Capítulo 2: Chapter 1: Moonlit Forest
It is a silent night with nothing but the bright light of the moon guiding the path of two friends, partners, brothers.
Anton, with a slim and tall build and a slightly gloomy look in his eyes was the more collective and intelligent of the two boys, but also much more easy going and silly. Anton would much rather sit back and enjoy life as it unfolds, than use his intellect to push forward, only relying on it in the most dire of situations.
Darvik, unlike his best friend was shorter and muscular, he was also much more hot-headed and acted on impulse, rather than thinking through his decisions, but despite his impulsive personality, he did not lose to his friends intelligent, often being on par with or close to Anton's intellect. And unlike Anton he is much more forward with his approach to life, often willing to do the impossible and pushing beyond his limits.
And although the two seemed like a bad match for each other as friends and partners, in reality they are a good team and complete each other.
"So. How far are we from the academy?" - Asked Darvik.
"Well, to be exact, probably 2 or 3 days away, but who knows, could take longer" - Replied Anton, shrugging his shoulders.
"Really? You're the one who was supposed to find us a path" - Said Darvik with a frustrated and mocking voice.
"Yeah I was, and I did, why do you think we are walking on this path?" - Replied Anton with a slight smirk on his face
"Yeah, seems like it" - Said Darvik.
"Anyway, it seems like it might rain soon, should we find a shelter or?" - Asked Darvik, waiting for a reply.
"Well that would be a smart idea, and we are smart lads aren't we" - Replied Anton.
Darvik looked at Anton while pointing at a spot under a tree, "That seems like a good place" - Said Darvik.
As the time passed, the once bright and guiding light of the moon had faded away behind the dark clouds and the rain slowly started to fall from the clouds.
"Just in time huh. I mean, I don't mind another shower but not on a cold night" - Said Anton as he glanced over the camping gear and a campfire they managed to setup.
"We will have to change shifts, to make sure the fire doesn't go out" - Said Darvik while spinning small bits of meat over a fire.
"And to keep guard while we are at it. Something tells me this is gonna be an interesting night" - Said Anton.
As the night continued the rain and the wind became stronger, the thunder clashing in the background was the only source of light, other than the campfire to illuminate the darkness surrounding Anton and Darvik.
"Crap, at this rate the fire will go out, I need the stones" - As Darvik is pulling out 3 stones with runes engraved on them, Anton suddenly springs up from his sleeping bag.
"Something is coming" - Said Anton as he looked around erratically.
"Damn, this wind is throwing of my sense of smell" - Said Anton as he rubbed his nose quickly.
"Bring it on, whatever it is we got it" - Replied Darvik whilst drawing his spear.
Anton gets up from his knees and stands back to back with Darvik, the two get into a defensive position. They are ready for a fight.
