Capítulo 700: Green Blood and the Prototype of Pacifista

The library of Ohara contained many precious documents, which in the original timeline provided immense help to Vegapunk. However, since the things from Ohara were taken away, Vegapunk became more reliant on the World Government.

The World Government, which has stood strong for 800 years, possesses its own inside information. Many things that have vanished from the outside world are still preserved by them, including certain documents and records.

As rulers of the world, many things are easily within their grasp. Compared to the illegal actions of Ohara's archaeologists, everything they do is legal. In some ways, it's similar to the difference between archaeology and tomb raiding.

But this situation imposed many restrictions. For example, some secrets that the World Government wishes to disappear are inaccessible to even Vegapunk.

These can only be obtained through transactions. Even with the information, someone lacking the necessary skills wouldn't be able to create it.

Vegapunk traded his services to the government in exchange for more research funding and information. During this process, he created more of what the World Government needed.

...

On Punk Hazard Island, the poison gas leak hadn't occurred yet, nor had the Fleet Admiral battle. It was just an ordinary research island, with both Vegapunk and Caesar present on it.

Strictly speaking, Vegapunk is a scientist affiliated with the Marines, but the World Government also has the right to get involved.

A team of CP0 agents, carrying new orders, arrived on the island. With World Government's identification, they encountered no obstacles until they reached Vegapunk's research area, where they were finally stopped.

"The main body is too busy to deal with you. Just tell me what you need. You'd better be quick because my time is also quite tight."

In the rest area, they met York, the embodiment of greed, one of Vegapunk's clones. She substitutes for the others by resting and eating, making her relatively the most "leisurely" of all the clones.

"Here is the data you requested earlier. We brought them all."

The leading CP0 agent, seemingly accustomed to Vegapunk's attitude, placed a briefcase in front of York.

"Just this much?"

"This is the catalog; the rest is on the ship."

As soon as the words were spoken, the mechanical door in the back of the rest area slowly opened with the sound of gears turning. The main body of Vegapunk appeared—a man with a rather bizarre appearance.

"Doctor, it seems you're not that busy after all."

"Just finished an experiment. It's all because of you guys, with your heads full of war weapons. The last project isn't even done, and now you want to start something else?"

Vegapunk's tone wasn't very friendly, and his attitude toward the World Government wasn't close either. He only chose the Marines due to the changing situation in the sea, as his research required enormous funding that most factions couldn't provide.

Dragon had once invited Vegapunk to join the Revolutionary Army, but Vegapunk declined, citing that the Revolutionary Army was too poor to support his research needs. Only in a more suitable place could he fully realize his potential.

"We're working for the peace of the sea. Here is the data you need, Doctor. Please take a look."

Opening the file box, Vegapunk's eyes swiftly scanned the text, flipping through the pages at a speed incomprehensible to ordinary people. However, in reality, he had already memorized most of it. He was, after all, the Devil Fruit User of the Paramecia-type Brain-Brain Fruit.

The Brain-Brain Fruit granted him unlimited brain capacity. Combined with his innate scientific talent, he gradually led the way in research in this era. Memorizing things was simple for him; he only needed to glance at the text to remember it.

"Is this it? Where are the other things?"

"Doctor, you need to show us the result of your previous research first."

At this moment, the World Government had the leverage to negotiate. With the loss of Ohara's documents, some of Vegapunk's research progress had been severely delayed, forcing him to compromise.

"Follow me, and don't touch anything."

...

Led by Vegapunk, they entered another room filled with various mechanical parts. On the nearby screens were schematics that these agents couldn't even begin to understand.

The lines on the schematics came together to form the shape of Genesect.

Besides the two giant weapons, Emboar and Tyranitar, the war robot Genesect also caught their attention, especially since it seemed more suitable for mass production than Emboar.

For any faction, something that can be mass-produced is far more valuable than a single entity.

However, in terms of performance, Genesect was far inferior to Emboar.

As a security force, they rarely went out and engaged in combat, but the World Government still kept a close eye on them.

"This is what you wanted—a combat robot capable of identifying pirates and acting autonomously."

Vegapunk pressed a button beside him, and a robot in another compartment activated, launching an attack on a target marked as a pirate. The weapon was just a basic machine gun and flamethrower, and the design was quite rudimentary. This was the prototype of the Pacifista.

Compared to the full version of the Pacifista, this machine was very simplistic, with many aspects still under research.

The agents reported what they saw to their superiors. After receiving confirmation, they made a call to the ship, ordering the transport of the materials. They then made new demands of Vegapunk, related to the giant weapons project.

...

"What are you talking about? The human gigantification experiment has already been declared a failure. You know that, don't you? And hasn't Caesar already taken over that project? Besides, I've told you before, trying to replicate Logia-type abilities is too difficult."

"We know that, but Doctor, take a look at this."

The scene Den Den Mushi displayed footage of Tyranitar, along with the analyzed data.

"Sandstorm... Laser..."

"This is a blood sample from Crocodile. Admiral Borsalino will be in charge of defense here for the foreseeable future and will assist with your research, Doctor.

If Queen can manage to do it, then surely you can too, right?"

The World Government had ways to collect blood samples from the Shichibukai, convincing them under the guise of health checks and registration. None of them believed that a little blood would make much difference, so they all complied with the World Government's request.

This was research Vegapunk had proposed long ago, something he called "Green Blood," which was rooted in further study of the Lineage Factor.

Through the blood of Devil Fruit Users, Green Blood could allow the abilities to be replicated in others, but it was still under development and not yet perfected. Although there had been successful examples, there had never been a successful case with a Logia-type.
