A few days before school, I went to the goblins of Gringotts.
"Teller Ragnuk, I would like to rent a goblin-made dagger" I said as the goblin looked amused and asked me to follow him.
"Here is the contract. It's good that you know we don't sell goblin silver weapons. It is lent to you for life. On your death, Gringotts collect it back" he said.
I took the contract and read it. Once I made sure things were good, I signed it.
"Can I see the models that you have?" I asked as he gave me a book with various images of weaponry on it including daggers. The cheapest ones cost 2000 galleons or so. My bank account this way is gonna run dry of the 500,000 I had if I don't make some side income soon.
"I will take this one". I selected a small one with a 4-inch blade and a total length of 8 inches. It had a black dragonhide leather handle with a tapering pommel and rectangular cross guard. Not in any way fancy.
"Could you make sure that it is not shiny so that it does not reflect light?" I asked which surprised the goblin. He thought the wizard wanted to handle the dagger as a showpiece. It seems like he is buying one that can be concealed and used in secret.
"Yes, I can make that for you."
Soon the dagger arrived. It felt cold to the touch. Unlike the gnome dagger I had, this was definitely a step up. Gnome daggers are good blades, but goblin daggers are made to kill.
As I handled the dagger, the goblin looked surprised. 'This wizard knows how to handle a dagger, and he is no amateur. Goblins rarely use daggers in battle but I believe that this guy may be able to throw that dagger true in a battle and best me.'
"I am glad that the blade will see the blood of your enemies wizard" said the goblin.
"That it will teller Ragnuk, may your enemies die by your blades and your coffers flow with gold" I said giving a curt bow and walking out of the bank, the dagger secured in my holster.
I came back home and ate lunch prepared by Misky. After I gave her a book of recipes from the muggle world, the dishes were becoming more varied. Once I started biting into those delectable Birria tacos she made, I let out a moan of satisfaction. Sweet, savory, and sour all in one bite as the juices from the meat started trickling down my lips. I licked my lips and started eating honestly like a hungry pig.
While I ate, Sky came through the window, carrying a metal canister. I got up, cleaned up and took the canister, and went to the study. Inside it was a vial of 3 drops of basilisk poison I obtained from the Gnomes. I didn't need to inform the goblins that I was purchasing poisons now, do I?
As carefully as possible I dripped the drops onto the blade. it truly was amazing how the most potent venom just got absorbed into the goblin blade. It should be a property of goblin silver I guess. I sheathed the dagger in a specially made dragon and basilisk hide sheath. The total value of this plain-looking blade was now around 2300 galleons.
I remembered that the diary Horcrux will soon be out in the open and boytoy Malfoy senior might start stirring the already muddled cauldron. I wanted to switch out that diary and destroy it, but on second thought I had no foolproof way to obtain it without garnering the attention of others. It will also help the students grow as wizards. They need to know that this world is not all plushie toys and rainbows but filled with people who would do anything to benefit their wishes and greed.
I went to school before the day of the feast and set my schedule of classes in order. Once that was done I took a walk around the castle and came to Hagrids hut.
"Hey Hagrid, how are you" I said as I saw the giant man sitting outside chilling with a mug of ale in his hand. I conjured up a small table and chair and put two glasses and a bottle of vodka. I poured the drink and gave one to him.
"I am good Professor" said the gentle giant taking a gulp of the drink and immediately regretting it.
"It's like firewhiskey without the occasional spewing of fire, you may want to take small sips" I said and sipped the drink.
"What brings you here Professor?" he asked.
"I wanted to know about acromantulas. I wanted to acquire some of their poison. I have heard there was a nest within the forest and was wondering if you could direct me." I said my intention.
"Ther is one on the west side from here, It's quite a big one. I can get you the venom if you need it. I have a working partnership with the acromantulas" he replied.
"No need for that Hagrid. I was intending to explore the forest myself for a bit" I said and soon finished the cup.
"See you later Hagrid". I said and slowly went into the forbidden forest towards the nest. As I neared the nest the clicking sounds intensified and the size of acromantulas that I've begun to see increased. Soon I reached a dome made of spider web. I entered it slowly. It seemed like the acromantulas were making way for me while encircling me. 'Subtle I thought'
"Who is it?" Came a tired voice from a small cave within the dome of spider web.
"I am Quirrell, a friend of Hagrid."
"What do you want friend of Hagrid" asked the giant spider.
"Few ounces of your venom". I said and threw a large vial towards the huge acromantula.
This reply caused rapid clicking amongst the spiders.
"How dare you ask for my venom? Kill him kids and bring his meat to me." the giant acromantula said.
"Oh boy, here we go." I said and waved my wand in a circle above me and chanted Ignis Funem. A thick rope of fire emerged from my wand and slashed at the acromantulas that came near me. The fire rope spell I learned after multiple defeats with Dawlmort was excellent when it came to both controlling crowd and individual bouts.
What came in the next half an hour could only be described as dismemberment of the highest order. I cut off parts from the acromatulas using the fire rope. None of them could come close due to the heat generated in a circle around me. I tried not to kill any of them but wanted to instill fear in them.
I sent out a wave of thinner rope towards the large spider within the cave and bound him with it over and over. He now looked like a red dumpling with just the head poking out. I controlled the temperature so as not to burn the old spider.
"I was not asking Aragog" I said and walked up to the coccoonified spider, pushed the vial to his pincers, and took the venom. "See that wasn't hard at all was it?"
"Do you know why I did not kill your family? I asked.
"How do I know what a wizard thinks" he replied angrily.
"The only reason I let you live is that you are useful for me and I like Hagrid, who would be sad if I destroyed an entire nest." The last sentence made Aragog shudder in fear.
"What do you want wizard?"
"Simple, I know you have a working relationship with Hagrid. I want to make sure my students are safe. If any Hogwarts student comes into your lair or near any of your family, I want you not to kill them. You can scare them and chase them away. Hell go ahead and bite them if needed. But never kill them. Because if you do that, I will come back." I said and placed my hand on his head as a small rune made of thin ash wood stuck to its head. "This is a locator rune. If your family takes a student's life, I will know and this will help me find you. I hope you make a wise choice Aragog. The forbidden forest may be your playground, but it will remain as such only if you play ball with me. I will baptize your entire race with fire if something untoward happens" my eyes glowed blue.
