She had never opened herself to anyone, let alone she never had a friend. This tells how much she had been confined with her very own life struggles while David, at that age had no idea about the value of family and relations, maybe he still doesn't. Back then he was a carefree boy who was busy having fun around the girls and doing boyish stuff. Hell! Most of the kids around his age would do that and yet she was facing such things at such a young age.
David knew it will be hard, making her trust him but he wanted to until she opens herself to him on her own. He will care for Sabrina for the years she has missed embracing such feelings and make her believe in his sincerity, to make her see his feelings that Sabrina ignited within him without realizing it herself.
