mind" Haley stated as she turned to look at him hoping he would answer her.
"I am all ears "he replied looking outside in a bid to avoid her gaze.
"Is there anyone you have as a friend in BigJo that could be of help to us on this case" Haley asked
Pedro kept quiet for a while as he made a face to suggest he was thinking about her question. She was not surprised since then she knee Pedro hardly made friends with anybody.
Then when they dated she has been the one who had to force herself into his heart. She had picked him instead of him being the one to pick her. And just when he was gradually beginning to warm up to her that was when she broke up with him.
"I really don't have any friend over there. But there is this guy Zigrin by name. He was on guard with me that day in the Minister's house. Although he was not assigned to the minister's daughter room that day. He has been in BigJo for over six years now. I once saved his life hence I believe he still owes me. Maybe if you question him with the intention to help me he would comply" What Pedro replied her.
Haley thought for a while about his reply. It was not the best of plans but then he was the only one who had some form of relationship with Pedro. Besides he will be also amongst the people she would have to question since he was on guard that day so she will have to make it natural when questioning him till she was sure he could be trusted. Someone with six years experience in BigJo will really have a lot to say about them if well pressed.
"By chance did you ever get to meet with the owner of BigJo? Haley asked again as that was another important question for her.
"No I never got to meet him but I can tell you this. The owner of BigJo is a big politician in this town who probably had massive connections ti the Governor and the president, " Pedro replied as he stole a looke outside again.
Haley noticed he kept stealing glances outside and wondered if he was suspicious of her intentions.
"Don't worry I am taking you somewhere safe , don't think I want to betray you. So just relax " she tried to assure him.
"That's not the issue. We are being followed by two cars " He informed her with dark tone in his voice
