Chapter 44: Across the Line
Holly Adams POV:
The tunnel only went about a hundred feet before it linked up with Boston’s system of storm drains.
“Which way now?” someone muttered.
“We don’t know how long these people have been active,” Philips said grimly. “They likely have these tunnels memorized. Listen up people, this is what we’re going to do. We’re going to split into teams of two and search in a grid pattern. Radios will likely be limited down here, so all teams will remain within earshot. Understood?”
I instinctively reached out and took Andy’s hand.
Unfortunately, Philips noticed and shook his head. “Deputy Fray will be staying with me, Corporal,” he told me. “I’m pairing you with Lieutenant April.”
A tall, blonde woman who I assumed had to be April came to stand with me.
I gave Andy’s hand a quick squeeze before I had to let go. “Be careful,” I told him.
“You, too.”
