Capítulo 23: Being Interrogated
"Shiena" in the midst of a tension, Ayensi suddenly called Shiena.
Popping out of her daze, Shiena immediately responded, "Yes, Master?"
"What would you do if you're in this situation?"
Receiving this question, Shiena looked around to see the blades pointed at them. She paused for a while before answering;
"If they are only pointing their blades at me, it would've been fine since I know that they are lower beings and that they don't understand what they are doing. However..." her eyes suddenly went blank and eerie.
Captain Gragan frowned when he saw the deep abyss within these beauty's eyss.
"They are also pointing their sticks towards Master... I would kill them."
Ayensi nodded.
"Thank you for reminding me what I shouldn't do."
"What are you whispering about!?" the female Imperial Knight shouted at them, "Answer the captain's question!"
"And know they are shouting at Master... Master, one word and I shall purge these insolent beings." Shiena sinisterly smiled.
Ayensi laughed at Shiena and rubbed her head.
Shiena first enjoyed it but when she saw Ayensi's eyes glaring towards her, her heart skipped a beat.
"Don't be stupid, Shiena.. Didn't I tell you already that we shouldn't kill? I'm barely holding myself from waving my hand and exterminating these monkeys along with their same-minded specie. Don't you dare take the joy of killing them while I do nothing, understand?"
Under Ayensi's fierce glare, Shiena's breathing heavier as she held his hand and answered with a soft voice, "Yes, Master."
Ayensi blinked a few time before retracting his head.
'Strange, as wise as I am, I don't understand her or Spirit's reaction.' he then shook his head, 'No, I can only blame myself. This should be because I didn't interact with people back then or even at my past life. I didn't even take a minute to study them. The subject of mankind would practically be where my least expertise lies at.'
'Are they flirting while being questioned?' Captain Gragan felt sour, "This is my ultimatum. If you don't answer, we will have to resort to a forceful interrogation. We are only holding ourselves because the Great Emperor seemed fond of you."
He then repeated his question.
"Who are you and what are your intentions?"
Ayensi calmly answered.
"As the Great Emperor said earlier, my name is Ayensi Sole Tiowen, you can call me Yensi, if you will."
Shiena's face then perked up like a child, 'Yensi? That's very cute, I will use that from now on.' she had the face of victory.
"As for my intentions? Well, me and my servant here were just rogue travelers once. However, as you all know, it isn't easy surviving in the wild. It wasn't the life I sought for and that was when the Great Emperor encountered me years earlier. Seeing my strength, he invited me to a meal once. We hit it off and he invited me into his empire. However, I was still skeptical at that time. That is why I had to, unfortunately, decline. But now that we met again, I am happy to take the offer if it is open. And lucky me, the offer is now the Captain of the Imperial Knight!"
Ayensi naturally came up with a story and narrated it as if it actually happened. Furthermore, his expression, the tone of his voice, and his body signatures did not seem off.
Ayensi Sole Tiowen is a natural actor.
'I would be greatly disappointed in myself if I cannot do this much.'
Since the Great Emperor only told a brief story, Ayensi can fill up the gaps as much as he can.
However, Captain Gragan still found it suspicious.
"Years earlier...? What time exactly? The Great Emperor don't go out alone, especially to a place where rogue travelers like you roam. Additionally, we are still the emperor's knights back then. We should've remembered you."
"Of course, you wouldn't, Captain Gragan." instead of panicking, Ayensi calmly smiled as if he had the whole situation in the palm of his hand.
"What do you mean?" Captain Gragan became curious about where Ayensi was getting his confidence from.
"Why do you think that the Emperor would go out in the first place? That is to meet his daughter. If the Guardian of Spirit is there, how could the emperor's life be in danger? You just said it yourself, Captain, that you, the Imperial Knights as a whole has just... ehem... has half the strength of a Guardian. Am I wrong?"
Even Shiena was surprised by Ayensi's reasoning.
Captain Gragan flinched a little but still asked, "How would you know that the Emperor does not want anyone else when bonding with his daughter, the Guardian of Spirit?"
"Did you forget, captain? I said earlier that the emperor invited me to a meal. Of course, we had a lot of exchanges. As for how I can still remember it, how can you even forget the time the Great Emperor of Mealma himself invited you to a meal in the first place?"
Captain Gragan nodded. When Shiena thought that it was over, the captain asked one last time.
"Yensi, your words are uncannily believable. As if you prepared your explanations for this kind of situation." he then caressed his chin, "It is as if you're too defensive."
'This little...!' both Shiena and Spirit almost cursed when Captain Gragan finished his words.
He may look smug at this moment but if only he knew that he didn't only offend Guardian of the Spirits but also Celestial Shiena herself, he would've been on his knees already.
Shiena looked at Ayensi worriedly. He was too natural that it seemed scripted!
In the next moment, Ayensi frowned with a smile as he raised his hands.
"Oh stop joking, captain. How can I not be defensive when the Imperial Knights who have half the strength of a Guardian as a whole are pointing their weapons at me? Furthermore, if you doubt my words, we can talk to the emperor about it and even the Guardian of Spirit herself. I and my servants here were very lucky to have a meal together with them even if it's just a one-time thing."
Hearing Ayensi believes that they do have the strength of half a Guardian was very flattering.
"Put down your swords..." Captain Gragan ordered.
However, every time Ayensi says that they do have the strength of half a Guardian, it wasn't a compliment but was, in fact, mockery.
'When I was weaker than you, I was ashamed to be below the Guardians back then. How can you be proud to say that you're weaker than someone? There is a term for that.'
Ayensi internally scoffed.
