What a coincidence!
Hode helplessly rubbed his forehead and sighed lightly.
"What's wrong? Don't you like this restaurant?" Gwen noticed Hode's gesture and asked with a hint of worry in her voice.
She had done her homework and knew this was the most famous couple's restaurant in New York. The dishes inside were quite expensive, and she felt a pang of regret when she decided to make a reservation here.
Logically speaking, it shouldn't be too bad, right?
"Nothing. It's fine."
Hode forced a smile and shook his head. "I just remembered some not-so-good things."
"That's good to hear. I thought you didn't like it here," Gwen said, releasing a breath of relief.
She was worried that Hode might not enjoy himself.
"How could that be? As long as I'm having dinner with you, it doesn't matter where we are," Hode said, holding Gwen's hand tightly and gazing at her with tenderness.
When Gwen met Hode's eyes, her cheeks flushed, and she instinctively averted her gaze.
Though she had made her feelings clear in various ways, she still felt incredibly shy in front of Hode; she had never had someone she liked before.
"Um, let's go inside..." Gwen said softly, lowering her head and pulling Hode towards the entrance.
An eighteen-year-old girl could easily be coaxed.
Especially one who was as innocent as she was.
Hode lifted his head, his resigned expression turning resolute.
Since he was pursuing excitement, he would see it through to the end!
They were seated at a window table, just right to enjoy the view of Forest Park outside.
The sky glowed with a faint red, the sun gradually sinking near the horizon.
The lakes in the park shimmered in the sunset, creating a crystal-clear reflection on the water's surface.
Travelers strolled by, embracing the evening breeze and savoring a moment of relaxation after work.
Inside the restaurant, the band was elegantly performing "Ballade Pour Adeline."
The soft music reverberated through the restaurant.
"What do you think? Isn't the atmosphere nice?"
"I specifically reserved this spot; the view is beautiful," Gwen said, curious and excited as she looked around after taking her seat, her big eyes sparkling.
She had indeed attended many elegant events...
But those were times when she was there to combat evil or save lives.
This was her first time sitting formally in such a restaurant.
"Dear ladies and gentlemen, here is the menu," the waiter in a tuxedo gracefully presented them with the menu.
"Lady first," Hode said with a smile and a slight nod.
"Okay!"
Gwen took the menu, stealing a glance at Hode, who was engrossed in his phone.
The more she got to know Hode, the greater her surprise.
He was clearly an all-around excellent person, yet he remained so humble and gentlemanly.
In response to Gwen's gaze, Hode simply smiled.
At that moment, he was completely absorbed and couldn't care less about anything else; his attention was solely on his phone.
[Wanda]: I'll go wait for you at St. Ives. Remember to come early; I reserved a window-side table.
