That evening, Gu Ye prepared five dishes and one soup. In the braised chicken stew, he added sweet potatoes and potatoes. With kids around and wanting to showcase his culinary skills, he asked Li Pan and, getting her approval, made some caramelized sweet potatoes.
Li Pan and Xue Dong weren't very good at cooking this dish, so when they heard Gu Ye could make it, they asked him to make extra. He also made a small bowl of caramelized apples separately.
The remaining four dishes also included three that were stir-fried with meat, and one sweet rice wine soup, which he made into a sweet rice wine egg drop soup.
Gu Ye steamed bean flour buns without adding wheat bran—as Li Pan had suggested, since wheat bran could be harsh on the throat and they had enough food at home without needing that ingredient.
This confirmed that their farm indeed had good food, making him feel relieved; they probably wouldn't mind having an extra girl eating with them.
