Capítulo 97: Chapter 97 A Season In-Between

3rd person’s POV

The wind blew across the trees, taking with it dead leaves and fallen pinecones. The gray clouds hung low, thick with rain and snow. The air was cold, but not yet frosty as it was usually this time of year. The animals of the forest chipped and clipped, having spent all summer making ready for the season.

The fall season…

It was a strange time. The forest was still not wrapped in winter’s silence, yet the life that had been there before was gone. It was cold and unmerciful, yet not in the way winter was. It was an “in-between” sort of season. The reminders of what was behind still lingered in the air, but you couldn’t escape what was to come.

Of the cold…

There was a strange sense of stillness in the cabin. Everyone looked on with horror as the small marble neckless rolled to a standstill. The wolves could scent the blood on it and realized that it was still fresh. The pink hair was tangled in the chain as if someone had ripped it off in haste.
