The effigies outnumbered us by two but their durability and power level made it much harder for us than it needs to be. However, they were no match for me in terms of speed and Tommy in terms of unpredictability. The guy fights like his life depends on it every time, how would you predict someone who is even willing to harm himself to win a fight?
There was an energy barrier between us and the robots for ten seconds so we had time to strategize a battle plan. The only thing we knew about these robots was the fact that they have a hollow space in the back of their necks, which is probably their weak spot.
"What is the strategy?" I asked.
"They have probably locked on to both of us equally, divide and conquer isn't going to work. How fast can you create a lightning bolt?" Tom asked back.
"Five seconds," I answered.
"Great then I will go for the right most one, paralyze that guy when I give you the signal and I will destroy it," Tom explained.
"Got it!" I said.
Swoosh
With a small gust of air, the barrier disappeared as both of us ran towards the right side of the room.
Crackle
Since I was fighting without my suit, I had to be strategic about this. So, I ran up the side of the wall, avoiding the sight of the robots and reached the other side of the room, within in a second before gathering up some of the lightning in my right arm.
Ever since I figured out my attributes, I have never had to run around to gather up enough energy to generate electricity.
Actually, I can conjure it in a second but I don't need to be truthful all the time.
Zap~
Since the robots that were supposed to keep an eye on me, lost track of me, all of them were disoriented for a moment and that was enough for Tommy to run back and fire two arrows at their heads while dodging their energy blasts.
He didn't show any footwork... His form was imperfect, but the angle and his arm strength made up for that, the arrow had hit directly in their faces. He looked like an apex hunter rather than an archer.
'So that's how hunters are... It seems the story has filled in the gaps that I failed to describe,' I thought, watching his every move and imprinting them in my mind unknowingly. I didn't even realise that I had subconsciously learned the Hunter's Way with a single glance. It felt like I could execute it right away without building any muscle memory.
Swoosh~
Puff
Crackle
A small cloud of smoke blurred their vision and as they were about to clear it a bolt of lightning struck one of them, shocking the other one that was near it in the process.
Swoosh~
The robot tried to turn around and fire at me but before he could do so, another arrow hit its neck from the back, before blowing it up for good.
BOOM
The shards of the robot had scattered across the room hitting everything around it.
Crackle
In a millisecond, I grabbed Tommy and moved him to another corner of the room, putting him out of harm's way.
"Alright now you try it," Tom said, passing me his long bow and a single arrow.
"Dude! I just saw you do it for once, that isn't enough for me to just copy you!" I tried to reason with him.
"Just try it, everything will seem much simpler if you try not to complicate it in your head," Tom said, handing over the bow to me. "And remember if you miss its nape then you won't get a second chance, proceed with this mentality."
'Should I imprint a command like that in my mind? That's how I unlocked my attribute... I guess it wouldn't hurt to try,' I thought.
I prepared the arrow in the bow and imprinted the command in my mind. The feeling of imprinting something in my mind was definitely disturbing. It felt as if I had told myself to do something that I know is impossible.
Crackle
Without giving the robots any time to fire an energy blast, I ran at them at my top speed and slipped in between the gaps amongst them to get to the other side, which gave me an open view of their weak spots.
Instead of getting up from the ground, I adjusted my bow to a different angle to get a better shot.
Swoosh~
As the arrow flew out of my bow, it hit exactly where I wanted it to hit which ultimately blew up the head of the robot just the same as the first one.
All of a sudden, to our surprise the other two powered down as well, and we nervously turned our heads around to find Edward standing near the doorway, where the hologram was located, angrily looking at the both of us.
"I believe I had asked you not to destroy anything. Am I wrong, Mr. Allen and Mr. Wayne? You had one job... And yet..." Edward grunted. "I am so angry that words alone can't describe it... Come here right now!"
Crackle
Within a second I got up from the ground and dragged Tommy along with me in front of Edward, bowing our heads.
"Do you know how much time and hard work it takes to make one of these?" Edward asked angrily.
"I could just-" I tried to reply to him but Tommy covered my mouth immediately as soon as he realised what I was about to say.
"Don't make it worse you idiot," Tommy whispered.
"You were saying, Mr. Allen? I didn't quite catch you there," Edward asked. "If you don't have anything to say then... I will read out your punishments.
You are not allowed in this room for a month. You will do a C rank or above mission from any department, I don't care if it's a co-op or solo. And deposit the exact amount of damage that you caused, by a month."
"I can repair them if you want," I said.
'Bloody Hell! He said it,' Tommy thought.
"Repair it, you say? Sure that works as well but I want it exactly like it was," Edward replied.
"I will have it done in a day," I answered.
'That worked?' Tommy thought, surprised by the outcome.
"Now then... GET OUT OF MY CLASS!" Edward shouted at us as we hurriedly ran away from his sight.
"Sigh... Why do all the uncontrollable students always turn out to be the best ones? What am I supposed to do with them?" Edward reprimanded himself.
