Capítulo 57: Ch 56: Making clothes.

Hmm, how would one make clothing with leather? I didn't even know the basics of making clothes, never really cared much for it. Now I wish I paid more attention when grandma was sewing, well, what I know for sure is that I needed measure myself first, well, I didn't have any measuring tape or anything like that, so I decided to make it myself, I cut a piece of the leather to get a long strip, then I got some red dye from ground up berries. Then I made a line on it every so often, it probably wasn't super precise and wasn't an exact centimeter, but it'll work, now that I've made some measuring tape I guess I needed to measure myself, problem is, what exactly needed to be measured?

I think with all my might all the necessary things that needed to be measured, my shoulders, my width, my height, waist, hips, arms, neck and chest also? While I was sitting thinking of what to measure Nozomi had woken up and exited likely to either train or hunt, before she leaves I stop her as I had something I wanted her to do.

"Hey Nozomi?"

"Yeah brother? Oh it looks like you finished with that leather thing."

"Yeah, but I realized that I also need other things to be made, so I want you to create a mask from wood."

"A mask? How would I make that."

"You take some woo- y'know what? It'll be quicker if I show you what a mask is."

With telepathy, I focus on one image of a mask, this was the first time I had ever used this technique, but I manage to do it. Wait a moment, can't I use this technique to be able on older memories to be able to learn more on making things?

"Ah, so that thing you use to cover a face? But how would I make it?"

My thoughts were interrupted by hearing Nozomi ask me another question.

"Try to use your wind affinity to carve a piece of wood into the shape of the mask I showed you."

"Alright, maybe I'll start to get it more when I work on it."

I let her go off to start working, I start to hear a tree coming down, I guess she got some more wood.

Now I get back to what I was working on, leather clothing, now I start taking my measurements, after I had finished taking them, I start to make something with the leather, uh what did I need to make? I guess something that cover all of my body, like a robe, uh I also just realised that I don't have something to tie the leather together, Haha that kinda rhymed. Alright now back on track, I need to get some string, now would be a good time to attempt the technique to find something in my memory, I focus on the method to make string, come on brain, remember, then suddenly as if a brick wall hit me, I had remembered! It was as if I had just opened a door to a memory, so basically, I just need to find a flax-like plant, which I manage to find growing on the plains, then I take it and return home, now I bend it in two, one of them I twist then I bring it over to the other one, I repeat that and voila! We have string, I could also make rope by a similar method, oh now I just need to remove the excess on the string, with my claws I remove the excess very easily and now I have some neat string. Now was the time to make a needle, I go take a bone from the left overs and then I create some water in the air, then make some fire under it, toss the bone in the water and make it fly then... we have a regular boiled bone, now was the time to actually carve it into the shape of a needle, although I was being extremely careful I had broken several bones before I finally got it right, now we put the string through the needle and we can actually sew! I kinda enjoyed doing this and wouldn't mind spending a ton of time doing it. I sew the leather trying to make a shirt first of all, and in the end it was a massive failure, although I made it proper to my size it couldn't really be called clothing, and the sewing with the needle required me to try it dozens of times before it worked, and even then it was impossible to remove now and a bunch of leather was wasted, I cut off the seams that I created and end up with two pieces of leather that were smaller, I decide to check up on Nozomi to see what she was doing and see a pile of wood and saw dust around, some of the pieces of wood were barely recognizable as masks.

"Are you struggling?"

"Can't you already tell?"

"Hah, you do have a point."

"How can I do this more properly?"

"Well, let's turn the wood into planks first shall we?"

"Got it."

I take one of the logs then I start grinding on it with my claws to remove its thick layer, after removing that we had ourselves a really thick plank.

"Oh? Doing it while the tree is like this is a lot easier, thanks Rai."

"No problem."

Looking at the sky, it was now mid day, we had been working for a ton of time, but I felt like we were getting no where, that frustrated me a bit, when I look back in the hut, I see that Hope was sleeping, but Ethan wasn't here, I guess maybe he got something to hunt? I decide to upgrade the house a bit now that the kid was sleeping, I go to the forest to find something with a ton of fur, and lo and behold it had found me before I found it, a great grey wolf, hm? Strange it looks as if it despises me, ah, perhaps it holds a grudge on me, in a strange way I kind of understood what it felt, but if it attacked me I'd kill it, no questions asked.

"Oi, you wolf, fight me now and I'll kill you, there is no chance for you to survive against me."

I waited for a bit to get a response from it, for some reason the wolf didn't really talk back to me but it appears as if it got a semblance of what would happen to it, but it appeared to be pointless as it still wanted to fight me.

The wolf fills the place with mist, it was mist that was relatively tough to see while I was in it, the wolf was not in sight but I could still hear where it was, step by step I listen to where it was, I let the wolf get closer to me then lure it to try and bite my head off, I dodge it the moment it gets near me, not because it would have injured me, no, it was quite the opposite really, it wouldn't have injured me at all, but I would feel bad if I had destroyed the will of that wolf, and so as an act of mercy I finish it off with incredible speed, before it had realized what had happened. I had skinned it and taken its fur back with me, any animal in the forest can have its meat as I didn't wanna eat it, this wolf was likely on the level of that goblin leader from a long time ago, but strangely enough, the animals here don't have similar intelligence levels to my family, I didn't understand the foxes here, sort of like they were speaking a different language, maybe there was something special about our family? Well it doesn't matter anymore.

When I had gotten back to the hut I lift up Hope carefully without waking her up then I place the wolf fur that I had cleaned above some grass to make the bed more comfortable for her, I guess I'll also take her measurements to make some clothes for her. When she wakes up I'll upgrade the house more.

I use the remaining pieces of leather to make clothes for her as practice, I mess up on most of them although now I learned how to make proper holes in the clothes, I managed to make a singular diaper for her, a shame it'll have to be disposed of later though, but after all this is all practice, I could also use that linen to make some cloth with it.

Ethan had finally returned and brought with him a large fish, he also was slightly wet, but that kinda made sense since everything there uses water. But he had also brought with him some rocks, I suddenly realised what that could be.

"Hey Ethan, could that be."

"Yep, it's rock salt."

Fantastic! So many things require salt that I was feeling a bit "salty" about it, I take the fish from Ethan and prepare it, after I removed the bones, scales and head, I start to cook it, after finishing I added a little salt to it, the fish was pretty soft so we could even feed it to Hope, and speak of the devil, she had already woken up, we had all eaten lunch, which was fantastic, and each of us got to work on something else, I told Ethan to try and make some shoes with wood, leather, string and linen, and I had started working on the house, Hope was still sticking with Ethan as he worked.

I made a bunch of improvements, I added a floor so it wasn't just the earth and I made the walls sturdier and made the house larger, I should also watch the carpenters work to learn more.

Following that same routine, 30 days had passed of us practicing our crafts, upgrading the house, learning by watching the villagers and remembering any useful knowledge, taking care of Hope, and getting more resources.
