Capítulo 114: Open betrayal
Zaffar ran towards the direction of the scream..it felt oddly familiar..as he approached the scene he felt nauseous..it had been long since he saw so much of blood.. General Rudra Verma was standing over a body..upon closer inspection Zaffar could make out that it was Shiva who died..Rudra Verma said, ' quick..let's go to the Shah..!' Zaffar looked incredulously at him..Rudra Verma stepped forward and said, ' before other men gather..let's go..' and held Zaffar's hand and moved towards the Shah's palace..
Both mounted their horses and fled as Shiva's men came running towards them..they killed Shiva...they saw the bloody sword in Rudra Verma's hand...they could understand if Zaffar did it..but why did Rudra Verma kill Shiva..their own general..they were utterly perplexed..they didn't have a leader to guide them in these times..
One of them said, ' I think we should move back to Hindustan..let's take Shiva's corpse with us..' the other one said, ' are you insane..we can't hold on to him for long. . I think Zaffar and Rudra Verma were somehow connected to each other..may be there was a conspiracy and Shiva tried to confront them and he got killed..' said the other, the first one said, ' I think you are right..let's carry Shiva and maybe we can cremate him at an isolated place.. at least we can carry his remains to his family..' they quickly moved and left..
General Rudra Verma's mind was a mess..he was asleep in his room..he heard a rustling noise, he always kept a sword by his side in his sleep..he heard a swishing noise as if someone swung a sword towards him..he quickly rolled in his bed.. and got up.. there was no scope for him to check who it was..he used all his might and struck the assassin..he then opened the window to let the light in.. to see who it was..it was Shiva..he knew that Shiva was fiercely loyal to the crown..he would never sway unless it was an order from the throne..he knew that it must be Pinaka or Samyukta..but both were fond of him ...did they know something..did they know that he desired Samyukta..did they know that he and Zaffar became Friends....now he had no choice..he had to chose a side to live on..now it was only the Shah of Iran who could be his ally...
